RE: how old should you go.

Interesting question. Have a relative that bought a Vogue ( I think) 40 ft DP new in 1988. He is very particular and tells me now that he is 85 maybe I should buy it. Detroit diesel has 65,000 miles and all records, etc. They lived in it at Hilton Head about 3 months a year then put it away. It is quality and very well cared for (waxed every year, etc) but if I want to really travel in it, when is old really old. Sure it will need things but will it need them in the middle of nowhere or ? That is what concerns me. The money is one thing but being stuck somewhere is almost more of an issue.

RE: Beware in keys

As a storage owner I look at things different. The unit is taking up space, I am not getting paid. I tried to contact the owner apparently without any luck. I hired some one to remove it in preparation of selling it. I was not concerned about the fees as it would be covered when it was sold at auction. It is not my job to protect people who do not do what they agreed to. OP agreed to pay monthly and did not, it is that simple. If OP had at least had the courtesy to contact storage facility when payment was due, it might have resulted in a different outcome. If people do what they are supposed to do, then this issue does not happen. Can't remember but if it was sitting on a camping lot, maybe the landlord wanted it off the lot so he could collect rent from a paying customer. The OP was in the wrong by not honoring his obligaction or at the very least communicating with the people.

RE: Towing behind my class C

I have pulled trailers for thousands of miles behind my truck. Never had a problem with the small ones and no brakes. But always worried about having an accident and being illegal. Now, I would only buy one with brakes if that is what the law requires. It is not wether you need it or not, it is what the law says. It is like having a hand gun in your car without a permit (if needed). It is not a problem until you get stopped and then it is too late.

RE: ac kicks on again 30 secs later

My tstat has a range so when it reaches the desired temp it kicks off and then when the temp rises or falls x degrees it kicks the unit back on. Mine was always cycling like yours. My HVAC guy told me how to adjust mine to increase the gap. It was a simple adjustment to the tstat, unfortunately I forget what I did. But he said it was just a function of the tstat and now mine runs a little longer but not as often.
