RE: 2-cycle tools

2 leaf blowers (2 stroke)
1 Generator (not TH one)
1 weed eater (2 stroke)
1 tine tiller
1 mulcher
2 motorcycles
2 Atv's
1 Chainsaw
1 mower
1 pressure washer
All but atv's are over ten years old. They worked fine up to about 5 years ago. I suspect the gas was re-formulated at that point. I can also say that my workbench never had a problem with paint coming off from gas till about 5 years ago. The red paint on my jerry can also comes off with the gas now. it's like 50 years old!
If you use the little bottles of 2 stroke oil, good for 1-2 gal of gas, the label says it has fuel stablizer included. my hoses and line still melt. Try using silicone hose if you can find it in correct size.

RE: First Post, Big Problems

Sorry to hear about your problem. When our Tahoe (THOR) was in it's first year, the tub developed a crack at the drain. It saturated the OSB floor around it. They fixed it under warranty and I opened the skirt underneath to let it dry out. Not a big fan of OSB for floors - would like to see 7/8" or thicker marine plywood.
After looking at the construction of the unit, they placed the walls on the floor and the floor spans the outriggers. This makes it very difficult to replace it like new IMO. I have noticed that OSB re-solidifies and becomes solid after it dries out. It might not be in the shape you want though. (bent, warped, ect). Do you live in a hot dry area during the summer? I would try drying it out without putting stress on the soft areas. ...worth a try.
Good luck.

RE: Rubicon Run

There are lots of rocks and drops. I have never driven a Rhino but it would probably make it. If it doesn't or you don't feel comfortable, just stop at one of the bypasses and watch everyone else negotiate the trail. My first trip was halfway then back. Watching is good fun. There are some primative campgrounds at Loon lake or some people stay on the flats.

RE: Rubicon Run

About 30 years ago was my first time on the rubicon. I think we spotted two other vehicles on the trail back then. Last time was '07 or '08. I couldn't beleive the amount of vehicles on the trail and crazy young one's testing their rigs!. Great memories for me!
Pop a few cold ones and enjoy the show!

RE: wheel bearings

If you just repack the bearings, it's very important to use the same base of grease currently in use. If you change the grease base, the hubs, bearings, seals and spindles need to be completely cleaned of the old grease.
mixed grease bases will 'fight' each other. Improper lubrication will result.

RE: Off the wall - diesel forklift MPG question

The forklift worked fine, gulps down the fuel though. The reason for this post and I forgot to mention, is the fuel gauge is broke. They were asking how often it would need fuel. It's a 1990 Hyster on it's last miles! They are going to top it off every evening so it should be OK.
Thanks.

RE: Off the wall - diesel forklift MPG question

LOL, I am the poor sucker! It has a 3 speed, although it can go plenty fast, steering will get squirly.
Just need to do it for a few weeks...

Off the wall - diesel forklift MPG question

We have a 4cyl Perkins powered 20k lb diesel forklift.
What would be an approximate MPG for this unit?
Driving to/from the load would be most of the use. Example;
Drive 5 miles to pick up 3 pallets and move them 600', then drive back. and do this 3 times a day.
Thanks!

RE: Feel compelled to say why I chose my truck...

My truck has been great! The only problem was a big white moth crashing into the "Ambient Air Temp Sensor", but the folks on this board knew all about that problem so a paper towel took care of it.
Beauty in simplicity is what the 5.9 is all about. You need a Phd to work on the new trucks! My only real complaint is diesel -it was cheaper than gas when I bought the truck. ...what happened?

RE: Metal Valve Stem maintenance

This might open a can of worms...
I replaced my valve stems to metal last month because the rubber ones were rotting.
The diagram on back of the metal valve stem card showed the rubber gasket on the inside of rim with metal lockwasher then nut on outside. This is opposite of your pic amxpress.
Which way is the right way?

RE: Other uses for the Toyhauler

Other uses,
Haul 16' shiplap siding from the lumberyard.
Use as makeshift kitchen while remodeling the house kitchen.
Most toyhaulers have built-in generators, it's there if you need it.
Standby use in the event of disaster -knock on wood.
Garage is good for temp storage if needed.

Thank you for the good reliable information Kendallp.
Do you know if my interior light fixtures will be big enough for these ...pic below. Thanks, and any tricks to mounting them? My old (expensive)LED's were integrated with the bulb base.

RE: WAXING LESSONS LEARNED

I can't vouch for the other products listed, but Mother's Products have worked superb for me. The Carnuba wax (big tin), the Back to Black (moulding bumper/trim enhancer), and the Clay Bar Syetem (removes tar, tree sap, dried bugs etc from finish) work so good I don't bother with anything else.

RE: More on Tire Valves...

To tell the truth, I am one of the cheapo guys. I knowingly bought Chinese tires and stems last year with all the negative talk of Chinese tires.
My personal flow chart now reads;
is it rubber? is it made in China? If if yes to both, don't buy it.

More on Tire Valves...

More info found on my other tire valve post...

Check Your Valve Stems!

With all the talk of Chinese tires, I have been checking mine very often. They were installed new about a year ago and I run 70psi.
My wife called me at work and said the TH had a flat tire. Upon inspection, one of the valve stems broke off while trying to add air. The rubber was disintegrating at the contact area of the rim. I wiggled the 2nd tires valve stem and air released at extreme bend. They are made in china. I bought 4 metal screw-on stems to replace them. Metal bolt on valve stem

RE: Modern travel trailers that will not break the bank?

This is not what you are looking for, but it has that european look and design. It also, (to me) seems very well made and thought over. The MPG is not bad either.

RE: Crank Handle for Spare Tire.

Check the lug nut size on your trailer wheels and make sure the TV lug wrench will work. If it doesn't, buy a 4-way wrench at Harbor Freight or other store. It should work the spare drop down nut and your trailer/TV lugs.
I know this for a reason :)
