RE: New to the Forums with a Free 1977 Itasca C25C

My question is, how "efficient" is my current setup going to be when traveling light. Its a 4bbl 350, with a turbo 400 trans. I am going to refresh the motor, so think of it as a rebuild
I just sold my 87 Coachmen 22ft, it had a 350/ turbo 400. Ran great, plenty of power, but got 7-8 mpg at best. Also, the engine was a replacement GM crate engine with only 23k miles.

RE: My Chevy G30 van based C, won't turnover & start

Do you even know if the battery has enough voltage to turn the engine over? Have you tested the battery? It should read at least 12v, but a fully charged good battery would measure 12.6v. You may just have loose or dirty connections from the battery to the solenoid. Or maybe the starter/solenoid just crapped out. Its easy enough to swap the starter out.

RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C

In a pinch, could the crack in the exhaust manifold have been welded?
Yeah I've fixed cracked manifolds in the past. They are a bit tricky to weld because they are cast, with some cleaning, grinding, pre-heat, and nickle rod, very doable.

RE: How do I know which rear end I have?

Its more than likely a Dana 70, and it really isn't that big of a deal what wt oil you put in. You would be safe with 85wt gear oil. If you put limited slip oil in it, and the diff is just open, then it still wont matter.
