RE: Hot Water Heater Drain Plug

It sounds like you are dealing with a Suburban steel tank. I would carefully chase the threads in the tank with a pipe tap and install a new brass plug with teflon tape. If it happens to be an Attwood with an aluminum tank, the same would apply except make sure that you get a new nylon (or whatever kind of plastic it is)plug.

RE: Coach-net

If they said that they would call back and didn't, why would your next action be to post here?

RE: Scary situation--help?

Were you towing a toad? My wheel will be off about 40 degrees if the toad steering is locked. No one should have to ask how I know.

RE: poorly done ad by Newell

It's funny that you mentioned the ad in that issue because there is one major goof in an article in the magazine. The article on Niagara Falls refers to the Niagara River flowing South from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. Interesting that the River can jump up over the Falls. For those of you who aren't familiar the Niagara River flows North and drains Lake Erie and the rest of the Great Lakes into Lake Ontario. As to the Newell, I'd still consider it but I'm about $2 million short of the $1.5 million price tag! Yes, I noticed that also. The author even doubled his facts to confirm the direction. Kind of makes you wonder how factual the rest of the article is.

RE: poorly done ad by Newell

katoomer, I can think of a lot of places in NA that could provide that background for the Newell. Did you happen to notice the MH on the FMCA insurance insert (just before page 25) with the pax door on the left?

RE: Needles to Kingman

Also, don't plan on fueling at Needles. The fuel prices are crazy and there are several RV scam artists in the area. Fuel is avaialable at exit 9 in AZ at much better prices.

RE: Does spilled Dextron III evaporate?

A full tank of cold soaked fuel added to a warm moist spring day equals A LOT of condensation.

RE: Campgrounds in Nebraska and North Dakota

Victorian Acres in Nebraska City and KOA near Grand Island are both regular stops for us.

RE: Splendide 2100 timer keeps turning

I remember having that problem, but I don't remember how I fixed it. Probably just unplugged the unit and reset. I know that I didn't have to throw any parts at it.

RE: Setting up DirecTV

You will lose about 10db because of the dome cover. How much more you lose will depend on the size of the dish under the dome. The best signal that I could get with my old Kingdome was around 82db compared to the same receiver and standard dish signal of 98db.

RE: Setting up DirecTV

If you replace your old dish with a dome, you will be trading a loss of signal in the wind for a loss of signal any time it rains or dews. Been there, done that. Do yourself a favor and get a Winegard Travler. Mine works in all but the heavist rain and winds up to at least 50mph. Winegard did it right on the Travler.

RE: improving satellite reception

If you are losing signal due to clouds, something is wrong. A dish should be good in all but the heaviest rain storms.

RE: need verification of Cat. fuelfilter/water sepaerator number

198-6378 is a Cat 2 micron filter. Alliance equivalent is TCI 32FRT03.

RE: Storing Coax Cable

I use one of the orange extension cord roll ups. Got it at Wal-Mart. Works very well. X2

RE: Splendide washer/dryer dead

You lucked out. Usually that amount of heat damages the board also.

RE: roads around oklahoma city

Thanks Skip, I remember a lot of bucking with the fifth-wheel. I think that was coming from the south on I-40 and going through the city to the turnpike. I hate it when she starts bucking. Thanks, Nels I40 is an EW route, but if you are coming from the west and connecting to I44 (Turner Turnpike), use the Kilpatrick Turnpike to bypass most of the bumps. I think it's about $4 for MH and toad. Your rig and knuckles will thank you

RE: Splendide washer/dryer dead

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm guessing that it may have a bad board. I had to replace mine a couple of years ago because it just didn't work one day. Several of the connectors were burned. The good news is that Westland can fix you up for a little over $300 if you can replace it yourself. Since that time, I always unplug the WD when not in use. I strongly suspect that vibration on a powered up board is what damaged mine.

RE: wiengrard vs kingdome

My old Kingdome went bact to the factory several times for "repairs". They never could get it to work on anything but a clear day with no morning dew. I dumped it for a Winegard Travler and have been 100% happy for the last 3 years.

RE: What is this ?

Based on the coax connector and data cable, my guess would be part of a Satellite TV system.

RE: what tv channels are on which satellites

A lot of HD locals are not listed on the linked site. There is a complete list from a source that is not trying to sell anything. I have it, I just have to find it.
