RE: camper fire

Sorry to hear about your loss.
But WOW ! I haven't heard about a lot of camper fires. I have seen a lot of RV blown apart on the interstates from wrecks, but not a lot of fires like yours.
Best of luck. I hope you are back on the road soon.

RE: Axle Mix-up

Ron,
If I am understanding your post..........Your not sure of the rating of your axles on your 5er?
Have you crawled under the 5er to read the tags on the axles?
Also there should be a placard on the 5er with all of the ratings including axles.
Or....I am not understanding the post.

RE: Slide moves while traveling

jdog,
This is new info for me. Where would I find slide locks and where would the pin go? I suppose there would be a hole in the rack gear somewhere.
Not sure which option I would want.
The clutch does not appear to be adjustable or serviceable at all. It looks as though the motor, clutch and gear box are one unit.

RE: Slide moves while traveling

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have never used the slide locks. Neither the dealer or the manual mentions them.
I'll look into the clutch situation, see if there is an adjustment or if it needs to be replaced.
I am in the process of removing the underbelly so that I can check things out. It's all one piece so it's a bear to get down. I bet it will be a real bear to get back up too.

Slide moves while traveling

My trailer was manufactured in April 2008. It has electric rack and pinion slides. I have towed this camper all over the continent without issue. On our last trip I crossed Ohio on the Turnpike. A few miles of that road are pretty rough. When we stopped my wife noticed that the kitchen slide was out on the bottom. I opened the slide a little further and then retracted it. Drove a few more hours and stopped for fuel and it was out again. About a strong inch on the bottom. This is a pretty heavy slide. It has the stove refig and pantry in it. When it moves the bottom is the first to come out and last to come in.
The slide moves in and out without any issues.
I have not ever used travel bars ( thus far )
Any thoughts about why this has started to happen all of a sudden?

RE: US 2 to Glacier from Grand Forks ?

We have stopped for the night about 10 - 15 miles from the Montana border. The trip across ND on US2 was fine. Biggest problem was wind.
There was some road construction, but nothing out of the ordinary. No detours today.
I also noticed the law of supply and demand at work. As we got further west on US 2 the price of diesel kept going up.
Thanks to everyone for their input.

CG recommendation for E Montan on US2

I am looking ahead for my next stop over for the night. I am currently in East Grand Forks MN and expect to be in eastern Montana by late afternoon. I will be traveling US 2 and looking for a stop over. Hook ups are not a concern, we can handle full or none, but need enough room for our 30 ft 5er and truck.
Any recommendations?

US 2 to Glacier from Grand Forks ?

I am on my way to Glacier NP ( USA), I am currently in East Grand Forks MN. I ran into a fellow RV er in a rest area who told me that he had heard that US 2 in ND was a tough road to travel right now due to construction and a heavy amount of oil filed related traffic. He had detoured further north based on this info.
What is the situation with US2 across ND and Montana ?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Signal Flare gun?

I have wadded through all of the info on the link I found on this forum and I can't decide if a signal flare gun would be allowed to enter Canada.
Boaters here in the state tell me that they are allowed, but I can't get conformation any where I have looked.
Anyone know?

RE: Ohio campgrounds near I-80

As mentioned Streetsboro KOA is just off the turnpike. We stay there when we need full hook ups. Campground is pretty nice and near to a lot of options for activities and shopping.
Up until last season we had a dog with us when we stayed there.

RE: Take a canoe to Glacier ?

Sorry for the confusion about which Glacier Park. I was referring to the US one.
Thanks for the input. Looks like we will be taking the canoe for the lakes.

Take a canoe to Glacier ?

We leave in about a week for a trip to Glacier, Banff and Jasper. We pull a 5th wheel and sometimes carry a canoe on the roof of the truck.
Wondering if there is enough good canoeing waters out there for the effort?
We like to paddle calm rivers and lakes, for sightseeing and fishing.

Glacier & British Columbia

Mid August we plan to head west from northern Michigan, traveling on US 2.
Our destination is Glacier Nat'l Park.Montana We also want to go to Jasper and Banff .
I have gotten some good info on this forum for Glacier, but we have just decided to add BC to the mix. My questions are around:
1) Which order to do this in.
2) Which routes to take .
3) What are the major must see things in thus area of B.C.
4) What research I have done leads me to believe that unlike our experience last year in YNP campground closings and weather may not be an issue in Sept. True ?
Thanks in advance for any input.
