RE: Any Winegard Carry out Owners out there?

I did not opt for any of the accessories like the ladder mount or the tripod. I went with the standard throw it out on the ground or table method. I put on top of my toad and on top of the MH.
I use a DC receptacle that I installed under the hood. unit comes with fifty feet of cable that allows for great movement for optimum positioning.
You could put a 12 DC receptacle in different locations but the input coaxial cable could be a problem unlesss your rig is equiped with a satellight coaxial cable installed at the factory. I ran a new one to a location adjacent to the DC receptacle.

RE: Winne-will not start

I am not sure that we know the fuel pump is working through the factory wiring. OP applied power to the pump directly.
The fuel pump fuse supplying power trhough the oil pressure sensor is the one I would look at. The ornage wire to the oil pressure sensor should have continuous 12 volts from the fuel pump fuse. Then by my wiring diagram it leaves the oil pressure sensor via a gray wire to go to pump.
OP: did you open both lines at the TBI? one should not have fuel under pressure. The other should. The side with the linkage should have fuel under pressure.

RE: Winne-will not start

Fuel pump relay on mine is hanging above the fuse panel under the dash.
Another fuse is the ECM?BAT, it should be hot all the time. feeds through the oil pressure switch and feeds contacts on the fuel pump relay .
There is or should be another fuse marked "Fuel Pump" that also powers the fuel pump.
I still beleive it is an electrical issue that is causing loss of fuel to engine.

RE: Winne-will not start

I was under my rig yesterday. Mine has a device in the vent line that goes to the filler area. Looks like it maybe some type of back flow preventer to stop liquid from coming out the vent.
You may want to look at yours for the same device. There is a hose between it and the tank.

RE: Winne-will not start

Did you check the "power" fuse location for 12 volts?
Did you check the ECM fuses for power or just check the fuses?
Can you check the ignition switch power output when in start and run postion? I know you get start power but is there ignition power?

I like using mapping software. I use Microsoft Streets and Trips utilizing the GPS provided by Microsoft in the package.

RE: Hot water heater

Make and model of water heater?
Tripped breaker? Turn water heater breaker to off position applying pressure toward off, turn breaker back on.
50 ampere rig? Does all other 120 volt items work? Both AC units? Could have lost power to second phase of shore power.

RE: Winne-will not start

ECM-1 fuse in the fuse block under the left side of dash powers the fuel injectors trhough the Powertrain Control module. It is a 10 amp fuse.
Look under air clean to insure the wires going to the injectors is not pinched.
Check the ECM/Crank fuse. It is also a 10 amp fuse. It is more for emissions then runing.
Does the dash indicators light up when igntion is in run position?

RE: House Battery

I would suggest that you verify that the alternator is charging or at least getting powwer to the house batteries. A TV and vcr should not run down the batteries while driving. The alternator should keep up with them.
It is possible that the charge relay or diode based isolator is not working properly.
Easy test is to put voltmeter on house batteries. Take reading, thenstart vehicle, voltage should increase to a little over 13 volts.

RE: Furnace starts by itself

Are there any flourecents lights on or being turned on at the time furnace starts?
What make and model of heating/ac control is it?
I am guessing bad ballast in flourecent light interferring with signal from control unit or sending a signal that the rear furnace reciever is picking up.

RE: Tandem Tow Dolly

What is the front end weight of the vehicle that you plan on putting on the dollY?
What is the weight of the two bikes loaded for the road?
What is the total length of the MH, dolly and vehicle?
Tongue weight on your Seneca could be close depending on previous questions. Towing weight could be close. I would say your hitch on the Seneca would need to be rated for around 1000 tongue weight and 10,000 trailer weight. Just a guess!

RE: House Battery

I would have the genset tied to the house batteries. The house batteries are tied in parallel maintaining 12 volt output.
The genset in many rigs does not charge the chassis battery.
Depending on how you camp, you could be better served with two 6 volt golf cart batteries wired in series to produce the 12 volt output. If you use hook ups the majority of the time you could get by with one 12 volt RV battery maybe a larger group 27 as many RV batteries are group 24. Personnally I would go with two 6 volters available at Costco for around $80 each.

RE: Water Heater T-stat failure(s)

I was thinking about your issue. I wonder if the small bi-metal thermostat just gets tired fast. Maybe one of these larger bodied adjustable thermostat would last longer.
12 volts going through the thermostat just to operate the electronics should not have much electrical load. It must be just the heat onto the bi-metal contatcs.
Atwood adjustable thermostat.

RE: Running Cable

I took the trim off the passengers side of the windshield. Routed a RG-6 down the track that already included other wiring. Once there went through the fire wall into the front area. Pretty easy to do.
I would suggest looking into adding a 12 volt DC positve and negative at the same time as we decided ona Winegard Carry out automatic dish.

RE: Batwing rotating adjustment fell apart

You should have and use an "Antenna UP" sign. Attach to the driver's control some where.
I would not carry any spare parts as most RV parts store carry the parts for Winegards.

RE: Batwing rotating adjustment fell apart

The rotation is held in place by a nylon nut. Raising and lowering is the allen connection on the small handle.
To re-install the nylon nut you need to inspect it to make sure the threads are still intact. It takes a long "special" wrench to thread the nut on over the elevator shaft.

RE: Tail Lights/Fresh Water Inlet

What I did on the water inlet is added a brass quick disconnect. I tightened it onto the rig, use a cane or crutch cap to keep critters from entering it.
Another thing is to try a brass hose adpater that is available at most hardware stores. It is thicker and provides more surface for the hose connections to go on.

RE: Refrigerators

I would not go with the 12 volt heater element option. The 12 volt can draw down batteries which you may need for other functions like the furnace.

RE: Electric water heater causing various breakers to trip

Problem in most electrical panels is the neutral buss is aluminum. Copper wire to aluminum buss come loose very easily and that creates resistance and heat build up. Yes, some will say that the buss is AL-CU but that still creates problems.
Braker attachments to the buss work also creates the same type of problem.
This is why the conductors and attachments need to be cleaned and some electrical de-oxidation grease be applied to these areas.
