RE: RV Parking City Ordnances

City councils tend to do what they want or what their buddys want. We have a parking ordance because of two (2) people. We were able to get it watered down a lot. We have to get a permit once a year which is currently free. Up to 72 hours each time for a total of 12 days a month

RE: Do you use cell phones while backing into campsite?

My wife sits in the truck with me so I don't have to worry about her being in the way. I have two mirrors and a backup camera. So far that is all I need. Yep thats the way we do it. Except I dont have a backup cam.

RE: Holding Tank sensors>>>>

A piece of black electrical tape over the sensor makes the problem go away.:) Mike That looks tacky. Remove the cover on the panel and disconnect the wire

RE: 5R110 Torqshift behind a 7.3L?

The 5R110 will not bolt to a 7.3L. An adapter could fix that. Then you need a way to control it. It is impossible to make the 4R100 controller work with the 5R110. Not difficult, it's impossible. Getting the engine computer to talk to the trans computer is probably possible, but it's not going to be some simple conversion box, the 7.3L computer doesn't even calculate all the information the 5R110 controller needs, and it's loop time is WAY to slow for the 5R110 controller. It would be cheaper and faster to invent your own computer and write your own software. Budget several years and a few hundred thousand dollars to do this job right. Of course a hack job would be cheaper and faster, but it's not going to work very well. Most swaps are at least possible. This one is theoretically possible, but not at all practicle. Several people have told me that PCS makes a controller that can control the 5R110. Nobody has ever been able to tell me of even one person that has done this successfully. I don't think the PCS has the power to get that job done. Prove me wrong. Thanks, Mark; the impracticality of it makes my decision easy-- if I go 7.3L again, it'll be with a built 4r100 behind it. If I'm rationale here, if my use of the truck is such that I "miss" a deeper first gear and more cogs, I probably would need a bigger/more powerful truck at that point. Im thinking if you really need that lower gear why not add a GearVendor aux trans

RE: Albuquerque, NM to Hutchinson, KS

I will be traveling from Albuquerque, NM to Hutchinson, KS next week. On my trip west I took K61 from Hutch to US54 then to I40. I found US54 to be very, very rough for about 100 miles. I'm towing a 34 ft 5ver. Google maps suggest going north at Dalhart, TX and then through Dodge City then on to Hutch. Does anyone have any info on this Google suggested route? Dont know it current condition, but it used to be a good road. There wont be much traffic other than local farm traffic

RE: Question about using overdrive

I had a 2000 F350 (Fantastic truck!) and had to have the tranny replaced at 35,000 miles. I was told that towing with the overdrive on was the main reason. I was over a 100,000 miles on the 2nd tranny when I sold the truck and never had any problems with it. I would definitely tow with it off. I also have a 2000 F-350 its chipped and I tow with the OD engaged and I have 160,000 miles on the truck. The chip was installed when the truck had 30,000 on her

RE: Outback Steakhouse - Thumbs Down

I've went to the area Outback three times and have never gone back. Undercooked meat and the quality was nothing to brag about. By undercooked you mean eatable, and not cooked so long its all dryed out and resemables shoe leather. Properly cooked meat should be red though out

RE: Do you OPEN carry while camping with others?

I dont care if you carry concealed or open carry. Seeing someone with a gun has never bothered me. Carrying concealed is a pain in the butt as far as im concerned. They are so hard to cover, its more comfortable just to open carry. I dont normally carry either way. If I feel threatened and Im not easylly intimidated I will shoot you as Im too old to fight and with my knees I darn sure cant run

RE: Outback Steakhouse - Thumbs Down

I'm not at all surprised. IMO, a better meal can be had at nearly any Sizzler! Without the fake Ausie accent... Actually, given the choice between Outback and Applebees, I will go to Texas Roadhouse. But, I would rather go to Denny's or Perkins. For almost 10 years, I did maintenance on fire bombers, spending most of the time every summer living in motels and eating in restaurants. After a while, they all sort of blend together, and differences are difficult to spot! Sizzler sucks their steaks are like shoe leather I put them in the class with Denneys. I would rather find a greasey spoon in not so good part of town. We love going to Outback

RE: Speed Cameras

They took all the red light cameras out here. Caused more problems than it solved. The only one making any money on the deal was the company that install them. It cost the PD's more than they got. It took a full time person to review the tickets to see if it was valid or not I see they have taken all the speed cameras out in the Phoenix area, anyone know why?

RE: Best route from Colorado Springs to Durango area

I agree with Thunder Mountain - Wolf Creek is a grind but not scary. You want scary - do Red Mountain Pass (550). Remember, same gear going down as going up! No way going up and down i same gear. I went most of the way up Red Mt in 3rd I came down South to North in 1st it held it at 25 and very seldom touched the brakes until I got to that big curve near Ouray

RE: Speed Cameras

I know a young woman that last year had lost her drivers license. One day she went to get her mail and in it was a ticket for driving without a license. Seems one of the cops wives had told her husband that she saw her driving. So, the cop wrote her up a ticket and mailed it to her. (So much for having proof) Anyway my friend was able to prove she was somewhere else at the time and got out of the ticket. Thankfully she was seen by other people in a different location or she would have had to pay for something she didn't do. Must have been in one of those little towns where the local cop does anything he wants. That wont hold up in any legitimate court
