RE: Storing Coax Cable

I have found that a 100 ft cord is way too much cord.
I use 3 lengths one the length of the fiver, one 1/2, and one 8-9 ft length. pick and choose on setup or combine all lengths together.
No one way is the best for coiling. I just coil up and use a small elastic cord to keep from unraveling.

RE: Best Route Redding to the coast - avoid 299?

We drove 299 about a month ago, Their is no easy straight line from I5 to the Redwoods in Northern Ca. IMHO 299 is the best not a bad road for Calif, Fairly good shape and is well maintained.
take your time have a full tank of fuel leaving Redding Their are not many gas stations once on 299 going west even in the city limits of Redding Got into Weaverville on empty and had trouble finding a station with diesel. about three little summits on the way to the coast so lots of up and down and around and around.

RE: Slide cover ponding water

Last year Costco had some big swim noodles (Adult size LOL )
ran some light cord tied a couple together for the longer slides and one for the short bedroom slide
They help both in rain and the wind.

RE: Coast hwy 101

you should run 101 on the right side going south. easier to get to the turnouts and view points.
To me the best part of the coast is south of Port Orford.
Their is just no good way to get over to I5 around Eureka 299 is the best it just is going to take you 5 hours not a bad road just a lot of turns.
Save some time for Harris Beach State Park in Brookings and maybe Prairie Creek in the Redwoods

RE: **** Local TV & Direct TV

Being I have a direct TV receiver which has no ant input it took awhile to figure this out.
Using splitters and combiners ( i shopped at Solid Signal ) that can take a direcTVtv slimline with a smb signal, and a Over The Air signal I split with splitters and when I needed to run two signals, OTA and SAT, into one line I used a combiner. When you need to get the two signals out of one line you can use a combiner reversed.
I sat done and drew out schematic and then made a small mother board too mount ever thing to it. Now to watch a sat signal I just go to the TV and change the input to hdmi or for the OTA signal to ANT. input .
easy peasy

RE: cable inlet connection good for satellite dish inlet ?

i agree with the duplexer or combiner working with splitters, no need to even turn the wine-guard power supply off I can seamless get over the air signals or sat just by changing input on the TV.
I think I have 2 combiners and one splitter bu the wine-guard power supply mounting on a piece of plywood (think of it as a poor mans mother board) and It took a long time to realize to use one combiner up by the bedroom TV to split the signal one feed going to direct receiver and the other signal to antenna input on TV.
I use a Direct TV with a SWM

RE: Eating places Kingman, AZ

just traveled through the other day and stopped at a place called JB's
It is not a place with RT 66 signs hanging all over but is must be from that era.
A family type restaurant with no families in it mostly retirees and locals.
I ordered the bacon lettuce tomato sand. it was one the best I have had in years.
Good salad bar and service

RE: Back Up Lights

hi
Just finished that job
On my Jayco it had no back up lites. At 39 ft my pickup back ups were a fairy tale.
Bought some Recon projection lights and identified the wire that feed the license plate lite and side marker lites . I found that wire in a bundle coming under the drivers side slide on the 5th wheel and tapped into it. Hid and ran a wire to the back left corner and installed a switch and ground wire and ran a wire to first light and split wire to both projectors lites and installed a ground at each light.
I bonded the switch to the Hidden hitch
with jb weld and the wires with some silicon.
Just turned it on last night and it lights up the night

RE: Directv on the road ...??

you can also call direct and have your locals channels switched to the nearest big city that you are near. For instance we are in the southwest for the winter, we called and gave them a different zip and told them that this was our new Service address so we are getting Las Vegas for the winter. I lost the Seattle locals and Root northwest and picked up fox southwest. When we get back home in the spring we will call and tell them our service is the same as billing address and we are switched over in about 30 secs.
seems to work so far for us

RE: Driving in Snow-Advice?

the starting up and maintaining speed is not the problem.
stopping and turning is the major issue.
I find that trying to increase your stopping distance by a far greater distance , I found that to me putting your transmission in neutral will put your braking evenly to all four wheels.
At times for better steerage drop your right front tire off the pavement and try to find the gravel shoulder also if they have sanded you will find more sand over on that side. Needless to say your speed is way down.
I would have the most aggressive snow tires on the rear wheels and front tires that are snow rated also but with lots of sipes.
I do not like all season tires waste of money IMHO.
Carry chains know how to put them on and put them on before you get stuck

RE: HUSKY 16K EZ SLIDER 5TH WHEEL HITCH??

I like mine. it has a little tattle tail tag that confirms a good hook-up.
sometimes it is hard to get the slider to slide to the rear you will learn to be on level ground and take the tension off the hitch.
Works great
