RE: Help planning our trip to America...
That does sound like kind of a whirlwind trip, a lot of mileage for the time but you'll see some great sites for sure. Death Valley is one of our favorites and warrants several days by itself, which you won't have. Reservations won't be a problem this time of year, you should be able to stop almost anywhere if you pull in to a campground early afternoon. We prefer all the state and federal parks instead of private campgrounds but you may want the full hookups that you can't often get at the former. So far this year the snow is really late and non-existent so you may get lucky near Yosemite but check before you try Tioga Pass. Highway 395 on the east side of Yosemite is spectacular and one of the most beautiful rides anywhere.
Don't worry about traffic, you won't have any problem. I drive my 32' most anywhere in any city, just watch your rear end around turns. Safety shouldn't be a problem, just be "street smart" about where you park and where you walk especially at night in the cities. Most hotels in SF are downtown and you may not want to walk around too much after dark unless you're in a really busy area with lots of people around. I don't want to scare you, born and raised there and never had a problem but use your head. Have fun, you'll be planning another longer trip soon after you get here.

RE: Safe use of electric space heaters
I doubt if you can use both at once, almost every heater is 1500 watts no matter what you buy but many have a 1/2 power setting which may let you use two. Doesn't matter what you buy, you'll get the same amount of heat from all of them. I use a small fan one that I got for $5 at a garage sale, works just fine.

RE: Solar question re two panels
I'm pretty sure the factory panel is on the house batt's since my chassis one gradually discharges when sitting, and the indicator light on the main panel says there is solar charging going on. I'll try it with both and see what happens, thanks. I haven't put a VOM on it to actually verify but I think that's the way it works.

Solar question re two panels
I picked up a 100w 12v panel for the RV and am in the process of wiring it now. There is an existing 10w factory installed panel for trickle charging (Winnebago) ---do I have to disconnect that one? It's probably going to be wired in parallel and I can't easily access the connections for it within the walls where it goes to the battery, but I can disconnect it at the roof or behind the master panel. My new one will go straight to the battery bank, I have a controller on the way. Thanks

I know KOA will not allow them. They show you a card with dog photos on it and if yours is there (it is) no can do. We traveled lots with our two Dobies years ago and had no problems but that was a while back. I agree with the public campground idea, which we like better anyway, and it's best to check with the private ones ahead of time.

Usually the EPDM is smooth, kind of rubbery but the TPO is hard, textured. At least thats been my experience on the ones I've had with "rubber" roofs.

I got my ham license several years ago, figuring that we'd be out of cell or cb range sometimes in case of an emergency. So far I've used my 2M radio zero times. I've played with it a bit but really don't want to start conversations with other hobbyists, and we're rarely out of cell range. I still keep the 2M "HT" with me but will probably never use it. Your results may vary, and you might want to take up the hobby as many others do, but those are my findings. Re the CB, I also keep one in the RV but use it primarily when traveling with others to keep in touch, but you can pretty much do that nowadays with a cheap pair of walkie-talkies if your range isn't more than 1/2 mile apart.

Most that we've stayed at are in the $35 range, with 2 bucks off for seniors. Yes, some of the prime sites near the ocean or others are $50 and most do not have any hookups but there is water and usually dump stations. Still more reasonable than most private campgrounds, and you usually have more room between sites plus you can be in the trees or on a beach. We still prefer state or federal over most private parks if we get the chance. BLM is even better to get away from the crowds.

Cargill is a really insidious company, the biggest company in the US (privately held, not a corp) with profits in the billions. They have their hands in so many food and other industries, it's hard to know who's behind what. If you're in the Bay Area, you might know about the horrible plan they have for Redwood City, building 12,000 housing units on our precious bayland.
Added: I just saw that Iams has also announced a recall. They're made by Proctor & Gamble and they recalled some Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy dry dog food.

Nothing there that I need or don't already have but thanks for the info. I've been watching Amazon daily-they give away a free Android app every day. Lots of games, which I don't care about, but some good utilities and misc apps that are handy.

I would think the switch is for the tank heater? You can test the pump easily enough by shutting it off with the other switches.
Re the relief valve, it should not leak at all. Scale can build up on the seat and it may fail, stuck closed if it dribbles a lot. Just drain it completely and refill, which will restore the air pocket in the top and allow for expansion. After, just leave it alone and it should be ok but you can pop it once a year just to test it. The air pocket is above the relief valve so you won't lose the charge. You can search these forums for leaking relief valve and get hundreds of answers, most will be wrong.

We've been camping with one each for a while now, they pretty much do their own thing and run the show. Jake rides on the couch, Max the cat rides under the bedspread. Max is indoor only and enjoys looking out the screen or windshield. Other than that, you know what they like--just travel and enjoy them. Seems like almost everyone has some kind of pet and loves to talk about them, great way to meet other campers.

I went through the exact thing on my '06 Jayco. I ordered the top from PPL, the Magic Chef rep and had to send back two in order to get the correct one. It's not just a matter of a threaded rod, you need the correct brackets. You have to call Magic Chef (I forgot who they're owned by now) to get the correct cover number then phone PPL or your dealer to make sure they get the right order.
** I have to emphasize again, you should really phone Magic Chef because the part number is different for your top and you have to get the right one. It's not easily adapted, I thought of even drilling the top to make it fit but you have to get the right hinge setup to make it work right.

I have the Alpha also, and the software isn't too user friendly but it does work and pull in a lot better signal than without. I also found that not all the USB sockets make it work, you might have to plug it into a different one.

I love my Escape, it was either that or the CRV and I'm glad I got the Ford. Some have had trans issues but I never had any, and if you get the hybrid you're guaranteed no trans problems. I've met 2-3 others with the V6 who tow and haven't had any trouble but if you read the forums there seem to be some folks that have gone thru a couple of trannys. I'd suggest either a new one or one with a lot of warranty left just in case. Again, I love the Ford and the mileage is really good, about the same as the Honda.
*** The owners manual specifically gives directions for "recreational towing" and states up to 6 hrs, do not exceed 65 mph. So far, so good.

I've had two on two different MH's and they worked ok but don't pull in long distance. I don't care about that, just use it to communicate between friends while traveling together less than 1/2 mile apart. Nowadays, I hardly ever turn it on, we just use a pair of the little walkie-talkies or frs radios.

I would have thought low thyroid, or IBD but it sounds like you have that covered. We've had cats with both. How about increasing the thyroid for more appetite? I'm sure your vet knows what to do, a lot more than I do. Can you post your results for us cat folks?

Is this the first you've received? I get at least 5 a week, Paypal, my bank, other banks, Yahoo, etc. EVERY email from those legit-looking sites gets deleted before even opening. If it's important you can go to the sites directly on your own, not ever, ever, through the link that they send you.
