RE: Over forty campgrounds in the Moab/Arches Area

Just stop that! I've been to Moab 2 years in a row and I can't go there every year! Stop tempting me. Moab area is wonderful....
Sure you can! ;) On our way there now, 8th year in a row. We stay at Canyonlands Campground. Not because it's the nicest park there (it isn't), but because it's across the street from Moab Brewery.

RE: 2012 Roadtrip Navigator

I wish they would make a Mac version. I miss using it to find campgrounds.
Download a program called Wineskin (It's at Sourceforge). You can install the Trailer Life into it and run it on a Mac.
YMMV FWIW.
Ski
Thanks Ski, I was under the impression there wasn't a way to get around the problem other than loading Windows on my Mac. I'll give it a try.

RE: Garmin and Mac

Your suggestions worked. I found the files and successfully downloaded them onto my old GPS. However, my Mac doesn't "see" my new unit. I think I'll return my new Garmin to Costco and start over with another one. Thanks everyone for your help.

RE: Capitol Reef

I originally started this post with the idea of staying in Richfield and spending a 1/2 day in Capitol Reef. Now we're going to stay in Torrey so we can spend 2 full days there. My better half isn't thrilled with no hookups, so we'll stay at Thousand Lakes. Thanks for all the suggestions, we are excited to get there.

RE: Garmin and Mac

I have POI downloader installed and have the 10.6 version of the OS so that shouldn't be the problem. On my PC, I would hook up the Garmin, download the POI and it would show up on my unit in the "Extras" section. For some reason, on my Mac it downloads to the computer but not to the unit. I bring up POI Downloader and it asks me to pick a file to download, however I can't find the file to enter. There must be a step with the Mac I'm not doing. I hooked up an older Garmin that I have and got the same results. I think I'll dust off my old PC and try to download it there. If that doesn't work, I'll give Garmin a call. My last call to them several years ago didn't go well, but it sounds like they may have improved. Thanks n7 and Tom for responding.

Garmin and Mac

I recently purchased a new Garmin 2460. Brought it home, hooked it up to my Mac and registered the device, no problem. I hooked it back up to download some POI's. I downloaded from the POI site and it downloaded onto my Mac but didn't go to the Garmin. The Garmin now isn't showing up on my list of Devices. This is my first time trying to download stuff through my Mac. Am I missing a step?

RE: Capitol Reef

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sounds like there's enough things to see and do, so we may try to squeeze in another day. Staying in the park with the ability to have a fire has my wife reconsidering her FHU stance. Hopefully we'll catch some nice weather when we're there.

RE: If you could have one car back

69 SS396. Bought it new, the sticker price was $3900 and got it out the door for $3200. Lucky I didn't kill myself.

RE: Capitol Reef

Are there 2 days of things to do in Torrey?
In Torrey, no. There are some surprisingly good restaurants there, but not a whole lot more.
But if you like to explorer the back country, and have a 4-wheel drive at your disposal (your Rubicon would fit the bill), there are two really really nice loop roads to travel from Capitol Reef. Each of them will take the better part of a day.
The first is the Cathedral Valley loop to the north. The second is the Burr Trail Boulder loop to the south. Both are spectacular, and sufficiently different to keep you entertained.
Good. Sounds like there's enough to to see for a couple days. I have a 4X4 that loves to explore backcountry. Hopefully, we won't be there too early in the season.
Fruita sounds like a nice place, but the wife likes FHU, so thats my limitation. Thanks for the nice pics.

RE: Capitol Reef

Thousand lakes sounded like the place to be in Torrey. Highly rated in rvparkreviews.com. Are there 2 days of things to do in Torrey?

Capitol Reef

Heading out in the latter part of April for our annual trip to Moab. We have a few extra days to get there, so were thinking of spending the time at Capitol Reef. Not sure if we should stay in Richfield and drive the hour to the park entrance or stay in Torrey. We aren't big hikers, but we do like to go on short walks inside the Parks we visit. Would there be two full days of things to see and do at Cap Reef this time of the year? This whole area is pretty high in elevation, is it too early to visit? We are looking at the KOA in Richfield and Thousand Lakes in Torrey. We prefer FHU.

sharbra, I agree. I assume Ron Lee also bought the WFM quote when he bought back CC. It's a long shot, but maybe we'll see it again.

We plan to, but haven't come up with anything yet. Our best one is the GPS - its name is Amelia, after Amelia Earhart :-)

RE: Bryce, Zion campgrounds

OK, thanks guys.
Have half-way settled on Zion River Park at Zion and the KOA at Bryce.
Thanks again for all the recommendations.
Those are the parks we used a couple years ago. Zion River is a nice park, but is several miles from the main gate to Zion. There is a FHU park in Springdale, can't remember the name, that looked OK. We liked the KOA in Cannonville. The owners were very helpful in planning day trips to Kodachrome, Bryce and other things to see in the area. If, no when, we go back we will probably stay at the same RV parks.

RE: Registering RV in Montana as LLC

mowermech, the Bennett law firm can advise you on MONTANA laws, and ADMIT they have no clue as to other states laws about the LLC. Not only that, they ADMIT that if you have problems, don't call them.
They IMO, are honest people using the Montana laws to THEIR monetary advantage, not ours. In addition be sure and find out what they will charge you for filings each year. And what records YOU must keep.
Whether you do or dont , is no skin off my nose, but know the facts FIRST.
Contact John Bennett at 1-866-543-5803 or www.bennettlawoffice.com
In my experience they will investigate the laws in the State you reside, send you a copy
of the laws and provide their opinion of any problems, which contradicts the quote above.
A friend I travel with has used the Bennett law Firm for 6 or 7 years and they do know the laws of other states. They cannot represent you in your home state, but if you have a problem, they will advise you.
