RE: Leaving the pop-up category going to the TT category

I went back and forth between a pup and a TT several times. Ideally, I'd like to have one of each. I love the "tent" feeling of a pup and you just can't get that from a TT. I have friends that bought a hybrid and I thought that might be the perfect compromise but they have had some problems with leaks and condensation. I have decided that if I can only have one, it will be a TT. Good luck with yours and I bet you'll have little pangs of regret but not bad enough to go back.

RE: Has anyone tried the electronic pest control devices?

When not camping, I have to work and in my case that's in the oil and gas industry. I live in what we call a skid house on drilling locations. There are usually 5 or 6 houses almost identical to mine on location. I have the Black and Decker units in my house and haven't seen a mouse inside to date. The other houses on location DO have mice problems. They prefer to use mouse traps and glue traps and catch mice all the time. I do keep a few of the glue traps but have yet to catch anything in one. I would say the B&D's work great.

RE: Friends wanna go along....

I have bunks for the grandkids and that's the beds they always get. One time we had two other couples and the grandkids. When the sleeper couch is opened, I cannot got to my bathroom. My 03:00 nature call had to be taken outside. Just not wanting a repeat of that night. So, the couch was replaced with recliners and the table stays a table.

RE: Bear Spray

I have carried pepper spray in my TV for years since I work in a wilderness area and have had many bear encounters at work. While I have never had to use it while camping, I did use it while traveling to my camping spot. A very agitated, and obviously drugged young man had a fit of road rage because I wouldn't exceed the speed limit and he passed me, blocked the road and forced me to stop. When he came back to voice his displeasure with me he made the mistake of trying to open my door. I had the spray in my console and had retreived it when the fool started his antics. One strong blast of pepper spray in the face, from a distance of around three feet, stopped the assault. I stayed there to make sure he was going to be OK but as he recovered, he started in with threats to my life. I went ahead and gave him one more dose and drove away, leaving him to recover all alone. While I can't speak for it's effectiveness on bears, I can give testimony as to how it works on gangbanger druggies. It works GREAT!

RE: Friends wanna go along....

Looks like a lot of tou have the same feelings about it that I do. i just bought a pretty good sized tent and will explain that it is for anybody that wants to go along. We only do boondocking so there aren't any rental facilities available. I do have a couple of inflatable matresses and several sleeping bags so it won't be like I am asking them to sleep on the ground.

Friends wanna go along....

DW and I do a lot of camping in the summer here in Wyoming and Utah and we have a lot of friends that want to go with us and while I would like the company, I don't relish the idea of sharing my 28 foot TT with other people. Since none of my friends have their own campers, I was thinking of buying a tent to put in the TT and when someone wants to go, tell them they are welcome to come and stay in my tent. Has anyone here handled this issue in this way and if so, how did it work out? I don't want to sound inhospitable but even a couple of extra people sleeping in my trailer makes the trip much less enjoyable to me.

RE: Starcraft rt 13 help

I had a 2008 13RT and had problems with the lift. It would stall out before it got topped out. Took it to the dealer and they SAID it was fixed. Next time I tried to raise it, it got to the same spot and the cable broke, dropping it all the way down. Glad nobody was around when it did. Other than having a clueless service department where I bought it, I liked the camper just fine.

RE: Would you snitch ??

I live in a Condo and we have fenced, gated storage yard. One resident decided to go against our rules and parked his TT in a restricted area. Nothing was said and within a week, there were 6 other residents that did the same thing. They all decided that if the first guy did it, they could too. Now we have a mess and have to post "to be towed" stickers constantly. In your case, I'd report it. If it gets out of control like it has here you'll regret not doing so.

RE: First time Boondocking!

Yes, I guess Boondocking in New York is a bit different than it is out here in Wyoming. Where I camp we pay nothing except the extra food that the bears get if we forget to put it well out of their reach.

RE: Flood, Fire, Snow

Was planning to go somewhere nearby (in SW Wyo)for Memorial day weekend but we are still getting snow. It is Monday now and I woke up to 6 inches of the fresh white stuff again this morning.
