RE: Lakewood Camping Resort

Stclairm. We are heading to lakewood tomorrow also. Leaving at lunch time. I grew ip going there and now take our 2yr old and 2 month old. We are going to be with another couple in the 1200 block. Stop by. We love lakewood for the variety of sites and lower number of golf cars.

RE: North Carolina Camping

We have used both Mountain Stream and Buck Creek. I agree Mountain Stream some sites are small and maybe not great for young kids that want a pool and playground but we love how clean it is and the we love the creek. When passing thru to Smokey Mountains we use Buck Creek for the easy in and easy out pull thru at the RC air field since we arrive late at night. Then first thing in the morning while it is still cool out we hit the big hill on I40 going west.

ELKMONT on the TN side if you can get a river front site. Ride your bike around Cades Cove.

RE: Any good NC beach campgrounds???

We have been to Lakewood many times during Memorial Day (Bike weekend) and will be there again this year. We have never had any issues at Lakewood on either memorial day bikeweek or Oct Bikeweek. Lakewood has a variety of site options.

RE: Cape Hatteras KOA

Yes they have been open with limit services. This week the 8th I heard they plan to be pretty much back at full service except for the new office. They are working on the new pool and last I heard the Target is the 8th to open the pool. I will be there next weekend so i will update after I return. They have been posting photos of the construction to bathhouses and pool on Facebook.

RE: Opinions on Pohick Bay State Park in Virginia

We have used Pohick Bay several time while visiting DC. It worked out just find for us. Right up the street we caught the subway into town. We thought it was just fine. We spent most of our time in town doing sightseeing.

RE: ft wilderness

Also use the feature to have the package delivered back to your resort. That way you don't have to carry it all day or worry about going back at the end of the day to buy something. Buy it when you see it and then pick up at your resort whenever you want to.

RE: Small Table To Attach Where Grill Is Supposed To Go

I found only two photos. Most of this was made with scrap wood, hinges, paint, chain I had around the house. Took about 2 hours. The legs fold in for compact storage. The chains are there to prevent the kids from bumping the legs and then folding under while items are stored on the shelf. Good for a small flat screen tv, cell phones, baby monitors, snacks, drinks, games, etc. Also it is high enough the kids can't reach it like they can with picnic tables and other small side tables. I found a few other people (other websites) that have made similar shelves. http://inlinethumb44.webshots.com/49259/2943365160045513371S500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb01.webshots.com/47744/2135186700045513371S500x500Q85.jpg

RE: Best Campsites in Great Smoky Mountain National Park

Elkmont is our favorite. We take our big trailer in there and use 12volt fans on the batteries. Charge with a small generator. Go all week with mo issues. Elkmont is awesome.

RE: Ft Wilderness(again) post pics

Most sites are wooded so I would not worry about the shade concern. To me it is really all about the same. We take our bikes to get around and use the bus also. Another thing we found it we are at the parks a lot and not too much at the camper so it really does not bother us to much about the site or site location.

RE: St. Augistine Florida

We stayed at Faver Dykes and loved it. Don't worry about he single lane dirt road it is fine. Approaching at night for the first time is a little uneasy when you see yourself leave the pavement onto a single lane dirt road but no concern once you get back there. It is tight but can be done.

RE: ft wilderness

We had no problems with stroller. Fold it when you see the bus arriving. It was great for the little one to take a nap in at the park so we did not have to go back each afternoon but sometime going back is good to do some things are the resort. Don't worry about stroller parking, there is plenty and there are people there to assist you. Your stroller may not be where you left it when you return but is you mark yours very well it will take you no time at all to find it. We made a license plate for our stroller, people loved it.

RE: outer banks

I agree with demoon. Anytime of the year be prepared for mosquitoes and high winds. They both can be relentless. We love the OBX. if you want to fish I recommend Oct.

RE: Mrytle Beach firewood

So here is what i do when I am far away from home and run out of firewodd that I carried. And I just did this for Myrtle Beach. I use Craigslist. Look up the area (myrtle beach has a page). Search for "Firewood". I call a few people to see how close they are to where I am and I ask can I just buy a wagon full for campfires while I am in town visiting. They often say yes you can come get a few pieces and typically I pay about $10 or $15 for a good size load. I just searched Myrtle Beach and you find listing for Horry County and Murrells Inlet. The first one I opened even said "SERVICE TO ALL CAMPGROUNDS" so that person must not be to far away that you may get a better deal if you drive to pick it up. That is how I do it and I get much more wood for a much lower price than you pay at a commercial store or campground store.

Myrtle Beach Mobile Wash/Wax

So my job has had me swamped for the past few months working crazy long hours. Also have a newborn (4 weeks old)and a 2 yr old. The camper needs a wash and wax which I have not been able to get completed. We will be at Myrtle Beach for Easter weekend. Can anyone recommend a good wash/wax mobile company? I think tomorrow I will call the campground for recommendations but thought I would ask the trusty group here also.
