RE: Triple towing with a swivel wheel trailer

We pulled a Smart Trailer behind out 34' Big Sky for three years. We never went to Florida but have pulled it in states that don't allow double towing: North Carolina, Virginia, and a couple others, without ever getting a second look. I think if you just act like a responsible driver and don't get stupid, you'll be fine.
However just because we did it and never got stopped is no guarantee that you won't be stopped. YMMV.
The swivel wheel design is the way to go as far as towing behind a 5er. We never had any trouble out of ours, and it was great when it came time to back up. A rear view camera is a necessity though so you can keep track of what is going on back there.
Good luck.

RE: Best Free Firewall?

I've used Zone Alarm and Comodo and now use the Windows 7 default firewall. Toss a coin IMO. Although it would have to be a three sided coin. :)

RE: POP/ smtp for e-mail...?

If you preferred using something other than an web based email, you might find that your ISP offers e-mail accounts. We use TimeWarner cable and you have the option of using a TimeWarner e-mail account/s.
The POP server is for incoming mail, and SMTP server is for outgoing mail.
Gmail can be set up to use a stand alone e-mail client, but not sure if Outlook can be configured to work with Gmail.

RE: Motion Induced Blindness

revump And what about the moronic motorcyclists who fly by you squeezing between vehicles, popping wheelies, and racing, who don't pay attention to any speed limit. I think that this is at least a two-way street.
There are old motorcycle riders and bold motorcycle riders but no old bold motorcycle riders.
Hmm, Giacomo Agostini may disagree with that. :) And Malcom Smith. And Joel Robert.

RE: Sewer Surprise

I have the clear section just to make sure there is nothing in the pipe before I pull the cap off. Don't tell me no one has ever had a valve fail, or leak a bit and get a sudden surprise of the nasty kind, just seems to make sense to me to see if it is clear before pulling the plug. Kind of like checking to make sure the power is off before checking the wiring.
Seems pretty "clear" to me. Better safe than sorry.

After looking at that list the only thing missing is the roll away tool box to carry that stuff.

RE: Problems with Good Sam ERS

I'll have to chime in with the unsatisfied responders. I have used it twice: the first time I never had anyone show up and changed the tire myself. This was after several calls to Good Sam. I was on Interste 40 at the time, not out in the middle of no where. The second time was a five hour wait and was finally taken care of, but only after multiple(again!) calls to Good Sam.
Pretty poor service IMO. And Service is what I'm paying for.

RE: NEW COMPUTER

Spend less on a computer. Get a stand alone hard drive. Spend a couple hundred on an external hard drive. Place all of your important stuff there. Never keep important stuff on a working drive.
Kind of a good idea, but that stand alone hard drive is just as likely as the "working drive" to take a dump. Moving parts is moving parts. If you absolutely can't lose anything then make a hard copy, i.e. DVD, CD, dead tree.

RE: Sewer Surprise

I've not seen a clear cap, but I use a clear elbow just before the cap. Works very well to see what's behind the cap. It also angles the hose better, as most of the places we've stayed at have the sewer connection to the rear of the camping spot.

RE: Quicken - some info that may be new to you

Well, call me old-fashioned, but I still use MS Money for our financial records. Microsoft no longer supports it as it has been discontinued. As a result, it has no on-line capabilities, which is fine by me.
Me thinks it's foolhardy to trust a so-called "secure server" used by Quicken/Intuit. The following link shows how hackers can get into sites that are probably more secure to begin with than anything that Quicken uses:
Saudi Arabia & Israeli Hacking Activities
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I'm still using MS Money 2002. :) All I need is a decent checkbook type program and Money fills the bill just fine. I do all my own downloading of files and it sure isn't that big of a deal IMO.

RE: Do folks actually carry passengers in their fifth-wheels?

I saw the aftermath of a fatal head on accident car vs truck towing a trailer on the Seward highway a few years back. The girls in the car drifted over the center line head on hit the truck. The girls were killed the truck almost went off the cliff and the trailer was hanging off the cliff held on by the safety chains. I would not want to be riding in that thing....
Sounds like it might have been safer than in the car.

RE: 64 bit and 32 bit Computers

...
Windows 7 uses a different filing system than XP, so drivers that would work on an XP machine may not work on a computer running Windows 7. Isn't Microsoft great? LOL
Wrong. And yes it is.
Both OS's use NTFS. XP did give you the option of FAT 32 but Windows 7 does not.

RE: Digital Camera Demand Decreasing

It does seem that more people are interested in convenience over quality. They love the convenience of their phone cameras, and seem relatively unconcerned with the lower quality of the photos compared to what they could get with a dedicated camera with better optics.
I think that the cell phone, ipad, etc. cameras have their place but so do the dedicated cameras.
