Thanks. After searching in vain at every hardware store in town for a plastic/ABS drain that would fit the drain contours of the floor of my shower, I've opted for a flexible connector -"No hub" type. This is a 3" length of 1.5" D rubber hose with a metal shield and a hose clip at each end. Fortunately the drain screw thread fits into one end. Seems to not leak, but I'll be watching it for the next week or two before I re-install styro type insulation and tape up the underlining.
Still have to remove/dry some fibreglass, but we're over the hump.

Hmm ! Maybe. You got me thinking. I'll look into that. And I think it would be better if the drain in the floor of the shower was also ABS/plastic. I'm going to look for one. Otherwise, I think I'll have to unscrew the P-Trap when we leave in April.
Go to go and cut my nice new underlining ! :>(

Yes to letting it flap down. You might as well toss the soaking pink batts since they don't really get their fluff back after they take forever to dry, IMO- YMMV, and put new ones in after you fix the leak.
Thanks for info. Wouldn't styrofoam be better under the shower P trap area ?

If you can feel the floor of the shower flex when you step into or move around in it this is what is causing the drain pipe to break and often the floor of the shower to crack. You need to brace the area up to stop the flexing and cracking the pipes.

Sorry, but I don't think is the situation in my case. As I mentioned in my first posting, the ABS P-trap was screwed onto the metal drain from the shower floor. The metal expanded more than ABS in the summer Arizona sun, hence the cracking of the screw piece of the ABS. Thanks all the same. Beware the summer sun !!

ABS is rated to almost 180 deg F, one might hope it doesn't get that hot. You could rig up a solar powered vent fan, they are commonly used on boats:

You could rig this on top of the normal vent but the solar panel would have to be exposed and you'd need to seal it against rain.
Thanks, I'm familiar with these kinds of vents, owning a boat myself. I talked to a service rep in Camping World about them, and he thinks the bearing would dry out and eventually stop under the sun's heat ! I dunno, I'm stumped so far !

When I got the under-belly cover off (no fun!) under that tank, the pink batt insulation under the tank was soaked. No hope for it. I also cut a slice in the under-belly with a knife in the lowest part to drain it all.
After fixing the tank cross bar etc, I put new pink batts in and put the under-belly cover back on and taped up the knife slice I had made with red vapour barrier tape. That was five years ago and the red tape is still there holding no problem.
My lining goes right to the sides, in fact to underneath the metal side beam. Did you peel yours off from the side, or just cut into the lining at the affected location ? Did you completely take off the affected lining area ? IF I have to remove mine, I was just thinking of cutting three sides and letting the lining flap down.
Name of manufacturer of red vapour barrier tape please ?
Any tips in removing and replacing the insulation would be appreciated ! Thanks.

Trying to use the KISS principal, I bored a 1/4' hole in the underneath lining underneath the shower. Some water drained out, but not a lot, and possibly less than what was leaked. Today, I'm going to try and tilt the trailer a bit in the appropriate directions, using the stabilizer legs, to move any water lying on the top side of the lining to the hole. Maybe I should slice it for 2" or so ?
I've been directing a fan heater into the floor insulation area underneath the shower, but seemingly to no avail. The fluffy insulation is just as wet as it was yesterday. Is there anyway of drying this stuff out ? I'm reluctant to slice the underneath lining of a one year old trailer and pull it out !! A job for a contractor ?

OK. Thanks for the info. I guess I'd better get under the trailer.
Just FYI, the water was leaking out of the drain when we had the tap on and were using the shower. Nothing to do with grey tanks or switching off water. All these things were done properly before we left Arizona last April.
I think our two instances of the ABS pipes cracking suggest the air must be getting VERY hot inside the bathroom. I'm going to have to think of how I can ventilate the room better. The Park owner doesn't allow any power connection while we are away from Arizona in the summer. Maybe a solar panel connected to a 12 volt marine type fan extractor ? Suggestions welcolmed !

What to do with water in the floor insulation ?
Our shower floor drain cracked underneath the shower floor and has let what must be a fair amount of grey water into the space between the trailer floor and the underneath insulation. I think the grey water must be trapped just above the underneath lining ?
What shall I do ? Drill a hole in the lining to let the water drain out ? Let it dry out ?
This is the second ABS drain pipe failure we've had on coming back to the trailer after leaving it here in the Arizona summer ! I think this has happened because the ABS was screwed onto a metal drain coming out of the shower floor. I suspect the metal expanded in the heat more than the ABS plastic ?

cable inlet connection good for satellite dish inlet ?
Can I use the cable inlet connection on the exterior side of the trailer as an input from our satellite dish ?
I've tried, but it doesn't seem to work. Is it because there is a broken or bad connection in the internal trailer wiring or an electrical reason ? if the latter, I guess I'll have to make my own inlet ?

Over extended piston rods - help please !
We had piston rods underneath the bed platform which held the platform up while we were putting stuff in or taking stuff out from underneath the bed platform.
Unfortunately, these piston rods got over extended by my DW (she's very strong !) when she quickly lifted up the bed platform. Now the pistons rods seem to be stuck out and won't retract and I can't manually push them in (I'm very weak !) (please don't laugh !! :>) )
Any suggestions ? i.e. can they be retracted somehow ? The label on the side says "Master Lift", " high pressure supports".

We decided to go with a known (he'd done work for us before) contractor. He did a nice job. He carefully pried off the corner moulding nearly up to the ceiling, then pried off the bottom part of the thin panel wall. This exposed the piping. A horizontal piece had cracked nearly all the way around the circumference. He cut through the remainder and then joined the two ends with a collar. Replaced the wall and moulding.
He couldn't explain why the piping may have cracked ! My guess is the great heat of Phoenix !

Leaking drain after summer heat of Arizona
When we left our trailer last April 2011, the drain from the bathroom sink worked fine. We "summerized" it and left it in Phoenix for the summer on its site. Now returning, we find the bathroom sink drainpipe is leaking behind a wall !
Any suggestions as to how this could have happened ?
It looks like I'm going to have to cut out a section of the wall to get to the leak. Any suggestions on how to do this carefully (w/o cutting possible wires, etc !), and eventual repair of the textured wall ?

Thanks for all the replies. However, it being 11am, and never having seen the downtown buildings, we opted for straight through the middle. Yikes ! What a madhouse, needed eyes in the back of my head ! We got through with no problem, but an accident on the East going side, and the associated traffic jam, convinced us we were lucky and would never do this again !
All things considered, we'd use the southern route. I hate traffic lights !

I30 through middle of Dallas & Fort Worth or I20 bypass ?
We're at Sulphur Springs on I30 going to Abilene on I20. Is it best to go straight through the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth on the I30, or at Mesquite drop down on the I835 to the I20 and go round the bottom of these two cities ?

RE: Toronto to Detroit TOMORROW ????
Left Toronto at 8am. Went on 401 to Detroit (based on advice from this forum - THANKS VERY MUCH to all). Weather great for 2 hours, then periods of 20 minutes of absolute pouring rain, followed by 20 to 30 minutes of OKish weather. Road surface good all the way. Wind steadily increasing as we went, but mostly just off the nose. Reese sway bars terrific. Went through US customs OK. Decided to stop in Monroe as we needed to shop and organize air card account with Verizon.
Now parked in Walmart car park with vehicle nose pointed into the wind, which is now about 50-60kph.
Should get better as we now go South.

Questions:
1. What maximum wind speed would be safe for our rig ?
2. Would you head for Detroit on 401 or via Sarnia on 402 ?
