RE: Tool Box in bed of truck

Several companies ( I got mine at Lowes ) make tool boxes that set on the floor of the pick-up bed so that they are not above the side rails and interfere with the trailer. I have mine mounted about 2 " off the floor. It is slightly above the bed rails, but I can slide lumber, etc under the bed for better use.

RE: Propane Tank

ric19888, if you haven't already replaced the tank, take it to one of those places that exchange tanks. I think they will exchange it for no additional cost, and after that you can get it filled wherever you choose.

RE: Antenna crank mechanism help (need help in a hurry)

Sheet metal screws work good in wood especially if you have pre-drilled holes ( which you have ). If the holes are too big break off a couple of toothpicks and put in the holes before you put the screws in ( short pieces )Then use a goos sealer and you should be OK

RE: Vibration problem - above 45 and only when slowing down

I know this sounds stupid, but check your transmission fluid !! My church had a Ford e 350 van about that vintage and it would sound just like rumble strips. A mechanic told me it is caused by the clutches releasing and re-engaging ! Yeah,
I didn't beleive it either--but it won't cost you anything and the fluid probably needs checking anyhow !!

RE: brake line renewal

Another thing to keep in mind is that brake lines are made of steel and require a double flare at the fittings. Like Vulcaneer said, your best bet may be to take it to a brake shop.

RE: Towing 5th wheel in mountains

Don't understand how it works, but my Chevy diesel with the Allison transmission when in the tow haul mode does an excellent job of holding my speed down ( braking), however one should also use caution when descending a hill of any kind.

RE: Steel on tires

As long as you stay with the same load range ( in your case " E " )
you should be OK. Many new trailers come with LT tires from the factory.

RE: Tire size change

I take it that your unit has dual rear wheels on it. Be sure you haave enough clearance that the two tires don't rub against each other.

RE: Chevy Speedometer

On my 04, the fuel gauge quit working . I got it in just before that " secret warranty" expired. On mine, they changed out the whole instrument cluster. I had to bring the truck in so they could get the speedometer mileage and order one with the current mileage preset on it. As best as I can remember, they had it in the back about an hour. The service manager can give you the flat rate hours allowed and tell you what their labor rate is.

RE: BRAKES KICKING OUT ON TRAILER

The wires from side to side are run through the axle. From being bounced arround, over time they have worn the insulation through. Pull the wires out and replace them ( run your new wires outside the axles )a piece of pvc pipe fastened to the axle housing works fine . Run the wires through them for protection

RE: verizon internet device

I am using a UMW 190. I upgraded to it from the usb 720. I use it at home and take it with me when travelling. Most of the time I have internet service. I am satisfied with it.
