RE: tv as rear view monitor

Ok, did it & it works! Spent $30.00 on Woot. Came with a 12volt rear view waterproof color camera & a 3.5 inch monitor. Was able to use the original cable. Cut off the end of cable at original rear camera. Found yellow wire is the video. Shield cover for this wire is ground. Red wire is power. Just 3 connections here to make. Camera came with a hole saw for a drill to make a perfect hole in a pice of plastic from a discarded printer. Used that to sit inside of original camera housing. Inside Rv first I connected the yellow wire from original cable using a video connector from Radio Shack, plugged into overhead tv. Got a beautiful color picture, 27 inch !Found at rear of tv where electric plug comes out & goes into an outlet that kills the power when Rv starts. Pulled it out of that plug & stuck it into one inside the entertainment cabinet that has power when driving. It all works when you fire up generator. Since then I decided to unplug video cable & pug it into the 3.5 inch monitor provded & sit it on top up the original monitor. On my next trip I will switch it back & forth to see which I prefer.

planning a colorado trip

Have decided to visit my son & his family in Denver Colorado area this summer. Will be going from here in Jacksonville Florida. Plan to leave June 1st & come back Sept 1st. Looking for advice on campgrounds in the Denver area. 30 ft. Holiday Rambler class A. Taking my Lab dog & pulling a toad. Maybe Chatfield state park. Also need one with extended stay rates. Have all the books & websites just prefer opinions of folks who have had good expierences. Thanks !

RE: LED versus LCD

Love my 32 Vizio except for the sound. I took care of that by hooking it up to my Bose surround sound system. I was told Vizio was American made but didn't investigate that.

RE: slide will not close

If it's the same as my 2005 Holiday Rambler I have the manual overide procedure. I can e-mail if you let me know. Don't try to force it until you know what kind it is. Some have a brake lever on the unit that must be disengaged before it will push in.

tv as rear view monitor

Had a friend/customer with a Safari diesel pusher whose tv monitor was also his back up monitor. My Weldex system has gone out yet again & I really don't want to buy another one. Anyone know if I can use my overhead tv asd a back up monitor. I have a good camera. Your thoughts? Will probably experiment later in the week.

RE: Slapping mirrors

Had a mirror slap also. Bike rider not in the bike lane but on the white line. 18 wheeler coming at us from the other direction, guess what a cyclist on his side of the road too! We both had to move closer to the center of the 2 lane highway. As our mirrors whacked, I imagined my mirror coming off & destroying that side of the RV. Suddenly it hit me.. what about the cyclist & the mirror on the other side. Had it hit him? I imagined him lying on the side of the road. I was the only one who stopped. He was ok (I asked him), the truck kept going & I don't know how but the mirror on my Holiday Rambler Admiral was fine!

RE: Help please from AL to Yellowstone

Each time we have gone to Yellowstone from Florida we have not allowed enough time. Just Yellowstone needs a week. Places like Mt Rushmore just a day or even a half day. Zion we stayed a day but needed 3. Bryce a half day but should have stayed 3 and so on. The best way is to go but put no time limit on anything. Decide if you can once you get there. It's tough to do if you are a planner like me but once you're retired for a while it becomes easier.

RE: Camper Fitting into site at Yellowstone

We also have stayed there several times. Some sites are tighter than others & driving thru some of the campgrounds can be tight especially the Mammoth one, which by the way, we arrived with no reservation and it was full as were all others but one at the south entrance. We entered the North entrance after driving all day hoping we could stay at Mammoth. The first question asked was Do you have a reservation. We were able to find a site but at the southern part of the park. Fishing Bridge is recommended for Rv's who want full hook ups. Remember if you choose to stay in one of the other campgrounds you won't have hook ups and can only run your generator a few hours a day. When we go back We will stay at Fishing bridge to have hookups because we take a baby who needs his bottle heated at night in the micro wave. Also will call ahead from the road to make sure we will have a sight when we get there. Just my opinion :)
