I have only been there once, but that was in high season. Checked in about 1pm with no problems. I was unaware til I read your posting check in time was 4pm.
Thank you! I keep getting advice that I didn't ask for from others. I am so glad someone actually answered my question;)

I would just show up. What is the difference - sitting at home waiting or waiting at the park? If you get a site before 4, that's all good, if not, waiting is waiting - home or at GS?
Sitting in one place for hours with two young children and a big dog waiting to check-in is not a great way to start a vacation. I would prefer to sit home.
That's why I'm trying to find out. So I can be prepared and make an informed decision as to whether they allow early check-in or if we should just sit home.

Easy answer, call and ask. Not trying to be smart a*s.
I should have mentioned that I tried to call many times. It's a recording, then you press numbers to get through to someone. After pressing the correct number, there is another recording to listen to. It says that they are on a call with someone else and to hang up and try again. This all takes several minutes just to hear that I should hang up and try again.
I don't have all day to keep calling, so I was hoping someone would know.

Just show up and ask at the gate.
That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid! I don't want to just show up early only to be told that I have to wait a couple of hours. Some places simply don't allow early check-in. I want to be prepared.
I asked here because I thought someone might have personal experience at this park.

Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL early check-in?
We will be going to Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama soon for the first time. I see that check-in is not until 4pm. We are only 2.5 hours away and sitting home all day waiting to leave will not be fun! I don't want the whole day to be wasted by sitting home because of the late check-in!
Anyone know if they will let you check-in early? I know that sites aren't assigned till you get there.

Thanks for the input everyone. Hopefully, someone will have some feedback regarding the Empire in Slidell. Mobile is almost two hours away, Pensacola is a little more than three hours. The Empire in Slidell is ten minutes:)

Empire Truck for service in Slidell, LA?
Anyone ever have service done at Empire Truck Sales in Slidell, LA? It's time for the 36K M3 service and don't want to drive to Mobile, AL if this place is good.
