RE: Changing oil on generators...

I change oil per the manuals in all my engines, however have you noticed that the recommended oil chances have gone from 2000 to 3000 miles and now to 5000 to 7000 miles. In my opinion that is mostly because the oil companies no longer have so much influence over the engine manufacturers. The manufacturers are beginning to find that it is better for them to convince the buying public that their engines are better today. I know one thing, as long as the vehicle that holds the engine is clean and not beat up, and the engine sounds good, having all the records of 3000 mile oil changes won't get you one nickle more when you trade it in! JMHO!!

RE: Detergent for Splendide?

I sold European front loading washers for years before the others came on the market and before the soap makers thought up the high profit of special types of detergents. The only thing you need to do is to use any regular detergent you like, just use less of it! Check your owners manual for the proper amount, usually about 1/3 the amount you would use for a top loader.

RE: Can this axle be used?

Axles aren't really very expensive. Especially if compared to the possible cost of an accident! JMHO!

RE: Quick Disconnect/Gas Heater

If you need any mating parts for the quick disconnect male or female you must get the correct brand for what you have. And please do not use air quick disconnects. Two reasons: 1)they are not tested for leakage like propane fittings are. Propane fitting do cost more becasue of the increased testing and quality control. So don't cheap out. With air fittings a little leakage doesn't mean anything. 2)they are made of material that can spark. That's the last thing you'd want in a propane connection. Quick disconnects are used all the time! What do you think this is? http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/stay-a-while-deluxe/30340

RE: Insulate propane tanks/lines/regulator for high altitude?

Lived and camped in Colorado all my life. I have spent many camping trips above 9000 foot. Never neded to make changes to get the propane system to work. X2 Have hunted deer and elk above 10k for many years. The propane griddle and range we used in our 12 man tent always worked great! We always leave the tanks outside in the snow and often -0 weather.

RE: Sanitizing Water Line Hoses

Connect your hose to the inlet of your system. Pour the recommended amount of bleach for your fresh water tank's capacity into the other end of the hose using a funnel. Connect the hose to your water faucet and add enough water to fill the rest of the hose. Let it set for a few minutes. Proceed to fill your fresh water tank and your entire system by opening each faucet and allowing the water to fill all the lines. You will be able to smell the bleach at each faucet. Let it set for 1 to 2 hours. Open all faucets and run fresh water until the bleach smell goes away. You're done! You've sanitized your hose, the tank, and all the lines. Now add a good filter and quit wasting money on bottled water. Not to mention all the plastic bottles you are putting into the landfills! Sorry, I just had to add that!

RE: Dishwasher plumbing question

It's a standard fitting available at any good Ace Hardware or Home Depot. Just explain to the plumbing department of either and they will help you. It's not such am big deal. I am a CKD "Certified Kitchen Designer" and have been doing Kitchen Remodeling for over 40 years.

RE: Dishwasher plumbing question

It's a special item that's used for almost all dishwasher hookups. Tell the plumbing dept man at Home Depot what you want and he will help you.

You might try putting them all down again and then retracting them. Sometimes "rebooting" works on things other than computers!

RE: Water Heater Problem

He says it won't light, not even when holding an open flame to it. He may need to clean out the chimney or the burner tube but, if he cannot get any flame at all he needs to find out why the gas is not coming on. I wonder if he is probably right about the control thermocuple being bad.
