RE: Georgia State Parks have openings for camp hosts!

GeorgiaStateParks: Thank you for the information.
Do the campsites offered to the hosts have full hookups?

RE: Georgia State Parks have openings for camp hosts!

Wow, golf course hosts?......now that sounds up my alley. ;)
Are the golf courses located at state park sites?....and the state park has both a campground and a golf course onsite?
Or are the golf courses not located at a state park and are just state park owned and have a campground adjacent to the golf course?

RE: Tires for my Granite Ridge

Are those Bridgestones going to be highway tread or mud & snow tread?
They are a highway tread.

RE: Tires for my Granite Ridge

Dennyf;
Don't you mean "Firestone" Transforce tires instead of Goodyear?
I am in the market for new tires for our Granite Ridge also.
I've been quoted $1,076 for the Firestone Transforce, $994.00 for a set of Coopers, $1,446 for Michelin LTX, and around $1,400 for a set of Bridgestone Duravis R250.
I'm leaning toward the Bridgestones.

RE: Hitch-mounted bike carriers

We have a Yakima two-bike hitch rack.
Very solid construction and the keyed-alike lock systems are handy to use.

RE: RV parks on lake Michigan

Wife and I stopped at Grand Haven State Park CG this afternoon and measured many of the RV site widths. 24'-26' was what we found. As wide or wider than the average private CG site
Did you measure perpendicular to the lines?
We have camped there several times and sure haven't experienced sites of that size. The end of our awning was less than 1.5' from the trailer on the adjacent campsite and we were tight against the other side.
They have a beautiful beach, a fantastic restroom/shower building and a great boardwalk to town but we can't handle the size of the campsites we have had there. When the neighbors are sitting out under their awning, they are literally a foot from our rig...and their conversations sound like they are taking place inside our motorhome. Much too close for us.
It's a very busy place and difficult to get a reservation at so there is no incentive to increase the size of the campsites. Too bad they don't have any more available land. Transforming the beach parking lot into additional campsites would probably be frowned upon. ;)
We much prefer the beach campsites at Holland State Park.

RE: Kwikee steps won't retract

Well, it warmed up enough this morning that I thought I would go out and try a few more things.
First thing I did was open the coach door...and immediately "Bam".....I heard the sweet sound of the step motor humming and saw the steps retracting. GREAT feeling!!
I opened and closed the door several more times and everything works fine.
I think the problem was a lack of lubrication at the linkage arm and pivot ball location. I routinely lubricate other moving parts on the steps but failed to lubricate this part.....ever.
It was a cold day here yesterday and it must have just got hung up on that dry joint in the cold air. I think it broke free after being lubed up good yesterday and with the warmer air today.
I was telling the DW yesterday that we were lucky it happened in our driveway and at a time that we weren't leaving for a trip....or in a campground as we were packing up to go home.
Thanks to all for your help.

RE: Kwikee steps won't retract

We have a "step" switch on a panel just inside the door that when turned on cancels the automatic operation and keeps the steps extended at all times.
I have played with this switch and still can't get the steps to retract.

I just tried to pull on the steps while opening (and closing) the screen door. Got nothing.

RE: Kwikee steps won't retract

I was thinking that if the magnetic door switch was bad that the steps would still retract when the ignition was started.
Is that true?

RE: Kwikee steps won't retract

I just gave both ends of that linkage arm a good lube.
Nothing budged....I gave the steps a little shake too.

RE: Kwikee steps won't retract

After photographing it a while ago I gave both ends a good shot of Kwik lube but it didn't help. I will go out and do it again.
Could an "urging" with a hammer on the top of the linkage help?

Kwikee steps won't retract

Went out to the rig this morning and opened the door and the steps opened fine. When finished with jobs inside I exited and closed the door.....and the steps wouldn't retract. They worked fine all last weekend many times.
I checked the battery and it is fully charged. The ground wire is secure and clean.
While the coach exit door was closed I started the ignition to see if the automatic retraction would work....it would not.
I'm no mechanic but the angle and position of the linkage (arm) looks strange to me. It looks like it's riding high on the "pin" or shaft end. Please looks at the photos below and see if this is a normal position for it when the steps are extended.

RE: Four Winds Casino (Hartford, MI)

Okay, thank you.
Guess we'll have to head over to Firekeepers instead.
We haven't been there since they started construction of the hotel but it sounds like they still have a small area for RV's to park/overnight in the northeast corner of the property.
