RE: STREET VIEW ON GOOGLE MAPS

You can get Street View from Google Maps. I haven't been able to get it on Google Earth. On GM, select satellite layer, hold your finger on the street area that you want to view and an address box will pop up. Then click on the box. A street view will show.

RE: New tires? Help me decide?

We just made arrangements to have 6 Firestone Transforce load range "E" tires put on our 2008 Freelander 3150SS. $1483 installed with new steel valves and extensions in order to use a Pressure Pro TPMS. We were quoted $1773 for Goodyear and $2083 for Michelin comparables. We decided on the Firestone because of the good reviews on this forum and, of course, the good price.

RE: RVing in the Black Hills

We stayed at the Mt.Rushmore KOA for a couple of days and would definitely stay there again. They have on site stables and horseback riding available. We had a great ride through the area.

RE: Can you leave a solenoid on?

I also put a disconnect switch on my battery. When it is going to be in storage for a while I disconnect the battery and connect a Battery Tender. I also have another Battery Tender that I keep the chassis battery charged through the cigarette lighter plug. The lighter plug is always hot even with the ignition off. At least it is in my Ford E450.

RE: Pennsylvania

If you want to stay in the Intercourse area I highly recommend the Beacon Hill Campground. It's a small, quiet family owned campground about 3/4 mile from the center of Intercourse. Close to great Amish food and shopping. The last time we were there we took a hot air balloon ride which was an unforgetable experience. Also, if you go there, don't forget to stock up on whoopie pies.

RE: Bristol!!

Where do you park your RV at Bristol? We went the "cow pasture" route for the first couple of times and decided that the all night partying and music was not what we were wanting. It's OK for the younger set and cheap enough but not for us. We found a small, quiet full hookup site not too far from the track that provides bus transportation to and from the track for an additional $10.00. We stay there for the night race in August. For the spring race we get a couple of hotel rooms in Pigeon Forge and commute from there.

RE: Netbook Laptops

We also use DeLorme Street Atlas with their Earthmate GPS receiver on our HP netbook. Works great. We have been using DeLorme for several years and have never had a problem.

RE: First timers from Portsmouth,NH to Northport, Florida

Another vote for I-81. Made the trip between Maine and Florida many times on I-95 and after going via I-81 once, I never went I-95 again.

RE: Do you stay plugged in all winter?

I keep it plugged in with the house battery disconnected and a Battery Tender connected to it. I have another battery tender for the chassis battery that I connect to the battery through the cigarette lighter socket. The two sockets in the dash of my 2007 E-450 are not switched.

RE: Best satellite finder

I use it every time I set up. Wouldn't be without it. The Align-A-Site gets me on the satellite as soon as I get it set up. I use a cheap Radio Shack satellite finder to peak the signal but usually it is not necessary. Once you zero the levels you are usually right on. And you don't have to insure that the mast is perfectly vertical.

RE: What does "demo" mean?

Check to see if the holding tanks have been used. Especially the black.

RE: Putting up a satellite dish

Don't forget to do a "Check Switch" when checking which satellites you are receiving. Also, an "Align-a-Sight" will make the aiming a lot easier.

RE: Shower in the bedroom?

We have a Freelander 3150SS which has a kind of similar layout for the BR and it has never been a problem. In the MH we don't take long, steamy showers like at home. And you can always open the bathroom door and use the power vent located there. But it really has not been a problem at all. There has never been an occasion where one of us has been in the shower and someone wanted to use the bathroom. But we are only two adults and no children (except for our four cats, and they don't like to shower).

RE: Satellite Meters

Radio Shack meter and an Align-a-Sight. And most of the time you can do without the meter.

RE: House/Pet sitting costs

We used to pay $16.00 a day for someone to come in and feed the cats and check the house for any problems. Now that we have a MH we take the cats with us.

RE: Newbie question re full hookups

If we'll be in a place for a couple or more days we leave the gray valve open. We like to take long showers and don't want to worry about filling the tank. The valve gets closed the day before we are leaving so there is enough to flush after we drain the black tank.

RE: Keeping RV cool in Vegas heat

That's it. Reflectix. I couldn't remember the name. It is like foil bubble wrap. It might have different name from other manufacturers.

RE: Keeping RV cool in Vegas heat

We do what Barbandwayne do with the Reflex foil. It's cheaper if you buy it at Home Depot or Lowes. It stops a lot of heat from getting into your RV. Only downside is it gets a lot darker inside.
