The Banana Boat

Not sure if I posted this here already or not. But, the kids will love it! Take a banana. Hold said banana in hand with it curving upwards. Put a slit down the middle and open.. With a fork, mash the banana goodness till it looks like Pudding.. Take a few pieces of Chocolate (Hershey's Bar) and put little squares in banana puree' Take 1 half of a Gram Cracker and crumble it in the Chocolate/Banana Goodness. Now the fun part.. Put over campfire until the chocolate melts and eat!

Winterize question..

So, Last month when we put the TT in storage, I must have hit the bypass valve to divert water from entering the Hot water tank.. So last night, I went to winterize it.. I flipped up the bed and (What I thought was ) hitting the bypass.. ( I actually opened it) not thinking I already closed it when I put it away.. So to make a long story short, there probably is about .5 gallons of antifreeze in it.. ( Along with the rest of the water system). Should I just leave it or drain it? I figured no harm can be done, I have to flush the system in the spring anyways? Right?

Deleware Water Gap Camping

We are planning a trip to camp there in August. Prior to me doing the usual google search, anyone have any good recommendations for a site Near or on the water, with hookups, and good for the kids to enjoy as well? We will be coming from the GW Bridge and heading west.. So Probably a northern area would be good, but I am not afraid to drive a little more for better comfort.. :) Much appreciated! Thanks Mike

RE: Leave W-D Hitch attached, when unhooked from trailer...

A couple of weeks ago we were in Yosemite, and my wife walked into someones hitch and hurt her leg, it was very sore and brused for over a week. If I could found the a--hole that was to lazy to remove the hitch we would have had a little talk about his lazy ways. I do not think he would have cared for what I had to say. You more than likely would not have liked what I said back to you either. I leave my W-H hitch in for months at a time. And if someone is to lazy to walk around the hitch, well, that is there problem. They should not be that close to my TV I agree! I leave mine on when we are at the campsite or if the camper is home and going to be moved within a day or two. ( I have a storage place for my TT )

RE: How is it supposed to "feel" while towing?

Wow.. You towed it home with no Brakes and WD hooked up? You are a brave soul my friend.. I only moved my camper to fill the water tanks with nothing hooked up and felt uncomfortable.. :)

RE: To use OD and Cruise Ctrl or not to use....

My manual states to tow in "D" (Od in my case) with Tow/Haul on.. The only time I drop it down to "3" is up a long Incline.. Other then that.. "D" and CC when on the open roads..

RE: Question about my WD Bars

Mike, In a previous post, you estimated that your loaded TT weighed 6000-6500#. If so, the loaded tongue weight could be in the range of 800-900#, which would mean your 600# bars are not adequate. What is the TT's GVWR? The ratings should be on a plaque attached to the left front side of the TT. Also, it really would be good to know the loaded tongue weight for the TT. If you can't get to a commercial scales, you could try the Bathroom Scale Method of Measuring Tongue Weight. For your van, what is the wheelbase and what is the longitudinal distance from the rear axle to the ball coupler? These values, along with the tongue weight, determine how much load transfer is required. It also would be very informative if you could post the wheel well heights before hitching and after hitching with WD applied. With the WD applied at the maximum bar loading you can obtain, is there a noticible curvature to the WD bars? It would be very informative if you could post a close-up photo showing the curvature of the loaded bars. Ron Ron, 6-6.5K loaded is only a guesstimate (Probably way off too, but I always over estimate everything, prepare for the worse type deal) The GVWR on the plaque states 5500 I do believe. Also like I stated earlier as well, the pic in my sig was really a quick just attach it and let me dump out the original owners poo out of the tank.. I have since adjusted everything to the best of my knowledge and it does sit a little more level now. I just want to know if there is anything else I can do to better the situation.. After reading this thread, I really have to get this combo on a scale..

Sunline T24A Radio system replacement..

As the title states, Mine has the AM/FM/Cassette combo unit installed. I would like to replace it with a new unit, one that has a DVD/CD player. Has anyone replaced their unit and if so, what did you use? I love to play some good music while relaxing by the fire, and also on the long extended trips the kids like to have a movie night.. I am not sure if it is a 12V radio or not, If so, I will probably end up making a custom enclosure where the stock radio is and install a nice Car audio/video unit.. I have some research to do... All thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

RE: Question about my WD Bars

Returning the front to the unhitched height seems to be the recommendation from all of the truck makers, including Toyota. I would be interested to know if this line of thinking is "backwards compatible" for the older TVs or if it's only applicable to the newer trucks, maybe because of improved suspension. I honestly do not think it is possible with my current TT and TV Combo.. I can get it close but not exact..

RE: Question about my WD Bars

Bob, From what I was told, (My neibor installed them on his F-150) they level the vehicle when loaded), he swears by them. I was also reading about the Timbrens These!. Just a little support for the van, like I stated when towing I have 0 issues with handling and braking, I just want to level it off a little better. I should be moving TT back to storage today, after I get it all hooked up Ill snap some pics.

RE: Question about my WD Bars

@mkirsch, When I snapped that pic, I literally hooked up the TT to the van with really no adjustments to bring it to the local dump station to empty it out.. ( Something about someone-else******grossed me out).. I was able to adjust the hitch head and tilted it back and lower it.. Found the sweet spot with the links on the bars. Now the van does not squat as much and the TT is more level. But there is a little squat. I do believe when I measured the drop it was 6" with out the bars attached. With the bars it only dips about 3-3.5". It still is a lot of drop but I do plan on installing the Airbags to inflate when towing.

RE: Question about my WD Bars

To be honest, I do not know the tongue weight.. I was told by the previous owner that it is about 500lbs or so.. Not sure if that is true no truck scales that I know of here on Long Island... As for the bars, they are parallel with the frame and do not point up.

Question about my WD Bars

I have been towing with set up my current setup for the last 1.5 years.. No issues and it does tow straight as an arrow, no sway. but the Front of my van does nose up a little.. My question is, I have the 600lb bars are they enough? I have those along with the sway control. My Hitch Head is tilted a little to level the bars with Using the 6th link (5 links showing).. Like I stated, no issues towing, but the nose is up a little and at night my headlights do blind people in front of me, Usually I can see what they are thinking..lol
