RE: AAA Rant

we have been r v ing for about 14 years now and never Plan the route, I know the general way I will go,and than go with the flo...... what ever pops up we do, we have a good knowledge of the areas and stay away from campgrounds and will dry camp and talk to the people in the areas where we stay. more fun that way, no set path we have to follow......

RE: Craggy Wash, Lake Havasu City

They extended the airport runway, so they moved the camping area back for safety reasons, not just closing it for no reason. was there in Feb and March, we opted to stay south at ,,, the steps, just before Bill Williams bridge area, much nicer area we think......

RE: truck hauler

Is the ranger an auto transmisson or stick?, 2 wheel or 4 x 4 ? if its a 2 wheel drive and stick or auto, it could be towed backwards on a tow dolly, if you need to tow it 4 down as I do and its an auto a drive line disconect could be installed, they would run in the range of $1500.00 installed (I think about the same price as a trailer).......... otherwise a trailer could be used. My first towed unit was an 86 toyota auto trans long box, first time out we used a carhauler trailer, next trip ( all to AZ) we towed flat 4 down, I disconected the drive shaft and thats the way we did it until we changed cars..

RE: What do you do when you're in freezing weather?

we will be following in your footsteps in a couple of days, do it every year, same route. I dont really worry about freezing, I empty the tanks before I head that way, drain the main lines, put antfreeze in the tanks, and carry about 7 gals of water in gallon jugs, that will get us home to eastern Wa, we go ahead and use the bathroom and sinks that little bit of water dosent hurt even if it freezes, than when we get home will drain what little there is in the tanks. We have done it this way for about 9 years and had no problems,,,,

RE: Somebody PLEASE talk me out of it!

I have an 07 and am very pleased with it........ that being said, there is a world of difference between the new ones and the older ones. Have not heard of any problems with the roof on the 12s, do a lot of checking of the unit first, we have an outside radio, but have only used it 2 times, I think it comes standard on newer units. there are a lot of the newer super 'C' that look good..... ck them out and see what ones would fill the bill for you......

RE: Open new campground

We were going to do that several years ago (now that I think of it it was 10yrs to 15 yrs) we had the land, 25 acres, with a lake, had a 2nd party with the money to foot the bill, we were going to build it by ourselves, I run all heavy equ and have built several golf courses so I am ok with all the underground work required. The wife runs a landscaping company so that end was covered, It would have been all pullthrus, large sights, winter access for the snowmobiling crowd ect......... just as we were set to go a large wrench was thrown in the works WATER. The indians in the area put a stop to any wells, as they clamed it was thier water and we could only do 1 well for the 25 acres and there was a rush for permits, up to a 3 year wait............ that took care of that real quick.... still wish I had done it good luck

RE: New to RVing! Did we get a good set up?

11,000 miles, on that old of a rig, I sure would look at the tires, if it has been setting that long, they will look good, BUT, they will need to be replaced............

RE: Quartzsite is alive and well

For us its smaller than several years ago, we have been here for the last 10 years or so, however its vender areas are up from last year, but still down from 3 years ago. The Main Event area has about 1/2 the venders of the past, but many of them moved into less costly area to set up....... Dont get me wrong its still a great experence, if you havent don it do it..........
