RE: Upgrading to Flat Screen, have questions?

Go to some place like Best Buy and pick the one that offers the best picture quality to your eyes. Sony is good, but you may not like their picture color saturation etc. Samsung also makes a great product. Have four of them.

RE: Summer trip, any comments or recommendations?

2-3 weeks in the summer? I would skip the southern part of that road trip and concentrate on the northern tier. No matter what, cut the stops in half and you will have fun.

RE: 2007 Chevy Silverado,Diesel

The only way to determine a batteries true condition is to have them load tested.
A battery specialty shop will test them for you for free.

RE: converter?

Burned fuse, breaker tripped, bad converter. In that order. Get out your volt meter and start checking things out is all I can tell you.

RE: furnace questions

When you think of a heat pump, think about an AC unit. It uses a gas (freon) which boils at a certain temp. Basically it is trying to cool the outside air, heating the air inside. In AC mode you are heating the outside air cooling the inside air. The big downside for a heat pump is that as the outside temp cools closer to about 45 degrees it's efficiency drops to near zero. This is because it is trying to exchange 45 degree air with 45 degree air. In other words there is very little heat exchanged. In temperate climates where heat is only required a few days a year a heat pump can be a good source for heat. Personally after owning one I will never consider one again. Their life is relatively short compared to other sources of heat.

RE: Best place to get new batteries?

okay acronyms. . . I need help... Jars? (batteries?) what is the AGM? Absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery? what about Gel?
What are the amounts of maintenance between the different types of batteries?
Thanks!
For boondocking you do not want AGM batteries. Their history does not prove out the additional cost vs life benefit. Any quality deep cycle or golf cart battery will require periodic maintenance. 9 months I have added water once to my 4 6volt golf cart batteries. I consider that not much for maintenance. And they are plugged in 24/7 when at home. Which is also 24/7.

RE: Furnace won't work

I was told, the cold temperatures may be the problem and that there may nothing wrong with the furnace. Just too cold for the LP to work properly. Doesn't make sense.
I just wondered if anyone else had a problem similar to this.
That is a cop out!
Propane will not stop flowing until it gets to about -40c.
But I would venture a guess if the dealer would do a pressure test of the gas system he will find out that you are low on line pressure. especially when the temps drop. Or the regulator is shutting down, causing the gas flow to stop. Insist that he do a pressure test, replace the rubber gas hoses and see what happens. Has he gotten the furnace manufacturer involved? I'll bet not.

I have seen them running as a app on your smart phone. The only problem I see is it is a couple hundred dollars for the hardware.

United battery in Gresham, intersection of Burnside and Stark sells Deka batteries. They offer decent prices.

RE: GETTING READY TO GO RVing

Unless the trailer you are going to buy is already equipped with an extended pin box it is not recommended to install one. Lippert would most likely void your frame warranty of you did.

Plug the generator into the trailer. You already have a great battery charger there.

RE: 2001 Nash

My 2002 AF was a good unit. Only real complaint we had was the cheezy foam rubber used for cushions. After 5 minutes we were sitting on the deck. Other than leaks and appliances they are great units. BTW it will probably have a Norcold refer. So be sure all recalls have neen done.

RE: Furnace starts by itself

The only way for that to happen is a short betwern 12volt plus and furnace on. Install a new thermostat and that should fix the problem. Unless you have wires shorted together.

RE: Charging Car Battery with Honda eu1000i

The battery charge capability of that generator is about 1 amp. So that means you will have to let it run for about 18 hours to recharge the battery. I suggest you go out and buy a regular battery charger. Would be much faster and simpler.

RE: House Battery

I would suspect somewhere in the MH's life someone replaced a dead battery with the wrong one. You really need identical batteries for the house. And they should be the same age too. Otherwise you have the weak battery drawing down the good one. Making your available power less than normal.

RE: wiring in my inverter

I know just enough about electric to be dangerous, so I will defer if I am wrong.
But why not mount the inverter much closer to the battery (not in the battery compartment cause you don't want spark there) and run romex to where ever you want your outlet to be?
Basically because romex is not suitable for this situation. Nor is it capable of carrying the amperage required for an inverter at full load. The OP will need at minimum (0) wire and preferably (00) wire for a run of more than a couple of feet. And last I checked that stuff is close to 5 dollars a foot.

RE: camper towing ?

Properly equipped the truck will do OK. However I would not suggest a 3.42 rear end for towing. That is fine for everyday grocery getters. But for serious work you really want the 3.73 rear end.
Do you plan to upgrade anytime in the next 5 years? If you answer yes, then why not skip over to a 2500HD and get the 6.0L gas motor.

We tried several brands on our rescue Lab and have settled on Simply Nourish. He seems to like it and actually eats it without throwing up.
