RE: Where do full-timers spend the summer?

I spent my winters in central Alabama - home base and for the past two years summers on the Florida Gulf Coast. I guess I'm a reverse snowbird. But it works for me.

RE: auxiliary tank

I have the 52 gallon Titan replacement tank in my truck. It replaces the OEM tank and doesn't fill up part of my truck bed.

RE: Limp Mode Problem on Duramax LMM

As has been said previous, these engines produce so much power and are relatively efficient, why would you want to start being a test department for a modest if any improvement? I wouldn't risk my engine/transmission for this ever.

RE: Transfer switch

I agree with Jim@HiTek . Never allow the transfer switch to switch under a load especially a big load. Yes, it will do it, but why run the risk of damaging the switch?

RE: Air Card for Internet Service

I have a Sprint card that I have had for 22 months. It originally was an unlimited card until Sprint changed the rules (no grandfather deal here). I am currently in an area that Sprint serves well and the air card is my only internet access and I quickly used up the 5gb limit. I refused to change the plan to more because I don't want a new 2 year contract. So.....
I signed up with millenicom as stated above. They have an "unlimited" plan and it comes with a Sprint 250U card just like I had for my existing Spring service. The speed of either one is virtually identical.
The unlimited plan with millenicom is actually a 50gb plan. The state on the site that if you go over 50gb they will be looking at your and potentially terminate your service.
But it is working as well as Sprint in the same area. You do have to buy the card however. They have a plan where you can use an existing card as long as it is compatible with their system and it is currently inactive. I couldn't use that plan since my current Sprint card is still alive, at least until the middle of July when I will cancel it.

RE: New Mattress

I full time and I replaced my original mattress with a Sleep Number Radius King. It is absolutely great. They do make a short queen as well.
I couldn't give my old mattress to anyone. No one even wanted it for a dog bed, so I burned it. It burned very nice.

RE: Surge protector question

I have the Progressive Industries EMS-PT50C. It shut off the power to my 5'er two nights ago due to a lost ground. This happened in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. It did reset after the condition went away. Mine was $307.00 including prepaid freight. Cheap as far as I am concerned.

RE: Water Filter & Surge Protector Needed at Topsail RV Park??

I am at St. Andrews State Park which is obviously on a different water system than Top Sail, but.....The water here is from the county water system and it tastes fine, but it is full of particulate matter. I have an inline two stage filter and the first filter is a 1 micron particulate filter and the second one is a charcoal filter. The first stage filter at my home base doesn't need replacing after 6-8 months. At St. Andrews is is "bad" after 2 weeks and I camp alone. Again, the water tastes fine, it is just full of particulate matter that I don't want in my fresh water tank/system.
My problem with electrical at a lot of parks is that the people doing the wiring don't always look like they should be doing wiring. You add to that the fact a lot of the park power systems are old. All you need is one problem to fry your RV. I have a good energy management system/surge protector that will shut off the power to my RV if there is a problem. Is it worth it? It is to me.

RE: Spare Fuel Tank

This was the best mod I have ever done to my truck. The old tank, the installer put it in his dumpster. As was stated above, there is market for the old ones.

RE: to chip or not to chip DURAMAX engine?

I have a 2006 LBZ and I tow heavier than you and consistently get 12 mpg plus/minus a half or so. I never tow over 60 mph. I wouldn't touch it with any programmer.

RE: A Thanks to Marcus

I could not agree more. His attitude is definitely filtering down to his people. My last two purchases from CW worked absolutely superb. One was a special order and I picked it up at a CW store and the other was shipped. The last one was quoted 2-3 week shipping. It arrived on the 3rd working day after order. Amazing service.

RE: Splendide W/D

I use the Low Spin option on all loads. It doesn't vibrate as much, although that is not the main reason I do it. It seems to wrinkle less with less spin rpm. It may be just me, but I think it helps.

RE: Sun covers for tires

I don't use them since all 4 of my 5'er tires are protected from the sun when I have my slides out since they are under the slides. I full time so the slides are out all the time unless I'm moving.
