Awning arm retrofit

I have run into a problem with the pitch kit for the A & E awning. Since the door to my trailer is near the back and the kit is suppose to go on the left arm, I cannot open the door when the awning is tilted. I have reinstalled the original arm to the left side and I am in the process of installing the pitch kit on the right arm (motor).
This is where I have encountered another issue, what to do with the wire? The wire needs to be able to move about 8" when the awning is tilted. I thought about cutting the wire and splicing in a short piece of curly wire, any thoughts? I have spoken with Dometic and they say to run the wire to the top arm but this arm does not have a wire cover and the wire would hang down when the awning is extended and I would have to splice in more wire as it is not long enough to be rerouted.
I know other RVers have done this mod so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
