RE: Starter solenoid

I ran into a similar problem on F250. Finally traced it to a faulty starter relay.

RE: Grand Canyon North Rim

When we go to the north rim, we boondock on the road headed into the park. There are "hundreds" of sites just off the main road that will accommodate and size RV and are very easy to access.
good suggestion
But, I do not see how I get away with that for several days to a week. We like staying some where for a while.
Forest service road 22, just south of Demotte park is a well maintained gravel road with many places to boondock and any size rig. 14 day stay limit but is seldome enforced.

RE: types of solar panels

Go to "windsun.com" and start you research. You will find a wealth of information from a company with over 30 years in the business. They also have a forum with discussions on everything solar.
The site that said the panels have to be rated for rv use is (to be polite) wrong.
Monocrystalline panels are the most expensive and most of the better ones have a 10 year warrany and will last 30-40 years.

RE: Newbie Roof Questions

Fiberglass is the longest lasting and probably the strongest. Some have a gelcoat finish and some are painted with a clearcoat as a topcoat.
I am not aware of any motorhomes being built with aluminum roofs but I could be wrong.
Monaco and Tiffin have had a few problems with their fiberglass roofs on some late models but I do not know to what extent.

RE: Kwikie Step Repair

Hi All
2 questions
1995 Fleetwood Flair Class A
#1
What are they called in the front springs the air bladder? Where do I get them? Or should I go with new springs? Remember when we were kids we put spacer blocks in front springs tp raise front of car? Well would these worl on front of MH?
Assuming you have the P30 chassis, Firestone has a lifetime warranty. They are Firestonr Ride-Rite model #4100 and retail for less than $90. for the complete set. Many auto parts stores carry them or you can find them online by searching for "firestone air bags".
Replacing the spring is one option, but they need to be matched to the suspension load, there are 5 possible spring compression ratings.
Forget the spacers unless you you can live with a ride like on a skateboard.
#2
My steps do not work checked it out motor works fine but the linkage going from the motor to the step is broken, E-Mailed All Rv Parts and they tell me pre 2004 they switched and I have to buy complete new modifed unit at $219.00 plus shipping, question is do any of you know where I can just get the linkage? It is the 26 series. Pardon any spelling errors as spell ck. wont work for me, and I am not to bright in the spelling dept.
Cant help with the linkage, I will see what I can locate. You might try "rv serplus".
Thanks in advance
Dennis

RE: Newbie Roof Questions

There are three types of foofing material commonly referred to as "rubber roofs". EPDM, TPO and the latest offering is Brite TEC and are the most used.
EPDM is oldest technology and TPO was the next step, considered to be much tougher, longer lasting, and does not sluff off like EPDM. Brite-tech is the next generation and touted to be the best of both worlds.

RE: Entry door with glass you can see thru.

Any glass installation company should be able to replace it without your having to replace the entire door. Adding a curtin should be the easy part.

If you are going to replace the shroud soon duct tape will work.
Get the make and model of the ac and go online. There are many resources for replacement shrouds.

RE: Removing Exterior Decals and Stripes

The easiest way I have found is with a 3M disc #07517. Be careful with speed or it can burn the finish.
It is possible the coach mfg. may have new ones available, if not there are many sources on the net under Vinyl graphics.

RE: Does Durabond replace caulking?

JMHO but this is a case of you get what you pay for. RV builders that are starting to use tape for sealing have been going to Durabond and the Dicor brand. WHY? They cost less. We have found that while Eternabond costs more it's failure rate if applied correctly is zero.
We have several folks in the extended camping family that have had failures with the other two used as OEM.
We have two coaches going on 15 years with Eternabonded seams with no leaks and no maintenance.
You tweeked my curiosity. Which rv manufacturers are using Tape as opposed to caulking?

RE: Does Durabond replace caulking?

Durabond, Eternabond, and Dicor sealing tapes are all made for sealing "rubber roofs". I do not believe there is ten cents worth of difference in any of them, just personal preferrence.

RE: Inverter - Converter - Solar Panels

If properly sized solar and inverter will power a microwave for short periods of time, it will not power an ac.

RE: Solar or Generator?

If you intend to use the ac it will require a generator. The solar array needs to be sized to the total amp hour rating of the battery bank. The general rule for sizing is 75 watts minimun to 135 maximum for each 100 amp hours of battery bank rating.
One of the best sources to to research about solar is www.windsun.com
They have been in the business for over 30 years and have an excelent website.

RE: window leak

Need a little more information. Do you know what company made the windows?
It should be etched in the glass. Depending upon the manufacturer different sealing methods are used.
