RE: Banks power systems for gas coach

I have installed the full Banks system on two different motorhomes. They are pricy, but they are HIGH QUALITY. The improvement in performance was outstanding and it solved the manifold problems. Got zero MPG improvement due to a heavy foot and the thrill of hearing that big engine roar. Obviously, I highly recommend the Banks System.
DITTO!
Second Workhorse too.

RE: Thinking About Calling It Quits

i have cancer. i don't care how much fuel costs. that's why we spend 14 days a year at fort wilderness amongst other trips. there's just going to be less for the kids to fight over. to offset the costs we travel less miles and stay at campgrounds an extra day or two. less movement equals more value and enjoyment. and if i didn't have cancer? 14 days a year at fort wilderness...especially since they changed the hot dogs at casey's. life is way too short.
We're in the same boat,RV, whatever.
DW has cancer for the 3rd time in her 58 years and we sold the shop and have been traveling for the most of the last 9 months.
Only one last stop on the bucket list...Alaska. God willing, this summer!

Valve Stem Stabilizer

Lost another valve stem stabilizer off the rear outside dual of our 22.5 Alcoa
wheel.
Luckily we caught it before it trashed the valve stem to the inside dual.
Has anyone else had this problem? Did you do anything different to keep the new
one from coming out again?

RE: Monster Mashers....Going to Quartzite

HI,
A couple of you might remember us. We attended a Monster Mash in Paso 2008, just by a chance invite.
A couple of cancer bouts and selling our business later, we are ready to get on the road again.
We were auto body shop owners like Rick and Darlene Wetherington.
We would love to hook up with someone or two or more while in Quartzsite the end of Jan.
Let us know.

RE: Tip for making oxidized fiberglass gel coat really POP!

We have used plain old Gel Gloss on 2 Hallett boats, 9 years on one and 10 on the next one, 91 Class C for 8 years, 02 Itasca Class A for 3 years and our full body paint 06 Dolphin for the last 6 years this month.
We always got compliments on how nice our toys looked and people still can't believe this RV is now 6 years old.

RE: UPDATE! No Power Help Quick!! Please!!!!!

:E OK, front board of the inverter was burned up.
Took it to Frank at Biobenefit Energy in Costa Mesa.
What a nice man, easy to deal with and didn't have to buy a new inverter.
At the same time, removed the 4 T105 batteries to clean up and repaint tray etc. Back 2 batteries were bulging, so we bought 4 new batteries too. Went with the Trojans, because these lasted 6 years.
Could've done Interstate,(right down the street), but frankly, not a single one from Interstate that we have used has lasted as long as it should have. SeaDoos, motorcycles, cars, Suburban has had 4 in 9 years...I couldn't do it .
DW has another cancer diagnosis and surgery looming, so we're off to the beach for a few days.

RE: UPDATE! No Power Help Quick!! Please!!!!!

We got the Xantrex out of the coach and covers off.
There is a burnt hole through the front board at the bottom and black plastic soot everywhere.
Jeff is on his way to our local retired fire dept communications expert with the box to check it out.

RE: UPDATE! No Power Help Quick!! Please!!!!!

OK, more poking around.
Switch off breaker inside, labeled Sub Panel (inv. opt). Now we have power to outlets.
Unplug coach with breaker still off and there is power to outlets.
Switch breaker on and no power.

UPDATE! No Power Help Quick!! Please!!!!!

Of course we were getting ready to head out.
1.We were still hooked up to land power. Wife plugs in vacuum cleaner, it fires and quits.
She comes out to complain and we both smell something burning in rt. front compartment where Xantrex is.
She hits battery disconnect and I open compartment, it's filled with smoke.
No fire.
I took my heat gun and tried to see if any one component etc was hotter than the rest.
2.Now there is no power to any of the outlets. Hit GFI on all of them. to no avail.
Coach runs and water pump works, so that battery appears OK.
3.Basement air works on land line.
4.Inverter still inverts power from batteries to outlets, but does not charge batteries. BUT, it only does that if the breaker labeled "30 Sub Panel (invert. opt)" is switched OFF.
5.The genset does not power anything but the A/C now.
We went on our trip because we knew we'd have shore power and used extension cords to charge batteries and use microwave.
4 Trojan batteries are 6 yrs old now.
Xantrex Freedom 458 has been trouble free.
Help!!!

Automatic Awning

Last November we were driving near Cal City and a large dust devil type gust of wind with debris in it tossed something against the front passenger window and shattered it and unfurled the electric awning.
We stopped and got out, luckily only the outside pane of the window was gone and we were able to get the awning tied back to the coach. It no longer worked under power.
After repairs, new glass and awning motor, we took the coach out for a weekend in the spring. When we used the awning for the first time, we noticed a beeping from the awning control box in the front compartment. It went away when the switch for "disable" was used.
When we got home, we called the repair facility and told them about it. While they refused to say it could have been subsequent damage from the previous incident, they did offer to call GMAC and ask for a supplement to the prior claim.
GMAC says absolutely no, it's a new failure.
Having owned an auto body/mechanical repair shop for 40+ years, we know that subsequent damage does not necessarily have to have "an area of impact" as the adjuster says.
We have been insured with GMAC since 1989...and the taste in our mouth is souring.
Anyone else with this type of failure?
Thanks.

RE: Flagstaff area for a month or so

We just left Rancho Sedona after 3 days. What a gorgeous park!
We have been on the road for 52 days, this was the most beautiful and enjoyable park the whole trip.

Providence to NYC to DC

On our way to NYC from Providence. Class A w/small toad. Kinda think the cost of fuel vs tolls won't matter as now we have 3 weeks left to see NYC, DC and head home to So Cal. through the South.
We would like to park RV, take toad to within distance to catch tour of NYC.
Suggestions besides Liberty Park? Please?
Same idea for DC.

RE: Millwaukee to Gary Indiana....

This last post sounds good, but we want to see downtown or at least the tall buildings.
We are sitting in a Menards parking lot and trying to figure out where to go park in a safer area and take the toad downtown.
