RE: yellowstone camping

There is a Great Campground outside the park, right at the West entrance, in West Yellowstone.
I concur. West Yellowstone, MT was very nice. The park is crazy busy and the RV park outside was nice, quiet and within walking distance to the little town.

RE: Caption this photo...

My guess is that you guys still wouldn't let him exceed his door sticker GVWR... :)
That's a classic......"I don't care how many tires you have, you can't exceed what the door sticker says!" response!
I wonder if he has airbags?

RE: 2011 Dodge Exhaust

I would be worried about the warranty implications. And, just to make it louder? Makes no sense to me.
I don't think that was the original post, he doesn't care what we think about extra noise. I know for a fact the muffler is after the DPF and therefore it is not an issue. You CAN remove the DPF as long as it goes back on and is "Stock" when Dodge sees it for maint. Also for emissions testing, but it is illegal to have it on for a test then take it off. If you burn an injector, Dodge will send it to their lab in Michigan to determine if the tuner was the reason for the failure. All in all, Dodge will work with you on your "mods" to a certain degree. You need to establish a rapport with your garage to know what they are thinking as well. I did this at the last two service centers I went to and they both were consistent.

RE: Montanna LLC

"In December we traded out FW for a new one. I asked the finance guy if I could use my mom's address in NM since I joined the AF living in NM and it was my state of record for my military life. I kept NM becasue the taxes and reg fees are so cheap, you just had to put up with the ugly plate. "
Are you still in the military? It used to be you could keep your registration in the state which was your domicile when you enlisted. I kept my vehicles registered in Michigan no matter where I was stationed for 25 years, 3 of those in California and I purchased vehicles in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Maryland and South Carolina. I retired from the military in 1983 so things may have changed. I'd check and see if the Soldiers and Sailors relief act applies.
I retired and now reap the benefits of paying registration fees for the state I live in! Thanks for the info, though. I asked the question because back in the day you could register with only an address, but that was years ago. Now I know, it is no big deal. I have to pay and that is that. If I can't afford to register what I drive/tow, I can't afford to buy it in the first place. I miss the military!

RE: Montanna LLC

It's fraud, which is why it seems too good to be true!
Colorado recovered several million dollars on that sting. Colorado has a Department of Revenue hotline to call in suspected violators, and they DO follow up.
Channel 9
The pathetic truth is people act like they did nothing wrong! Montana plates on their $350,000 MH but Colorado plates on their toad! C'mon - how about adding to it that they are being paid by Colorado State Parks to reside in the park as a campground host! They probably have never been to Montana!
It's expensive for all of us that live here, especially when many are taking a free ride.
$1350 a year (Thats over $25 a week, almost twice what our property tax on our house is)to license our signature RV when our "06" Bighorn was less than $300 a year. That unsuspected ram in the fanny is enough to make anyone fraudulent. Colorado is the crook here as far as I am concerned.
Colorado is cheaper than most in the midwest where I have lived. When I was in Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois.......it was the same only a little more, actually. Just back home now in Colorado I have to pay what I have to pay....But like I said before, I get to look at the mountains EVERY day...
If you don't like it......there is always Texas. They are nice and cheap and there are plenty of jobs!

RE: Ford on top again.

RAM is coming on strong because anybody with half a brain isn't going to buy a Ford PowerJoke after the way Ford has treated loyal Ford customers whose fuel system got destroyed by blown high pressure fuel pumps.
Cummins and Duramaxes are not having those kinds of issues with their new diesels, and Ford is not honoring warranty claims to the tune of $12,000 clams.
More and more of these stories are appearing on the internet on various forums, even on Ford truck forums.
Cross 35k miles and you're living on borrowed time with Ford's new 6.7 liter, whereas you have Duramaxes and Cummins powered RAMS going on 500k miles or more.
Please feel free to name those customers. I will start...Ricatic and, um, another guy. You finish the list.
I Googled it. The 6.7 Scorpion is having issues and Ford is trying to deflect. It is WAY to early to know if it is another 6.ohno or not, but none the less, there are more than average issues out there. Ricatic is just the most well known on this forum!

RE: Motion Induced Blindness

yes there are some idiot's on motorcycles
but as a RIDER and a driver I do believe there are more inattentive drivers than idiot show off cyclists
I couldn't agree more! I have ridden since I was very young and the attention paid to the two wheel variety is slim to none. The condition the OP speaks of is yet another excuse to justify a lack in someone's situational awareness. If you are on the road.....pay attention to the road! I beg of everyone that reads this; please, please look out for us. A fender bender in a car is deadly for a motorcycle.

RE: Yet ANOTHER rookie question

Thanks for being on the level with me, guys! :)
I think I have both feet on the ground now. :C
Ya, sometimes it just takes somebody putting one foot down and then the other! :)Yes, and thanks again for helping me keep an even keel!:C
LOL!
No one has said anything about the FW being level first. You need to block the wheels to level the FW before putting the landing gear down. Then it doesn't matter, the two legs will be different length holding the nose up, but the coach will be level. Block or no blocks, the landing gear does NOT level the FW, the wheels do OR if you have a leveling system, it will.

RE: Montanna LLC

I was wondering the same thing. So I did a quick google search and this is one of the results:
"BREAKING NEWS
Colorado Convicts RV Owners for Tax Evasion
RV Business
Wednesday, May 21, 2008
State authorities brought civil and criminal charges against Colorado residents who registered recreational vehicles worth up to $400,000 in Montana to avoid local taxes and registration fees.
The Denver Post reported that the offenders registered recreational vehicles only in Montana, which does not charge sales taxes on motor vehicles and has low registration fees. But Colorado residents must pay sales taxes and registration fees in Colorado, said Mark Couch, spokesman for the Colorado Department of Revenue.
The Colorado Attorney General's Office and the revenue department working together obtained misdemeanor tax evasion convictions against 12 people living in Jefferson, Boulder, Arapahoe and Weld counties, Couch said.
They each received deferred sentences, and were also ordered to pay restitution to the state, register their recreational vehicles in Colorado and perform community service, Couch said.
The Revenue Department also took civil action against other Colorado residents who owned recreational vehicles registered in Montana. The state billed 122 recreational vehicle owners $2.7 million in unpaid sales taxes, penalties and interest."
I will even take this a bit further......
In December we traded out FW for a new one. I asked the finance guy if I could use my mom's address in NM since I joined the AF living in NM and it was my state of record for my military life. I kept NM becasue the taxes and reg fees are so cheap, you just had to put up with the ugly plate. The finance guy said.......any state that border's Colorado is on board with NOT allowing a CO address to register unless the loan paperwork originates with the NM address (or other state). Also, NM (and the other states) require proof of residency, so if you have a CO drivers license and/or don't have an active address in NM (or whatever state) to show a utility bill for, you will not be able to register the vehicle in that state but MUST pay in the state you live in. He went on to say that since CO is so expensive, they actively prosecute out of state registrations that are done purely to evade paying CO fees and taxes. It is 7.4% and the ownership tax is awful, but I do get to see Pikes Peak everyday.....so I didn't even attempt it. I also know that the LLC thing is looked at in Nebraska and other states that border low tax states like SD. Bottom line, if we buy it, we have to pay the taxes.

RE: Move hitch up or king pin down?

In my setup I had to move both and found the hitch has a different effect than the pin box. One is more dramatic, I just can't remember which. If I remember right, the hitch moves it less than the pin box, so I had to move both to get where I wanted to be.

RE: Ford on top again.

I have driven a couple of Ecoboost F-150s and they are truly the best on the market. If I didn't need a 2500, that is the truck I would buy! But for my money, I would LOVE to have a minivan based truck like a Ridgeline! Because they're built.."Minivan Tough". You just can't go wrong with 3500 lbs of towing capacity! 3500 lbs people! That's a large pop-up, you know.....it is the toughest truck.

2012 Keystone Montana 333DB at 11,500lbs.

RE: Montana Remote Control

I have one and was having the same problem; thought it was the remote battery. I noticed the last option was contrast, and I darkened it up and could see it just fine. Self explanatory once you can read the words! Turn it on, push select/up arrow at the same time and cycle through the options. I think the contrast is down arrow 7 or 8 times, depending on the # of slides you have. It is a Lippert product.

RE: Looking for quad BH with private bath floor plans - used

Why no bathroom in the master bedroom? Most FW master suites have a bathroom in them.
1. Keeps you out of the bedroom if someone is taking a shower - we do a lot of group camping as well as have growing boys.
2. Many have the sink right next to the bed - I simply do not like this - even hate it.
3. Would like to keep the bed time bathroom activities separate from bedroom - bushing teeth or washing hands after using bathroom - so as to lessen any possible disturbances (already sleeping, maybe in bed but not sleeping yet).
The newer models are going back to the private bath plan so i think it was a trend that has ran its course. Of course some people like it I guess.
Ours has a second bathroom for the kids (no shower, though). As far as watching my wife brush her teeth; it has never bothered me too much.

RE: Toughest trucks

I am trading my 2500 tomorrow on a Rigdeline! Why have I been putting up with the harsh ride of stiff springs, shocks and tires on a body on frame design and a noisy Cummins diesel when the Honda is tougher with a unibody, coil springs and soft tires and a quiet little V-6? I am such an idoit........My next topic that will be posted.......Do I need a slider with a 3' bed?
(Ridgeline is a mini-van, in case you all didn't know!)
