RE: Tyler TX to Salida CO. need to find stuff to do

IF you really want a scenic 'wander' across northern New mexico hit US 64 just south of Raton and take it through Taos to a few miles west of Chama, then 17 north to Antonito, Alamosa, and on to Salida. 17 over the Cunbres Pass is a beautiful road - especially in the spring. We just came south on 17 from Alamosa to Chama last week. A beautiful ride!
how is the grade on those passes for that route ?
less than raton pass? I hate to work my truck to hard pulling.
We have never been over cunbres pass either .Yet !

RE: Tyler TX to Salida CO. need to find stuff to do

I thought about that route.. But the passes and our first time with the 5th wheel
I may go the flattest route..
We usually drove a 30ft class C, had no mountain pass troubles there.
Nice drive eh? hmm

Tyler TX to Salida CO. need to find stuff to do

hey folks
Wife and I head north each summer from Tyler TX to Salida Colorado area. Usually we drive through TX stay a nite and shoot up the next day . Bam right into that hi elevation .. and its ruff on us.
Well , This year I thought maybe we could take a few days going up and see some sites. We usually take Raton pass. but are first timeing our fifth wheel this year,. may just go 287 strait to 50 then west.
We have spent a day in Trinidad and the and done the scenic routs west of there.
Hmmm
What you guys recommend for site's to see. ? Mainly AFTER TX.. LOL
I may add ,, We have already hit the Cannon City area pretty hard stomped all over that place and surrounding areas!

RE: Air Bag Recommendation

I just installed Air Lift bags on my Silverado. Big difference in ride quality pulling a trailer. No more wallow or secondary bouncing on big bumps. Got mine for $215 shipped from suspensionconnection.com. Didn't have to drill for my installation which was a big plus. The RAM kits are $250 from them, the same as every place else I looked. They say bolt on, we'll see :)
Well got those air bags on yet?? I am eye balling a set also..
