RE: Convincing my father in law - Dangerous towing.

I agree the kids safety comes first. If I remember correctly you stated you wife was in agreement with you. Try to get her involved also she may have more pull/input than you. Good luck and keep the kids safe.

RE: How many use wood blocks under there HWH Jacks

We have 2012 Sunova which has 22.5 wheels. Our street has a slight slope to the nose of the unit. I use the auto mode and it raises the front about 4" and then drops the rear jacks. Levels front to rear then does the side to side thing. I believe the front jacks have a line to allow the fluid to transfer from 1 side to the other with the rear doing the total side to side. Using manual I can lift the front wheels off the ground. I would call Winnebago and get some help/answers.

RE: Class A purchase

While all are good units, it is very hard to beat anything Winnebago. They have outstanding customer service, lots of great info on their website and I believe are the only manufacturer to host a national rally at their own campground. Good luck whichever way you go.

RE: Towing a car trailer

With our 99 and 06 F53 I always towed in OD and only shifted to prevent the tranny from searching for gears. Haven't towed with the new unit yet as we just got it last week.

RE: Operating costs

While we do not have a Via here is my opinion. If comparing a MH and trailer you would need to include your tow vehicle as that is the main difference. Since you have pretty much the same appliances etc in each. The MH is probably driven less miles than the tow vehicle so it is a little hard to say. Both have there advantages it just depends on your preferences for travel. We would not give up our MH for anything else.

RE: Secure storage under cover

We have ours stored in an secured fenced storage facility with it inside a 40 x 20 enclosed unit on cement with electric and pay $325. Not bac price for the Des Moines area. We like the fact that when it is not in use it is protected from the weather.

RE: where to get oil changed

We take our to the local Chevy dealer here in town and they change the oil etc. They are a very large dealer and have lifts to handle truck etc. Cost $58 and they check everything under the floor. Very happy with the service they give.

RE: Coach pops GFCI

A friend has an 08 Tour Master and it does the same thing. Problem was traced to the inverter and it was checked by the factory and everything was working as it was supposed to. Still does not work with GFI. So he is just going to use a battery charger when needed.
