RE: Why did tire blow

I think it could be overload. In the past I have seen some fulltimers that have the coach really piled as full as they can get them.

RE: Beware in keys

I think maybe the Park could have sold the coach to the highest bidder, then you would have lost more then a few hundred dollars.

RE: Another way to carry a unmounted spare tire

I think I could mount one between the frame in the rear of the coach. But unless it was mounted it would have to be wrapped darn good to keep the sand and gravel out. Other wise it would sure play heck with that inner tube.

RE: Roof versus Basement A/C Units.

I found that the basement air does not cool as good when it's over 100 outside. Plus, Had a problem with the duct work going up the back came apart twice.Had to remove the tail light to repair it.

RE: CoachNet

I have learned to ask for a wrecker right off. Because when the wrecker gets there, he will give you a jump if you ask him. At least that's the way it worked for me.

RE: loss of hearing

I lost my hearing about 30 some years ago. The Motor Home has all these bells and buzzers. I can not hear any of them. DH is so use to me driving down the road with the signal light on she now always tells me as soon as I make a turn.

RE: Propane on or off

I always turn mine off when re-fueling. As the gas inlet is almost right under the refrigerator vent. Now I just shut the refrigerator off,not the gas. Like the book says. As soon as I am on the road again DW turns it back on.

RE: oil change and Lube on gasser

Thanks a bunch for all the replys. First off I only live 22 miles from Wichita Falls, no where that I have found can handle a MH, next I am only 11 miles from a big truck stop that works on Semi's, but they do not do Motor Homes I have asked a few times. The White truck center in the Falls do not have a pit and can not put a 36' MH on the rack.
The worst part of doing it my self is disposing of the old oil. Plus I don't have very good use of my left arm any more and can not hold the grease gun in place and pump it at the same time. At 79 years old I can still do almost every thing. Maybe I can get the DH to crawl under there and help me hold the grease gun, she's only 75.ha-ha Thanks for all the suggestions.

oil change and Lube on gasser

Where do most of you get an oil change and lube on your class A gasser? some years back I did it my self. But since I am somewhat older just can't get under there as good as i use too.
The Lube place here in town was the only place that had a pit to pull over and a door high enough to get in, well it closed and to have the RV dealer do it in Wichita Falls they charge by the hour and it is $85 bucks an hour plus oil & filter it takes about 1 1/2 hours. So that is a little pricey. When lube place here in town was open they only charged $32.00 for oil change and lube.
We have a couple of Auto dealerships here but neither have pit and no door high enough to get my 12'6" high Motor Home in. It seems as no place have the pits any more. All have lifts and you just can't get a 36' MH on those lifts

RE: Good Sam Insurance Costs

I have 100% total coverage on our Motor Home thru Geico. No one can come even close to there rates. Changed over all car/MH from Allstate, who after being with them for years as just getting to expensive. Geico cout our insurance cost in half and hasn't gone up much in the 2 years with been with Geico. Allstate was going up faster then a balloon every year.
Glad you folks are Happy with GEICO I had it for almost 20 years and about 5 years ago they double the Insurance on the Motor Home, told me they had been under charging me for about 3 years. So yea, I changed insurance co.

RE: What if slide sticks OPEN while on a trip?

I had the Bedroom slide stopped working one time up in WYO. I could not find any HWH repair shop. There is no place to crank it in by hand like the 2 other slides. So I drove down town Cheyene, WY. with the BDRM slide out to the repair shop who thought he could fix it. Turns out he couldn't fix it and we tried to push it in by hand. But couldn't get it to move. So I drove half way back to Texas with it out. It's a good thing it was on the right side. We stopped for lunch and I tried it one time to bring it in and worked like a champ. Later the repair man told me to push it in while having some one push the switch on retract while some on pushes it in. It worked, cause I tried it. DH held the button while I pushed, in it went.
I have a wrench in that bag of information that comes with the coach. But it is only for the 2 large slides. So I guess they know the slides will fail some time is the reason for the wrench.

Anyone got the renewal for there Motor Home plates this year. just got mine a while back, Here in Texas my plates went up $61.00. total renewal is now $218.00. I called about it and I guess I missed the boat they said it was in the paper back in December. Also said car and truck plates went up also and the older your vehicle is the more they went up. RE: slide creeps out in storage

My bedroom slide has been doing that for about the past 2 years, it takes it about a month to creep out about 3 inches. So as long as it does not creep out driving down the road, I just say forget it. It's on a 06 Winnebago HWH system.

RE: Best name for a dog?

About 5 years ago our kids bought the wife a Little Yorkie for her birthday. Any way she didn't know what to name her. So I notices every time the dog stopped she left a little puddle. so I starting calling her "Puddles" It has stayed with her. Wife even likes it. Get a lot of people ask where did we come up with the name.
