RE: What are "uneven lanes"?

usually means they have paved one lane but have not gotten around to paving the other lane, so one is 2 to 4 inches higher or lower than the other.
can be kinda dicey if changing lanes especially with a trailer behind you not to mention may damage tires.

RE: Bug Bites

sounds like "chiggers", google it if you have never heard of them.
evil little critters, don't know where you were but if it was down south, that could be it. they can be terrible here in Mississippi.

RE: bugs

Road Wrap works very well, takes a few applications to figure out how best to apply it. here's my info on it:blog
i think it ends up about $10 per use and i still keep the front washed & waxed so when i don't use it the bugs come off fairly easy.

go to walmart & but a cheap auto shade, use the same screws/holes already there. i've also thrown a dark towel with a couple of rocks to hold it down over it.

RE: Murpay

might should clarify,
the Murphy app is free, anyone can use it, it locates their gas stations.
Murpay, you sign up for, text when you want a gas code & receive it immediatly. no app needed.
spell check aint workin':)

RE: Murpay

the app is for locating Murphy Stations near where ever you are, i haven't tried it so can't give you any feedback on it.
i have tried Murpay. you send a text from your phone to them, they give you a code (sent back in a text). you use it and a PIN numbers to get gas and pay for it at the pump, at a lower price (3 cents off). the account is set up on the internet and tied to your checking account. you get a slightly lower price on gas and Murphy doesn't have to pay the credit/debit card companies a fee.
i like it, it saves me money. had a few issues getting it set up. i called the 1-800 number i was given, no help there but when i emailed Murphy, they responded and fixed the problem quickly.

RE: How often should I grease my axles?

use a hand grease gun (not air powered), you've got to know if it gets hard to pump. if it does, that means that the grease is not flowing through like it should and you could blow out a seal, that's what you don't want. then you need to tear it down and see what's going on.
if you use a hand gun and stop if it gets hard to pump, you should be fine. the first time you grease them, it could take 50 or more pumps to fill the cavity and get grease back out the front of the fitting. just depends on how much they put in to start with. first time i greased mine, it took nearly a tube of grease (to do all 4) to get grease out the front, now it's just a few shots and i don't keep pumping until i get fresh grease, just until it comes out. a few shots a year should be good as long as you don't see any problems.
IMO, i don't think there's any need to repack the bearings every year unless you put a butt-load of miles on it. just make sure you don't have slack in the wheel, make sure it doesn't run hot and keep some grease in it. the more you dork around with them, the more likely you are to get some trash in it. as long as it's right to start with and you keep it greased, it should last a long time (i can't tell you exactly how long but i check/change mine about every 7 years, with about 12k a year on them), but grease them at least once a year.
