RE: Tow Dollies

Determine the weight limit of your hitch, determine the weight of the vehicle you want to tow, and don't forget the weight of the dolly itself in your figuring also. My first dolly was a 10 year old used one. It had 13" tires and worked fine. After a year or so with it, I came across a 1 year old dolly with 14" tires and it had only been used once. It is serving us well now. I sold my old one for what I gave for it so I think I came out OK. Hope this helps.?. What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?

RE: Solenoid testing

I recently had the same type of problem. Found that it was the 12v battery disconnect solenoid. If you look at this link and this is like yours, to test it you disconnect the batteries, then remove to two connectors on the + and - on the solenoid. Using an ohm meter check the resistance across that coil (+/-) If it reads less than 4ohms then the solenoid is bad. Mine read zero! I ordered from the factory and had the replacement in a few days. Note that the KIB factory will want to know the mfg and model of your RV as they needed more than the part number on the actual solenoid to get the correct one. Happy Camping!

RE: question about tennessee state parks

We love Panther Creek in the summer time. Arrived during the week and had no problem choosing from several sites. It's a nice place and one night each week they have a gospel singing where the locals and campers can sing or enjoy the singing. I am not sure if it the whole season, but we enjoyed it. While we did not use the pool(my kids enjoyed playing in the creek), it looked well maintained. When going home to Tennessee, I always have a backup plan. If Panther Creek is full then think about Cherokee Dam Campground on the other side of the lake. No reservation there either. There are some private CG's up Lakeshore but I have never camped there. If Cherokee Dam Campground is full then a nice ride over to Douglas Lake. Camping both above and below the dam. Have never experienced all of these full, but I have not camped there on heavy holiday weekends either. Good luck!

RE: dishes vs paper plates

I like real plates, DW likes paper when camping. Most of the time we eat off paper.:)

RE: Ft Wilderness and propane refills

FYI: Update on the Camping World Kissimmee. Went by there today and saw where the propane is only open Monday through Friday 9a-4p. It's operated by an independent company and not CW.

RE: Ft Wilderness and propane refills

I think the Camping World 5175 West Highway 192,Kissimmee, FL 34746, Phone: 888-253-3918, has propane. I would call ahead to make sure. It's not that far from Disney. You can google their location and bonus is that there is a Krispy Kreme doughnuts shop just a few blocks west of them on the opposite side of the road.

RE: Intermittent 12v house power. The Disconnect Relay Soleniod?

Today I replaced the fuse and tested the BATTERY DISCONNECT SOLENOID. Still not working. Next I checked the coil. The coil should read 4 ohm if good, it read zero. So a new one is ordered and should be in in a few days. If you experience this problem note that the general solenoid part number is not enough info to order a new one.(locals did not know this) You will need your coach mfg as they have different models of the same order # solenoid. Ordered a new one from the factory as none of the local dealers had one. KIB Enterprises Got email tonight and it has already shipped UPS.

RE: How long do the radiator hoses last on a V10 F53?

I would either change them or make sure to have replacements on board just in case. And only 19k miles, make sure your tires are OK. Safe travels!

RE: Intermittent 12v house power. The Disconnect Relay Soleniod?

UPDATE: I went out and located the Disconnect Relay Solenoid, found there is a 5A buss fuse on both sides of it, so first thing I pulled them and one is open. This may be the problem when I have no 12v power. Then if it switches, I have power on the other side/fuse. Of course I only have 10, 15 and 20A fuses so I will pick up the 5A tomorrow and post if that fixes my problem. Thanks for all of the help here. I printed all the suggestions and took them out to track it down.

RE: Spare Tire on DP

Once had a blowout at 730AM on a Sunday, the only replacement we could find the guy wanted $975.00 just for the tire, and this for a 19.5 We got in the toad and drove 2.5 hours away, purchased a new tire for $170 and returned and waited for road service to arrive. At 1130PM we finally got back on the road. I carry a spare now.

RE: Is buying from Camping World our only option?

As I understand, some dealers do not like to provide warranty service if you purchased out of state and returned home with a unit. The local dealer whom we purchased from is a member of "Route 66" which as I understand is a network of dealers. I don't know if they would help out with warranty work. I do know that when we purchased our MH, I think I only had one return trip to the dealer for warranty repair. And it was a very minor thing that I was almost embarrassed to return to them for. I have never heard about staying overnight at a CW. I do know that where the closest one to us is located, the town has an overnight ban. Doesn't allow any overnight parking at anyplace other than a campground. Maybe someone else has experienced purchasing from CW and can comment better. If they don't have one on the lot, could you not order the exact unit you want from nice guy when it is closer to retirement? Good luck with retirement. We have almost given up on that happening with us.

RE: Intermittent 12v house power. The Disconnect Relay Soleniod?

In my case, we head out and no house power. I stop and fuel up and get back in and it works just fine. Works for a day while on the road then all of a sudden it's out. Then maybe a day or two later it's working again. Some good tips above that I will be checking out this weekend. THANKS EVERYONE!

Intermittent 12v house power. The Disconnect Relay Soleniod?

I continue to have an intermittent problem with my motor home house 12v power when disconnected from electric service. My 12v cut off switch does nothing. Sometimes all of the 12v items work just fine, other times nothing will work unless I start the generator or plug up to outside power. I cannot figure out if there is anything that contributes to this problem. I am thinking it might be the Disconnect Relay Solenoid. I have located the one connected to the house batteries. If it is the problem I am thinking there would be some specs on it that I would have to match in a new one, correct? Do you know of a way that I can test it with a volt/ohm meter to tell if this is the problem? Or do you think my guess is correct? Help and suggestions appreciated.

RE: fort wilderness

Just give them a call and add your parents as guest. As per my reservations made earlier today, the price is not determined by the number of persons in your RV. The number is 407-939-7429.

RE: RV Park Super Guide offer

I have had very good luck with private parks by just phoning and asking what the best price they could offer me. One I had stayed when I was a member of PA gave me a lower rate this way after my PA had expired, than when I had PA. Worth a try.

RE: Slide tilts when moving ???

Thanks everyone! Seems like another thing not to worry about. And yes it was when moving the slide in and out.:) Happy Camping!

Slide tilts when moving ???

Recently I have noticed that when putting out my front largest slide, once it gets about 80% extended, the top leans out (tilts) and actually makes contact with the top of the opening before the bottom contacts. The motors and drive gears are on the bottom of the slide. Also, when bringing in the slide, the bottom starts in and then when about 5-6" in, the top will start to move inward, all the while leaning top heavy outward until it is in about 40% of the way. At that point it levels up. It still goes out and in, just when it was new it stayed level all the way out and in. Are there tension settings somewhere that need adjusting? Do the rubber seals that rub need replaced? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Zack

RE: Full-Timing with VA Health Care

If you are in one area for any amount of time, check to see if you can transfer your care to the nearest clinic. Then when you are going back towards home base, just transfer back there. May work even if moving around the country from time to time, but I wouldn't think they would like to change as often as monthly. Good luck. Hopefully one day I'll have the same problem as you.

RE: Road Pirates

One night around midnight we stopped at a Wal Mart for DW and DD to run in and pick up a few things. I stayed in the MH with the kids and thought I would take a little nap while they were shopping. About the time I dozed off, here they come back in and all excited. While shopping my daughter noticed a guy pull a gun out. They ran out and within a minute there were cops coming from all directions. Don't think anything happened as they walked out with the guy a few minutes later. Wife and daughter then decided that they didn't need to spend any money anyway. I was OK with that and we hit the road again.
