One thing that hasn't been mentioned but really needs to be: A big thanks to Chris for the thoughtful and "practical" gifts included in the Rally welcome bags. Many of those items found a place in our rig right away!

JaneAnn and I have arrived back home and want to add our Kudo's to Nick and Chris for a wonderful Rally. A special big thanks to Nick and Jim for all of their hard work at getting sponsors on board. Speaking from experience, it takes a very talented person to do this and they have "the right stuff". My small part with coffee was no big deal; especially with my heavy duty timer that allowed me to "sleep in" til 7:00 each day. Chris, you did a wonderful job with the food and being sure all of the condiments, paper goods, paper plates, etc. were there (something that is easily forgotten). The entertainment was also great! Hope to see you all at a mini rally sometime and if not; we will see you at B-10 next year!

Jeff and Sandy... Welcome, and yes, the potluck is open to everyone that comes early and wants to attend! We will bring dogs, brats and buns, along with chilli topping. We are encouraging others to bring fruit or salad or dessert or chips,etc. It is pot luck, so whatever you bring will be perfect! Also, folks should bring their own plates, silverware, cups and whatever beverages they wish to drink.

JaneAnn and I will be doing the Thursday night meal planning. I am thinking about a potluck with hot dogs or brats (cooking tips from Barb and Florence appreciated). Items really simple like chips, beans, salads; you know the kind of stuff needed. I will also be doing the morning coffee during the rally. For those coming on Wed like us, we will probably go uptown for dinner. We can talk about it when we get there.

One thing people forget to do is to treat the rubber seal periodically with silicone or silicone spray. It will keep it soft and pliable.

Sally and Ron,
Good to hear from you. Did you ever get the "real" house done? Funny you should mention your cats. We think about our pet dog all the time and is one of the reasons we have the Sportsmobile. With it's pop-top and six screened windows on the top, there are many times we can stop, pop the top, open the screens, turn on a fan and feel comfortable with her left inside. Granted we still wouldn't do that if the temps were north of 85, although I am sure she would be just fine with all the heat buildup escaping through the windows and canvas top. After all, she is the princess and we would just die if we put her into danger. Anyway, I heard you had made the switch and must say for the dollars, it looks like a very nice, roomy and economical running machine (and it helps the Iowa economy!). I am especially jealous of the bed size! I am sure we will see you on the road somewhere.

Glad to see the Brusselers' have scheduled their next family reunion again at the same time as the B-9 Rally. I wonder if they don't have some other relative that has a "B" that could be pursuaded to come. This family adds so much to the Rally; I really enjoyed their conversations by the campfire. So many memories, so short the time.

Actually I don't see the necessity to research the "Annual Class B Rally and Other Events" site because all the necessary info is posted here anyway so why bother?
Actually, ernie, there is more information on the B-Rally.org page and the page is always kept up to date. For example, you can see who actually is registered to come, pictures from past rallies, the schedule in detail and how you can become involved in the planning and participation for this Rally and all future rallies.

Really? Really? Not one person who is checking this topic thinks they can host a Rally? The campground just needs to be able to have about 50 sites reservable with a pavilion (or a tent) to gather under. Here's your chance to have a Rally in your own backyard. If you know of a campground and just a little afraid to nominate, send me a private message. We will walk you through it and give you all the help you need.

I have much to share with the B-9 organizer. Please do not be afraid to nominate a site even if you do not live close to the site. JaneAnn and I were 375 miles from the campground and Barb and Florence were some 875 miles away. With the internet and a cell phone, most things can be organized very easily away from the site. The chances are that someone will live close to the campground (like Don for us) who can run out and take pictures and work with the campground. Think of a wonderful campground you have been to lately and if they can accommodate us, make a few phone calls and nominate that site. There are many of us (the numbers are growing with each Rally) who will help you.

JaneAnn and I have completed most of the bookwork for B-8 now and are happy to report that there will be approximately $1800 for B-9 (about $400 more than we started with). This is subject to any remaining postage or shipping costs but should be close. We were short about $900 from Sponsors this year and down about 30 total participants, so we don't feel bad about the numbers. A great big thanks to Chimom (Florence and Barb) for keeping the meal costs to a minimum but still with lots of great food! Also to Jim Tewell for doing his Sponsor Magic. A final accounting sheet will be emailed to all participants when finalized and will be sent upon request to anyone else interested. Just email me your request at michael@stoutmail.com.
