RE: Spray Clear Coat On Trim

Bleach is bad for the plastics..makes it brittle and more prone to fade. Mildew grows on dirt, eliminate the dirt and no more mildew. If after you clean it well, apply some 303 Aerospace Formula on it...it will stop UV damage and make it tough for mold and mildew to get a foothold.

RE: galley on slide-out

When they were first coming out with slideout kitchen there were some issues with bent, kinked and even broken water and propane lines...haven't heard of any issues in many, many years. Appears that they worked out the "kinks"...ha-ha-ha! :)

RE: Gas tank vapor hose deterioration

We had a 1997 Ford Escort California emission car, that had almost 200,000 miles on it, my wife and i drove it, both kids used it for school too. The rubber emission hoses, vacuum hoses, and vapor recovery hoses all deteriorated and fell apart into "oreo bits"! The cost of replacing all the hoses and the fact that the Escort transmission was slipping (and would cost $$$) to fix, all ended up with us just donating it to charity. Sorry to have seen it go, it was an amazingly trouble free car!

New to RVing..or want a better deal on a new one next time?

This is interesting...but what do you all think? No matter if you want to start your own RV sales lot, or already have a RV Dealership. Sort of like a 7-11 franchise or a Taco Bell...or even a Dodge/Ford/Toyota dealer! I haven't seen anything like this before...and on the surface it sounds like a great idea. Sort of like a hassle free way to get the best prices. Without going to a wholesale non-factory authorized dealer with no dealer warranty support. Riverside RV and Evergreen (including the new division Lifestyle RV formerly Carriage RV) have signed up and will provide volume wholesale "best priced" RV's to the new Family Tree Dealer Franchises. Story here.... HERE

RE: New Life Style Fiver

EverGreen Recreational Vehicles situated in Middlebury, Indiana announced the name of its much-anticipated high-performance fifth wheel division called "Lifestyle Luxury Resort Vehicles. It is considered to be the standalone division, which is located in its own separate 100,000 square-foot plant currently purchased in Middlebury. As per Elliott Bond, the national sales manager, this all new division will ultimately employ large number of people comprising nearly entirely of original main Carriage employees." Mega Kudo's to Evergreen for doing this!

RE: Manufacturer Hiearchy?

When buying an older model...if the prior owner was a fanatic about maintaining his RV properly is more important than the actual RV manufacturer for the most part. Leaks and rot are the biggest RV killers out there. What's the cancer that kills even the best made RV? Negect.

The very fact that the folks here belong to the best RV Forum on the planet...and have all the "expert", experienced and educated RVers here as a resource..no one here is stupid enough to... http://www.jokedujour.com/bus/camper-or-truck.jpg height=200 width=200 especially not in a WALMART parking lot with your black tank valve open while running your generator while your dog is running loose and while playing extremely loud Merle Haggard music on your leaky Chinese Tires Motorhome! http://carphotos.oldride.com/gallery/594486708.jpg height=200 width=200

"Hello Earthlings..we come in peace!" Winegard's RoadStar 3000...around $65.00 for the 1500 model...so the 3000 will likely be around $100.00. http://www.winegard.com/pressroom/images/RS-3000_lo.jpg height=250 width=250 http://davysgirl1994.bravehost.com/alien4.gif height=300 width=300

RE: R.V. storage

T-N-T Carports gets a awful http://www.foodsafetyfirst.ca/images/dminus.png height=50 width=50 from the National Better Business Bureau Ratings website! 81 closed complaints, and nearly double that are unresolved! Most of the unanswered complaints concern the company not finishing the work or failing to fix work that was improperly completed. Several complaints concern repeated failure to make scheduled appointments to install the structures. Complaints include Advertising/Sales Issues 8, Billing/Collection Issues 2, Delivery Issues 17, Guarantee/Warranty Issues 5, Problems with Product/Service 49. Also on the local Yahoo business Reviews website, all the customers responding give it the lowest possible rating. Examples-"Well so far they have missed 5 scheduled install dates. Been going on for a month and a half." And another-"I am also dissatisfied with my carport as it did not survive one Maine winter even though they told me it would if I bought heavy duty. Their warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on", and another says " Warning! They also are doing business as American Steel Carports and American Steel Inc. They are unresponsive to problems!" Elephant Structures in contrast, gets a very good A- rating, only 3 resolved complaints fixed to the customers satsfaction.

Our sincere prayers are with you and Ziggy. So sorry for what certainly would get anybody down....but keep the faith my friend. RE: Jayco Seismic

That is probably the only one out there at this point! There may likely one or two more prototypes, but they haven't left the factory! Jayco says they will not be a dealers till March 2012. They are taking orders for them now. As of 1/13/2012 the official copyright was approved to Jayco Industries for the title and name "Seismic" by the U.S. federal trademark registration office. They now have the rights to use the Seismic name for "Vehicles and Products for locomotion by land, air or water". Seismic from Jayco This is not an official Jayco video..it was done by a dealer at the RV Show, the same Seismic you saw at the Denver Camping World. http://www.rvbusiness.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/jaycoseismic4.jpg height=300 width=300

RE: Jayco X19 Considering

The following options you should order...because they are reasonably priced, and you'll kick yourself in the asp if you don't...do not ask me how I know this! 7 Jayco's worth of experience until I finally learned I guess! 1) The 6 cu.ft. refrigerator (plenty of room for week or so when away from the grocery store.) 2) 6-gal. gas/electric water heater (you don't have to use your propane when you have electric hookups.) 3) Customer Value Package Customer Value Package with 15,000 BTU A/C (On hot days you'll thank me!) We've rarely used the oven by the way. And the storage you get from deleating the oven helps! 4) And the Electric Tongue Jack. ( A back saving feature that pays for itself!) Keep us posted...and Jayco is a terrific choice!

RE: lubricating equalizer hitch

Lube it up...but use Slip Plate dry Graphite spray or RemOil Dry Teflon spray...does not trap or hold gunk and goop like grease. The geomety of the 4 point design is what dials out the sway, "continual resistance", not so much friction except for the people who use the "friction sway bars" that are a waste of time.

RE: towed w/ our diesel for the 1st time

Just let the tow/haul mode do it's work! It will monitor all the performance info fed into it, RPM, load, air temperatures, temperatures of engine, oil and tranny, even the steepness of the hill you are on or the down grade. It will select the proper gears and match everything to perfection. You just sit back and steer...and as with all diesel owners pulling up a hill...you'll grin like a complete idiot the whole time! http://rlv.zcache.com/big_grin_smiley_face_sticker-p217746367994550126z85xz_400.jpg height=100 width=100

RE: Royal Canin

Royal Canin recalled products on April 20, 2007 due to the presence of a melamine derivative in the rice protein concentrate in some of its dry pet food products. Since then, they have been very diligent in the testing of every batch of food made, and there has been no more incidents. In gerneral, this incident was a wakeup call for the entire dog food industry.

RE: Suggestions: Solid Open Road Fiver 30-34 Feet

I second the Arctic Fox 5ers, since they are a quality unit from a privately owned company, and they also understand customer service. And unusual in this price range they build their own frames...rugged and strong. They also have some smaller 5ers such as the Model 27-5L at 28' 6"...however the loaded weight is 12,000 lbs. Jayco has a new line of light weight 5ers, the Eagle Super Lite HT 23.5 RBS, starting at 25' 8" long and 9950 lbs gvwr. And 2 more at 29'7" and another at 29' 11". Keystone Cougar has a 27RKS Xlite at 26' 9" and gvwr of 9060 lbs. And a 28' 9" and 28' 9" model. Keystone has several shorter floor plans.

RE: Looking for good Campground in CA

Lake Cachuma! HERE! 304 miles, 5 hours away from you guys! Tents, RV Spaces with hookups, showers and a beautiful fish packed lake in the beautiful Santa Barbara Mountains. They also rent Yurts, boats, bikes and have a general store. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3418/3380634524_4bd6204f97_z.jpg height=220 width=220 It's ran by the Santa Barbara County Parks and Recreation Dept. Our kids took their bikes and rode completely aroung the big lake! Nice place...one of our favorite. But they didn't take reservations last time we were there, supposedly they do now!

Do you really love your Dog? Good food vs cheap food.

Only if you love your dog should you read this...I'm not saying that you should eat beans and rice so your dog can eat steak! http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Zx1P26c7VtU/TKI6ASFjzFI/AAAAAAAAANE/LsJGhBKJ1bQ/s1600/Skinny+Guy.jpg height=100 width=100 Just be aware of what's IN the dog food you do buy. I've lost my dogs over the years, as many of us have, thru old age...and cancer raised it's ugly head as well. 60% of all Golden Retrievers die from it. Roughly 40% of all dogs get cancer, and 25% die from cancer. By comparison less than 15% of us Humans sucumb from cancer. Ethoxyquin-It's just one of the many, many ingredients in the dog food we are feeding to our beloved companions. Ethoxyquin has been linked to thyroid, kidney, reproductive and immune related illnesses as well as cancer. I researched this myself recently about dog foods, and you can READ ABOUT DOG FOOD IN GENERAL in my blog HERE- The latest research tends to indicate that high protein content is not, as previousily thought...bad at all (kidney issues)...and in fact good for the animal. After much research on ingredients and brands, reading up on dog dietary needs, "blind taste tests" on abby (really!) we settled on "Candida" brand dog food, there are cheaper foods that are nearly as good...but just don't fall for the newest trend to slap a "natural" label on the same old dog food brands! http://cdn.whole-dog-journal.com/media/newspics/Food.jpg height=100 width=100 LOL! "Candida" with the first main ingredients chicken meal, turkey meal and lamb meat with 34% protein content. Then Lamb and fish meal. And no wheat (many dogs scratch and have skin issues due to wheat allergies), grains, artificial colors, natural preservatives, and no 20 letter unpronounceable chemical names. 'Ol Roy (Walmart) for example has listed on their label as the 1st 4 ingredients Ground yellow corn, soybean meal, ground whole wheat, corn syrup. And "by product meal", and "animal digest" which is made from parts of the animal that are "not fit for human consumption". And can include any kind of animal...and include: "4-D animals" (dead, diseased, disabled, or dying prior to slaughter), goats, pigs, horses, rats, miscellaneous roadkill, animals euthanized at shelters, restaurant and supermarket refuse and so on. Bletch! :E Yeah, I know premium stuff costs more than a bag of 'Ol Roy Walmart brand! But meat costs more than wheat and corn...right? And the dog will require LESS of a premium brand, due to less being needed to maintain weight, so it evens out somewhat. Less poop and odor is also a plus! I wasn't sure about "meal" in dog foods, and was looking for a first ingredient to be like "Chicken meat" or "Beef". But we found that the term "meal" means the meat was solid protein, all real meat and it already has the water removed. But if the label says "Chicken Meat" it it is weighed for protein content and weighed raw, so when 16 oz of meat is cooked/processed and added to the bag of dog food as protein content, you get less per pound protein than you would with "meal"! I also cut out all of her supermarket and Walmart dog snacks (Pupperoni with it's nitrites and atrificial smoke flavors),..too many fake and false floavorings and ingredients and salt/sugars. She gets natual grain free snacks now..in moderation. And carrots, peas apple slices and so on. Abby just turned 2 years old, and her coat is absolutely beautiful, spun gold in the sunlight...bright eyes, full of energy, and she sheds MUCH less hair than she did with Eukanuba, doesn't itch and scratch anymore, eats and poops LESS too! We've also taken a clue and my family are also on a more natural, less fast food diets. :) And a healthy, long life is certainly in store for Abby...hopefully Cancer free for a full 15 years plus! Good luck and hug your dog for me! And adopt a pound puppy or adult dog! http://www.funnydogsite.com/pictures/Dog_Hug.jpg height=150 width=150
