RE: Question About Slide Toppers

Nah, I don't think so. Supporting the tube will not keep the water from pooling in the middle of the fabric, which was the topic of conversation.
And a center rafter in an awning runs the depth of the awning supporting the fabric, this device just supports the slide topper tube, not the fabric itself.

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

That would cradle/support the tube, but like I said it does nothing to support the slide topper fabric itself when the slide is extended.

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

I don't think that would do much when the slide is open as it looks like it is designed to support the center of the roller when the slide is closed. At least that's what it looks like to me.

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

I'll have to admit I don't understand the concern about water pooling in the slide topper. :h It causes no harm and disappears when you bring in the slides. If you don't bring in the slides it will eventually evaporate. Yeah it may mold but who is going to see it?
The toppers on our old 5er were over 6 years old, we never messed with them, and we had no issues.
I got the toppers so there would be less work. Messing around with beach balls, PVC pipe, or some such thing seems, to me, to negate any pluses. JMO of course.

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

Ours does the same thing. No biggie. The water drains out when you bring the slides in. Don't worry about it.

RE: EZ-Flex

I answered mobilefleet as his was first response I came across, but the rest seem to state the same thing.
My spring eyes should not be worn, when stock they had nylon bushings installed in the spring eyes. I did have a couple that were worn, one that was pretty bad as the hanger brackets were also worn. But none of the bushings had worn through far enough for the bolts to start wearing into the metal of the spring eyes.
I had to use a punch to actually drive out all the nylon bushings so they fit snug, wished I would have saved one to take OD measurements on. The new brass/copper? bushing I slid in using my fingers, didn't even have to push hard, they slid right in.
Guess I will run it as is for a couple trips then pull a couple apart and see if anything is happening. I did get the new bushings from Dexter so I might try to install those and see if they fit any snugger.
Don't do it!!
Something is not right and all you'll do is wear out the bushings. The grease will not penetrate to outside the bushing so it will be dry and will wear out pretty quickly as brass is pretty soft material. Even if you lube them before you put them in they will not get more lube.
You got a problem and you need to fix it, putting a bandaid on it will not solve the problem. Measure the OD of the bushing and the ID of the spring eye and call Dexter/Lippert with the dimensions.

RE: EZ-Flex

All the bushings were tight in my spring eye's on my 2010 Fuzion when I did mine, but it also only had about 2500 miles on it.

RE: street motorcycle hauling

The chocks are standard Condor chocks, and an excellent unit BTW.
I bought some flat 3/16" aluminum stock from a local metal supply shop, cut it to size, and had it welded. Then I slotted the holes for the D-rings, figured out the position for the chocks, and drilled the holes. Then I threaded the holes, countersunk the underside, and installed flat head allen bolts.
I got the idea from another guy on here who had done something similar.

RE: Fridge Noise

The fan is an easy fix. I had to replace the one on my Fuzion as it was buzzing just a bit. It looks like a standard 92 mm computer fan, so I replaced it with a waterproof unit. Not too much of a price difference: $10 for the waterproof and about $5.00 for the non-waterproof.

RE: street motorcycle hauling

Mine looks like this:

and this:
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh172/WantsFreeStuff/ChockMount2.jpg width=800
The bolts are countersunk on the bottom of the aluminum flat stock and protrude up through holes in the chocks. With the front wheel in the chock it the tie downs really only keep it from wobbling around with virtually no front fork compression. I also use a couple tie downs at the back to keep the rear end from walking around.
No need to drill any holes anywhere.
(EDIT: Resized images to fit the page.)

RE: Air Bags Needed?

It will probably depend on the actual payload of your truck. When I pulled our new toyhauler the pin weight put the truck down on the overload springs which made for a very rough ride. I installed the Firestone air bags and added about 50 psi. That got the truck off the overloads by an inch or so. The quality of the ride was tremendously improved. This is on a 2001 Dodge dually.

RE: another trailer fire

In the one pic you can see it looks like the tires are burning. No way to tell if that's what started it or whether that was a result.

RE: 5th Wheel Tripod Stabalizers?

FWIW we had a 34' Big Sky and the tripod helped a very little bit, not worth the hassle of hauling that heavy awkward thing along. With our 40' toy hauler you can't even tell the tripod is in use. Just too big, too tall, and too heavy. JMO doncha know.

RE: 5th Wheel Tripod Stabalizers?

Last time I checked setting up a tripod wasn't exactly rocket science: raise the 5er, insert tripod, lower 5er onto tripod so it's good and solid. If you have a bitty 5er they may work okay, but if you got a big'un, not so much.

You need to mention that to all those million dollar salaried CEO's. :) I think they would beg to differ. I think they live by the words of the fictional movie character: "Greed is good".

RE: Outback Steakhouse - Thumbs Down

don't get me started on restaurant safety codes etc. :)
I saw a show on cable. Can't remember the name. Restaruants needing help on lost income, no customers etc that are failing. A restaurant man will video tape employees and what they do and the kitchen etc. on how they work etc. and tell you how to fix your restaurant.
WORST (well just made me gag, but there was plenty to make me gag on this show) was when people sent food back to be boxed. The waitress ate off the plate before she boxed it for the customers. OH MAN OH MAN
just makes you want to vomit LOL
And I'm sure none of that as staged for the video for the show. Riiiight.
