RE: sewer pipe extension with gate valve

What John and Barney said. Plus get some good silicone gloves from Harbor freight. At least all you have to do is remove the gloves and all the stuff that's on them.

RE: Anyone have thermal pane windows here..worth it?

It will help a lot with the temp transfer, it will also help a lot on reducing the noise from outside. When camping in the winter we are very comfortable sitting on the sofa, when we open the front curtain we can feel the cold coming through the front window that is single pane. Big difference.

RE: Blowing out lines and hot water heater

The size of the compressor in gallons doesn't mean anything. You can use a compressor without a tank if you want, but it must be able to compress about 8 CFM at 90psi to blow out the lines with enough flow to eliminate the water.

RE: Another satisified Red Max Pro 3 customer

I used it on my MH and did the rubber around the windows bewfore I did the body of the MH. That kept the black rubber from getting all over the front cap. I used it on the rubber about 7 months ago and there3 has been no problem yet. I also used RMP3 on the sidewalls of my tires on the Tracker, It's been on the Tracker for at least 3 months. The Tracker tires shine always and are extremely easy to clean.

RE: Blowing out li es and hot water heater

No. Do not bypass the water heater. As long as you get all th water out of the system you don't have to bypass.

RE: How much wind is too much???????????

It's too windy when you are uncomfortable driving. I've been in some real bad gusting winds ( 50mph or higher) driving through Phoenix. I had no place to pull over so I kept driving at 25mph on a 75mph freeway until I got to a rest stop. Needless to say I pulled over for the night.

RE: How do you describe roughing it

From the posts I have now finally figured out that "Roughing It" is just a state of mind. Possibly coupled with our age. No matter how we define "Roughing It" as long as we are enjoying ourselves, it's worth it.
Some great posts, thanks.

RE: Would you Buy

The problem with water damage is if it is in the floor. A soft floor can get into a lot of time and labor also you might have to worry about black mold, especially if you have to remove the cabinets and other things. I would be leary about water damage. It would be a deal breaker for me if I were to buy a RV and not be able to use it until I repaired it.

How do you describe roughing it

Many of us have various ideas of what roughing it is. What is your interpertation of "Roughing It"?
My idea of roughing it is pushing the button to start the generator or not being able to put the slide out out.

RE: Basement Doors

The tan basement doors on my Bounder had faded and discolored real bad. I used Bar Keepers Friend with the green Scotch pads and scrubbed them, then I used RMP3 on the metal doors. The doors came out great. All the same color and no faded spots. My whole RV has been done and looks new. The RMP3 has been on it for at least 6 months now and still shines. We recently had some heavy rain here and I didn't have to re-wash the RV, it came out clean looking like I did wash and dry it. At least try the RMP3 deal. If you still want to have it painted you can buy the stripper they sell for the RMP3 and take the unit in for paint. This will only cost you about $20.00. JMHO

RE: Overnighting at rest stops?

I spent 33 years on CHP and would ABSOLUTELY not stay in a rest area. We had all kinds of crimes in them on a regular basis. Drive thru one slowly after dark and look at the clientele. The really "special" ones only crawl out from under their rocks after dark. For a real treat, hit one on a full moon!
There is 33 years knowledge for you and if you can't afford a CG you probably shouldn't be RV'ing IMO.
In the last 37 years since I've been RV'ing I have yet to stay at anything other than a CG or on our friends property and have never had a problem or issue. I also have never had the NO CG close syndrome where a WM is the alternative.
Larry
I have more than 40 years stoping in rest stops and boondocking. I haven't had any problems. So now you also have over 40 years of knowledge on this side of the coin. Some people get parinoid about rest stops. If they were all that bad the state would close them down for safety reasons.
Then you need to head to the casinos since your luck is just opposite of what A PROFESSIONAL LEO posted with 33 years experience. You have obviously missed or ignored all the posts of the issues with rest areas that have been mentioned so far.
Larry
Larry, with your statements I don't care if you were a Professional LEO. You want to push your agenda. I have my own. I feel safe in rest stops. I have had more problems in campgrounds than in rest stops. LEO doesn't mean anything. Just means your limited experience the same as ours.

RE: Overnighting at rest stops?

For those of you who want to stay in Campgrounds only. You can sell your self contained RV's and get sone without all the facilities and save some money from not having to carry around all that fresh water and the tanks. If your staying in Campgrounds only you can use their facilities. Those of us who like rest stops and boondocking can enjoy our stops with fewer people using our spots. We will keep our tanks and enjoy them. Besides that will allow you many more spots at the campgrounds when you want them. Happy, Happy, Happy.

RE: Fresh water dump - observation at truck stop

You know the WORST thing that can happen, is for it to rain. You know all that WATER gets on the road, and grass and runs into the drains, or soaks into the ground. It's really a horrible thing.
Of course the worst thing about it. It carries all that stuff to the East Coast from the West, and kills our trees, and ruins the paint on our cars.
Did y'all know that. When used in a sentence. Is automatically censored on this forum? I didn't. Of all the words to censor. It seems like such a tame one
From your post a person would think that NC is the only place in the United States that the water drains into. We have the Rockies in the center of the US that precludes the water dumped here in California from migrating over to the East Coast. So the Water dumped on the west, as you say, does not wind up in NC. Also I have no problem dumping my water from my freshwater tank on the road or my grass. The grass is still green, even when I sanitize.

RE: Cash vs. Credit

When I bought my last one I told them up front that I was paying cash. They had a hard sell because I named my price and gave myself a 40% discount. They had two salesmen and the manager out there trying to get my price up. I stood my ground and walked away almost 25 feet before they called me back and sold at the price I wanted. Paying cash they don't have to do a lot of extra paperwork and they don't have to worry about you not qualifing. You already qualify with cash. It's a sure sale

RE: First wash job after using RMP3

As far as using RMP3on the tires I don't see anyway that it could hurt the rubber. If I do get any cracking of the wax I can always re-apply another coat or strip the wax off and start over. I have had RMP3 on the tires for over one month now and haven't had any cracks show up in the wax. I also used RMP3 on the rubber roof of the MH. We just recently had some heavy rain (finally) and the MH looks as good as it could. I don't have any white streaks on the windows and no dirt on it anywhere.

RE: First wash job after using RMP3

Clean your tires real good and apply RMP3 to the sidewalls. They will shine for months with 2 coats of RMP3 and when you do have to wash your RV the tires will keep on shining up real easy. I used RMP3 on the tires of my 4X4 and the dirt and mud just melts off. Most of the stuff they sell for the tires will sling off and get all over the paint. RMP stays put.
