RE: Bicycle Rack Issues

If you find one post the link here. We often drive down some dusty roads and/or through some rain. Frankly we've tended to leave the bikes at home when taking could be kind of nice indeed. I'd love a simple but water resistant cover that works!

RE: Class C or class A

FWIW we stay almost exclusively at SP or Provincial Parks. We've got a few we're too big for but once I did stay in a spot marked for maximum 18' long. I'm 35' :B so I will say at 35' and really up to 38 or so you should be able to find a place almost anywhere. Sure smaller is better for freedom of choice but we've never been turned away yet. Just takes bit of planning and research as to what each camp ground can or can't do. As for height? Not generally a problem. Only once did I have a power wire (at a private place) be too low and we were able to use a long deadfall stick to hold it up as I backed under it. And really any C would have had the same issue at that site. It was probably only 10' off the ground!?!?!

RE: OK so with 200k budget this is what I am thinking...

GoScuba - some questions on your walkthroughs: 1. Charleston doors on the bunk area - that looks clumsy if the kids actually sleep there, IE the doors would be open and in the way most of the time would they not? 2. Where is the bunks clothes drawers? I couldn't tell from pics online if there was any storage dedicated to the bunk area? 3. In either the 40G or 430BH is the TV viewable while driving? We're starting to think about a larger/heavier TOAD and that may mean a 10K class hitch. And yeah I really want a DP even though our current use our gas coach is just fine ;) Want vs Need in a big way here :B

RE: Travelling from Los Angeles, CA to top of Washington State

Sorry somehow I read gas chassis not dp. Still the suburban will stress your limits. And trailer plus suburban for sure will be way over 5000.

RE: Travelling from Los Angeles, CA to top of Washington State

ummm 1999 Burb is over your tow limit. Confirm whether you have a 3500 or 5000 # and I bet your Burb is closer to 6000 maybe more. 8MPG with a 1999 gas coach and that much toad is very very optimistic too. Airfare will be cheaper! and definitely doable.

RE: $$ no object RV storage

geeze I thought my warehouse was pretty nice! Mines only above ground and 40 min away. Guess I need a bigger house and the construction funds to do it :B

I didn't mind getting stuck behind her :B http://inlinethumb54.webshots.com/10741/2219098780101228571S600x600Q85.jpg That was early June and the traffic wasn't bad except around Old Faithful.

RE: I have about decided to sell my Truck and Travel trailer

beware. Once you do you can almost never go back ;) I agree we rented a Class C a couple times to see if RV'ing was our style. Decided to save a couple bucks and bought a nice TT and great truck. Oops, 3 trips in we both looked at each other and said, we shoulda bought a MH. Thank goodness I was very aggressive on the purchase so we didn't' take too bad a bath. Best move we ever did!

RE: Review - Dash Point State Park, Federal Way, WA

Nice place but can be tight driving around. We overnighted there a few years back. Pretty but tight!

RE: California/Oregon/Washington Rt. 101

I bet there are some good places stay a couple extra days and find some nice twisty roads for that dinghy :B We drove Vancouver to i5 then to the coast to Astoria and as far south as Florence with no issues at all. We're 35' + Jeep toad = 52' I second the reservatin needs in summer. We went during the peak summer season but 9 months before we had trouble getting reservations. All the SP were full! In November for a July stay! However there is a reason for that, worth the trip :D Here is a small sample of highway near the Devil's Punchbowl in OR. RE: Overhang on gas chassis vs deeper wheel cut on DP

Does not matter gas or diesel or IFS or solid axel . Its all about turn radius. That is a combination of wheel base and the degree in which the front tires can turn. right and there in lies my concern. For example, 208" wheelbase with whatever wheel cut Ford has on the 2007 chassis vs a 242?? 228" wheelbase on a 40' with a likely much higher wheel cut. I'm falling in love with the 40G from Fleetwood but 2 things are slowing me down. #1 and most important, thats a lot of coin for me to trade for ~5' (but I really want the 10K tow limit) and 2, I want to go where we go now where 35-38 is on the upper side and 40'+ is a stretch never mind the added worry of being able to bend in the right places :B

RE: towing

Welcome to the forum. 1st you'll need to use a tow dolly as the 2005 online manual I just Googled prohibits flat towing. Second, that isn't a light vehicle so I'd guess a very minimum of 5000# capable coach more like one that can handle ~6000+ What'st the GVWR door sticker say ?

RE: Space for media components on Vista 35F?

if it's the Jensen "dash like radio" it is piece of junk (Bad Winnie, Bad Winnie) but it's free and works well enough for our small TV and really I don't want the kids watching it too much anyway ;) however if I was to full time it would get pulled out and replaced with a proper AV system. Or maybe i'd just use my iPad like I do on planes ;)

RE: Overhang on gas chassis vs deeper wheel cut on DP

thank. sorta what I figured. We like to get back to nature when out and I'd hate to upgrade to a nice new coach only to not be able to camp where we wanted to! I once put my older F350 into a small car spot so I'll be fine I'm sure with a little practice ;)

Overhang on gas chassis vs deeper wheel cut on DP

I have a 35' coach with a good size rear overhang over the back axle. I often use that to back over ditches while maneuvering into tight SP or PP sites. Since I never seem to see DP where we camp I wonder if that is because these turns are simply too tight or owners prefer different places. I know a DP has a much shorter overhang and longer wheelbase as a result. But with the deeper wheel cuts how much of that longer pivot can be worked around? IE if you have a near 90 degree bend into a site and only one lane of road with ditches on either side, how do you squeeze in? Me I can hang my backside out in the air and pivot around a shorter axis.

RE: Pros and Cons of double towing

pdf cataglogue - fixed link for above note there are other brands/options for this too. *but* the biggest draw back is the hassle of taking the soft top up and down with the rack on. Still worth it if that's your need.

RE: RV Parks near Vancouver Airport

Not to be a downer but where is that Coast Hotel? The one on Marine drive (Vancouver side not Richmond) would *not* be a place I'd leave any vehicle that a thief might be interested in. I just googled it. make sure they understand travel trailer, is more than 6' tall! My guess is either really tight above ground parking or underground! google map it to double check please. street view of the parking lot
