RE: FF 12.0 no delete cookies on exit

Which cookies are not being deleted? If you have Firefox set to open a homepage website, and have accept cookies from sites checkmarked, then Firefox will load those cookies on startup. They will be erased upon shutdown. You can find out by running a separate program such as CCleaner after you shutdown Firefox to see if any cookies actually remain in the cache. Any and all cookies in cache are not being deleted. No set homepage. No cookies set to auto load on start. You can see active cookies from within FF Options>Privacy. There are no cookies loaded at start up. I have checked. As websites are accessed cookies are accepted. I want all these deleted at exit. I have accomplished this with previous versions of FF.

RE: FF 12.0 no delete cookies on exit

Tools Options Privacy Tab check "clear History when FireFox Closes" Settings...select what you want cleared.... OK OK See OP. Tried that, doesn't work. May go back to FF 11.0

FF 12.0 no delete cookies on exit

Using FF 12.0. In the tools>options>privacy I've tried every setting to get cookies removed on exiting FF. If I set the "FF will" setting to Never Remember History, then close FF, when I reopen the program the setting reverts to Use Custom Settings. I've tried everything in Use Custom Settings but I still have the cookies when FF is reopened. I never had this problem in previous versions and I know it's just something small I am missing. Please tell me how to erase history/cookies on exit.

RE: Inexpensive bed saver

if you ever actually "use" your real Bedsaver, you get to replace it. Read the fine print. Please explain what you mean by this? Thanks

converting video file format

My Sony camera stores video files in .MTS format. I can convert them to .WMV files in Windows 7 Movie Maker. I'm trying to ultimately convert and save them in .AVI, MPEG, or MP4. I can't find a way to do this with Windows Movie Maker and would appreciate any suggestions on programs to accomplish this. Preferably shareware as I don't really do much video editing. thanks,

RE: LED or LCD

Dryfly, Why did you return your Vizio? After a month the TV appeared to really have poor viewing angle. Also the priced dropped $75. Walmart refunded the original price, I couldn't find anything I liked better, so took a chance on another Vizio. I have been pleased with the second one. It's a 26" and only used in the 5th wheel.

RE: LED or LCD

Yes, I'm very familiar with the difference between the two types. Again, my question is in regards to any discernible difference in picture quality between the two. I'm not really sure looking at flat panels on the store's shelf really tells me the end results. A lot depends on how they are feeding the video signal to the monitor, and how the monitor is adjusted. Also, it seems every box can be a different quality even among the same product. Just depends if you are lucky enough to get a good one. Guess I've gone about it all wrong. We have always bought the brand/model that has the best picture at the store to us, no matter how the store is feeding the picture. We have always been very pleased with our choices. We own everything from a Sony to a couple a Vizios with a few others in between. I have looked at the new LED's and can't see much difference or I would own one of those too. We also normally buy at Costco, no questions asked 90 day return. If you don't like the TV that came in your box, take it back for another one. Plus a free 2 year warranty. No, I think you are on the right track, and what you do is about the only way we can start in making a decision. Guess I'm saying that I'm not too sure that what is in the store is going to look the same when I get it home. I went to Sam's Club today and they ALL looked good! Maybe I'm too easy to please. My eyes are getting too old to criticize picture quality anyway. That's why I like Costco, 90 days no questions asked if the one you get does not have a sharp picture, or you just don't like it. Sam's Club, 14 days on electronics with only the manufactures warranty, 2 years free at Costco. Also Costco is usually a couple of dollars cheaper for the same models. Have fun, I love to buy new TV's. Wish we had a Costco. I was in one a couple of weeks ago and they seemed to have a better selection. Just checked on the Sam's Club website and they have 90 days money back. Walmart is the same as I returned a Vizio last year that I had bought for the trailer. I can sure get some great buys online but shipping back gets to be a real issue if there are problems. Just not worth the savings.

LED or LCD

I've got an Toshiba LCD flat screen that I've had for about 3 years and the picture quality has been outstanding. Now I need another TV for an upstairs room and I'm debating on whether or not to go with an LED. I've been looking at the Vizio and reviews show quite a few more problems with their LED's than with their LCD's. The LED model is about $200 less for a 42". I know LED is state of the art but is there really that much difference in PQ? Particularly for those of us who are not pixel peepers?

RE: Wipe Hard Drive

No one has mentioned using Diskpart. This is included with Win 7. From Microsoft's website: Using the *clean all* command: Specifies that each and every sector on the disk is zeroed, which completely deletes all data contained on the disk. HD's are expensive right now. It's a shame to destroy them unless they are of too small capacity to be useful.

RE: Copy a CD with Win 7

imgburn works with win 7, its free, and will make a copy of anything that is not protected 2 step process, create an iso image file of the disc burn image to new disc Downloaded and used imgburn. Looks as thought this does a lot more than I would ever need, but was very simple to create an iso image and then burn back to CD. thanks for the suggestion. I'm sure I'll find more uses for it as time goes on. By the way, why wouldn't this work as well as Acronis True Image? I'm guessing TI compresses the image file considerably and offers imaging for only the "used" part of the disk as opposed to the whole drive/partition. Obviously wouldn't do incrementals either.

RE: Copy a CD with Win 7

thanks for the suggestions. I'll look at both of them. One question: is an "iso image" basically a snapshot of the disk, much in the same way a backup file is created from Acronis true Image or other image backup programs? How does an iso file differ from a diskcopy made with Nero?

Copy a CD with Win 7

As a new user of Win 7 I have enjoyed copying individual files to a CD using Window's built in CD writing capability. However I find no way to do a diskcopy for the purpose of backing up software. Also, none of my old Nero versions will work with Win 7. Any suggestions for programs, hopefully free, that can be use to copy CD's?

RE: Looking for Grease Bearing Packer

Got one sitting on a shelf in the garage you can have although Cally Fornia is quite a distance from me. I think I do a better job by hand. Wear a pair of disposable gloves and have at it. Harbor Freight if you must buy one, or really any auto parts store. I bought one at HF and never got it to work right. Grease seemed to go everywhere except where it was supposed to. Also did not like having to keep an extra lube gun loaded with wheel bearing grease. Can't beat the old hand method for dependability.

RE: Does DirecTV HD receiver work with round SD dish?

It's my understanding all of the new receivers lack the signal strength tone feature, only a video representation of signal strength. This is a bummer as it was so nice to adjust the antenna and hear when the signal strength peaked. wonder why they removed it??

RE: Frame '00 Montana 3690. 10" I beam Failure at rr sprg hgr

I have no interest in beating the poor dead horse. But, I do have a trailer with a Lippert frame and I am aware of how poorly they are constructed. I continue to wonder why all the negative comments are directed toward Lippert. As with **all** components in currently manufactured trailers, the frames are obviously less than what we as owners would like to have. We can say the same for tires, cabinetry, furniture....you name it. Lippert can build anything one is willing to pay them to build. They can use certified welders with space age equipment and then gold plate it. The anger over the frames seems like it should be directed at the trailer manufacturers. They are the ones who buy these cheap frames and then when a problem arises they tell you to work it out with the frame manufacturer. The owner is caught in between and often has little recourse. I've owned and pulled trailers for over 30 years now and because of the quality of the new ones I'm really questioning if I'm going to be willing to spend my money on any of them in the near future. I'm aware you can spend $100K and get a better built trailer, but these are all large units. I prefer smaller trailers and I'm finding it more difficult to find any of these that I'm willing to buy new and then constantly worry about their falling apart.

RE: Wheel Bearings

FYI Reply from Timken on where their bearings are manufactured: "It is hard to tell where the part is made without having a part number to look up. We have a total of 49 Bearing and Power Transmission Plants located around the world (30 in USA and 19 International (Africa, Canada, China, Europe, India & Brazil)). And, in some cases we buy the part from someone else (who may also have plants located around the world). Thanks!"

RE: Wheel Bearings

Timken bearings have always been considered of high quality. They are now made in several countries (I don't think China is one of them) Mexico, Poland, etc. Their bearings are about twice the price of generic Chinese bearings but I do believe the quality would be better. With regular care and feeding I would feel they would outlast the generics. Maybe not..............

RE: 15" wheels/tires to 16" wheels/tires

15" are okay. Save your wheels and put a set of LT tires on them, load range E and have them balanced. ST's are not built to the same standards as automobile or truck tires that carry passengers. IMHO. Tell us who manufactures a 15" LT tire?? USA made??
