RE: Euro motorhomes... why don't we have these in the USA?

I like those, at least from the pictures...

RE: Class C buildup w/modification

I'm going with a small, portable inverter generator and will not be feeding it from the fuel tank. Thanks for the suggestion though!
If you can find anyway to tie into main tank, even for a portable, you will find it so much more convenient! We were camping/tailgating at college football game this fall in a big parking lot. A group nearby was running a portable generator and I saw them fill tank several times over weekend. Since you'll be carrying ATV's, maybe an extra tank for fueling them like the toy haulers have with tie-in for your portable generator???

RE: right turn signal not working on hooked up toad

Not sure how this applies to a toad but on regular trailers, a light not working or being dim is often a poor ground somewhere in wiring.

RE: To Tow or Not to Tow

Unless you plan on staying in one location an extended time or visiting several big cities where parking could be an issue, I'd say "not to tow."

RE: Tow dolly

If car doesn't have brakes, how will you stop it driving when off dolly? :) Sorry! Couldn't resist.

RE: Vinyl wheel covers really prevent/reduce sidewall cracking?

No idea on answer to this question, but when removing a 5 to 8 yr old set of tires with cracked sidewalls, does the inner sidewall of the inside tire on rear dually have any sidewall cracking? I doubt those 2 sidewalls (left/right tire) ever gets any UV hitting it at all.

RE: How do all the tanks work?

Do conservative navy showers (use on/off button on shower nozzle), the basin in sink to dump into toilet, stay aware of what you are using (turn off sink when brushing teeth, between rinsing dishing, when washing hands, etc) and you should be OK. Since we don't use a toad, I keep our campsite setup easy to break in case I need to go somewhere in motorhome. If needed, a quick trip to dump station isn't much of an issue or stop by when coming back in park after a trip to store, etc. Some state parks here in GA have gray water dump areas around the loop. They are basically buried trashcans filled with gravel and hardware wire over the top. They do have signs saying "Gray Water Only." I've gotten a site next to one of those before and using a non-drinking water hose and sewer cap with hose bib fitting drained gray tank.

RE: First Prisim Problem

Remove the 2 screws and pull the antenna switch plate off to see if the connections on back of it are sound. The cable is probably one 5' run from outside termination to power switch plate.

RE: Is this a crazy idea?

You need to determine at least two weights and compare to your specs. Adding airbags can keep you level but doesn't increase weight capacities.
The tongue weight such a setup will have. The MC carrier will add lots of tongue weight. Towing a car 4 down will not.
The total weight of the MC, carrier, car, etc.

RE: Launching Boats with RV

Have launched our prior 20' bowrider and current 19' bay boat with our class C and no issues. As previously mentioned, camping and boating go great together!

RE: Water under floor mat

Just some more thoughts...Look for signs of dried wetness (stains, etc) instead of feeling to see if it is wet. If water leaked in a while back it could have puddled under mat and its "path" dried up. Check it right after some heavy rain.

RE: Using propane from RV tank

I used an extend-a-flow on our previous 5'er and loved it...no need to worry about little green disposable bottles! We don't use a toad with MH so I found myself having to disconnect propane if we needed to go somewhere in the MH. I bought a small 5lb refillable propane tank and use it instead of extend-a-stay.
Difference between an extend-a-stay and extend-a-flow is that an extend-a-stay will also let you use a portable tank to run you MH appliances (water heater, furnace, stove).

RE: how attach plate to door?

I've used 5200 on boat and it will STICK! 3M 4200 is similar but supposed to be removable somehow...maybe a special chemical???

RE: how attach plate to door?

Our previous 5'er had a bumper/stop type thing attached next to awning foot to keep door from banging into it. Once you get hole in door repaired something on MH body like that bumper might be good to have. Some type of construction adhesive and pop rivets might hold a repair plate to door.

RE: Damaged RV

Yes, every year in the Spring, when I have my rig de-winterized, I always have the roof inspected for any damage. That was not spotted because you can not see the seal that was not done properly.
Thanks. I believe the inspections would be important for whether you have a valid claim against mfr or not. Sorry for the troubles you've had with it.

RE: Struggling with Under Bed Storage...

Might not work for this application but our boat uses springs that look like screen door springs but thicker. When you open storage hatch the spring becomes straight and hold hatch open. To close, hold the hatch and tap spring sideways in middle to make it fold in half. Very simple but NEVER accidentally hit the spring when your head is in way of hatch closing. Believe me, I know NOT to do that again!!!
Another thought is to remove the half of plywood that opens and use a full length piece of plywood hinged at headboard. You still will only have 1/2 size opening but the whole mattress will tilt up and not bend in middle.

RE: Damaged RV

I'm no expert but I don't see how a seal INSIDE the wall construction would prevent a leak.
Also, you haven't answered if you've been having the routing inspection/maintenance performed? In my mind, that really goes a long way in whether mfr should help with expenses of the out-of-warranty repair.

RE: Damaged RV

Did you have roof/caulking inspected/cleaned/recaulked routinely as warranty requires? If nothing has been done to roof/caulking since new I don't think the mfr should be expected to cover. If you've been inspecting/cleaning/treating/recaulking as warranty required you might have something to push issue on.

Sounds like a great weekend! We've enjoyed weekends in friends/relatives driveways in past also. Great how a class C can be used for that :)
