RE: Pulse charger

Pulse Tech makes a nice product. I also bave a BatteryMinder in which I brought back to life a three year old lawnmower battery and ran it for about 6 or 7 more years. The biggest diference between the models I have is the pulse Tech will charge a battery faster and maintain it where as the BatteryMinder must have a more charged battery to start with and it will just maintain it.

RE: Walmart parking lot stays - need advice please

I never had a safety issue where it is allowed. I also find ones that are open 24 hrs to be very accomidation but you may be better off at a campground. On several occasions DW spent more $$$ in Walmart than a campground cost.

RE: Memphis South RV Park & Campground reviews

Never stayed there but when we went to Memphis it was to Graceland and we stayed right there. It was like a bare bones park but we felt completely safe with hookups and swiming pool. The campground was right in back of the Heartbreak Hotel with all of the Elvis attractions within walking distance.

RE: Battery or batteries I dont know?????

As many hsve stated 2-6V are better than 2-12V but I prefer 12V batteries. If sometime I need a a battery for my car or something I can borrow the RV house battery when not in use. Using A 12v you can get by with 1 unless you need more power. Then, all you have to do is add a second or third or whatever. I will say if you get that big you might as well have 6V ones though. Presently I have 1-12V group 24. It has been fine for me but I don't just park it for extended times as I am on the go. The most I have boondocked is 2 days and I have stayed in a campground where I can plug in on the third day.

RE: Looking at Leisure travel Dodge 360 ?

Both are good engines without much problems. When I was a mechanic I always did like Fords best but I have to admit Chrysler 318, 360 and their slant 6 were some of the best engines made. I have the 318 and get between 15 & 17 MPG depending on how we drive and if city driving is a factor. On strictly highway I have gotten a little over 17MPG. Someday I will take it easy to see just what is possible.

RE: Oil Test Kits

I have done it a few times when I had a problem. My thrust bearing wore into the crank and after it was changed the annalysis showed the same thing happening. I know a lot of you won't agree with my solution but I don't care. I used one of those PTFE teflon oil treatments. Additional oil annalysis showed the problem stopped and I continued to drive the car well over 100,000 more miles before I sold it and they continued driving it for several years before they sold it with nothing wrong. Since then I just change the oil using synthetic changed twice a year. Keep in mind synthetic will last longer but as a previous poster said it looks dirty, well that dirt is is still dirt wearing away at the bearings and such and the only way to get rid of it is change it.

RE: Our job growth here leads the whole USA

That's good on one hand but any idea on how much all these jobs pay. On my last job I ended up taking home less after 4 years than the day I started. When I was looking for one (it's bad around here) many of the openings were low paying jobs. I have seen some places constantly look for workers because no one could live off what the place paid. Of course workers also have an advantge when all the places need workers like you say. If they don't get treated right they can quit in the morning and be working for someone else in the afternoon. Employers would know that and treat workers better.

RE: Generator elect problem

I had the same problem on my last trip last summer, It wouldn't crank unless the van engine was running. This winter when I went to excercise it it wouldn't start at all no matter what. I changed the battery, cleaned the contact ponts and added an additional ground cable. After all that it didn't do a thing. The only other solution was the solonoid. Due to an injury I couldn't do anything so a friend dropped it and changed it for me even though I couldn't even be there to help. Oh he also bench tested the starter and it was fine. So anyway It still won't start and I mean even with a battery charger and jumper cables on it and/or engine running. I am trying to get the time to drop it again. I have no real idea what the problem is but I hope it is something like a bad ground on the solonoid. I also want to try to start it while it is dropped rather than putting it all together to see that it doesn't work. At least then I may be able to troubleshoot it. I hope you have better luck with yours. When you get it fixed please let me know what the problem is.

RE: Magic Jack

I don't have Magic Jack but I do have something that is probably the same thing. I have a T Mobile cell phone and they had a home unit that works over the internet for $10 a month. Overall it is good but on a number of occasions I had to reboot it and others it would just drop out for a while. It came back but if I had to make a call at that time I would have to use the cell phone. I can't say that I had near the trouble with tho old landline. I also must comment that i have Time Warner for the internet and on a number of occasions that was down too, causing the phone to be out. Sometimes I didn't know which was the problem as the only way I was able to tell was to dissconnect the phone unit and connect the computer directly to the cable modem to see if it works. I found the easiest and fastest way was to reboot both. Do I like it? Considering Time warner has been raising the rates $5 per month every year I am currently looking at other options, but that really has a lot to do with the cable provider. Would I consider the same thing with another cableprovider? Probably yes it would really depend on what I would save.

RE: Re-painting fiberglass roof on a "B"

I'v been considering on painting mine too. I use to be in the body paint business 15 years ago and the best paint to do something like that was Imron. Someone told me that it is no longer around but I will check my local dupont dealer if I decide to do it because Imron is the way to go. It is more expensive but it last, stays glossy longer and flexes better than any paint at the time as well as it was the most resistant to any chemicals. I never worried about tree sap landing on my car even after what I saw it did to a few paints. It reminds me of a time when some kid was going to egg my car. I took a egg myself and broke it on my hood then walked away, he couldn't believe what just happened.

RE: Onan Schematic

I dont know how to make a clicky but you should find it here http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85628 Bushey562 that may be about what I need. Their diagram is a little hard to follow but I think I have it translated. Now if I can make the connection to the real thing I just may solve it. thanks

Onan Schematic

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2.8 Onan I think it is a KY series but not totaly sure. I am having problems with just a clicking noise that I believe is the solonoid clicking when I try to start it. I already changed the solonoid and cables and tried another battery so I believe it has to be in the starting wire circuit. I tried to download the manuel but all I get is an error message. I also welcome other suggestions but would sure like the schematic

RE: Onan 2.8 clicking

Handbasket your last sentance really says it. I wish we would have done that. I probably would have tried it but I had to get to work and a friend finished the job. I really thought the new solonide and new cables would have done the trick but thay didn't As for which battery starts it I remember when the house battery was bad it would not start. The vehicle battery has always been good. One thought I thought of today wasif one of the switches or wires/connections are bad causing not enough juice to activate the solonoid. If this is the case where is the best place to start? Are the switches (one inside and one on the unit) completely seperate or are they connected?

Onan 2.8 clicking

Last time I used the B I had to have the vehicle running or the genny would just click. Now it just clicks reguardless. Thought a bad battery so replaced that and connections. Dropped it and the starter is good and replaced the solinoid. Still no good. Any ideas?

I think the writers did a good job but Ashton wasn't in the same class as Charley Sheen. It seema Charley can make the show almost on just the way he is.

RE: Synthetic oil vs mineral oil

I use synthetic in everything my push mower, the riders, pressure washer, generator, car, van and any other 4 cycle. I don't bother with my 2 cycle weed eater though. I've been doing this for probably 30 years. On your lawnmower if it pulls easy but won't start that is not compression, Now some engines will have a compression reducer so you can start it easier. I was told they can hold a valve open just a little to relieve the high pressure but tight enough to have enough to start, then once started the valve closes fully. I don't know what you have but if you pull the plug out is it still that hard to pull. If it pulls easy you probably should take it to get repaired.
