RE: financing

Essex Credit is a broker that Good Sam's uses for their financing program. The loan I got through Essex is with Bank of America, not Bank of the West, so I think they shop around.
Same here but mine went through Wachovia back in 2004 which is now Wells Fargo.

RE: Ugly Encounter at Campground

Cutting through your site...rude but it happens.
Saying something to them...fair enough.
spitting beer on you truck....stupid and over the line.
Way over the line. Sometimes confrontation is required - the tricky part is how much is necessary to get your point across. I was raised with the understanding that whenever you confront someone be prepared for the unexpected.

Yep. Hope I always reported a final result! Any way, I'm careful not to give too much advice for fear I may be wrong. No question, however, there is plenty of great info and a even more helpful people on this board.

RE: SI-GI Windows

Replaced my pilot and co-pilot side windows, the others I never notice because they are tinted. However, I usually keep my day shades down so not an issue for me.

RE: Sliding doors falling off

Not exactly but I have resecured my doors with new hardware because of a few failures. The wonder of owning a home on wheels! Definitely call Newmar for guidance.

RE: CUMMINS C 8.3 DP- JUST TOLD I NEED A NEW HEAD/HELP?

Nobody ever said operating a Diesel Pusher is cheap. I have an 03 40' with a 350 Cummins. I have been in the engine business for over 30 years and I have never heard of an exhaust leak from a cracked head. I would put my money on a cracked Exhaust manifold. Cracked manifolds on these older 8.3 engines is fairly common. If left too long it can & will result in a severe loss of power. Not to mention stinking up the clothes closet.
You are likely looking at 2K for parts and about 12-14 hrs labor as it is a fairly big job especially if the bolts holding the manifold to the head are rusted and hard to get out.
Is the 10K estimate for the exhaust leak or the whole job?
I had my exhaust manifold replaced last year due to an exhaust leak. The cost was $1,200. Get another opinion.

RE: Securing Genturi to side of coach - How did you do it?

Many use dual suction devices but I have read where the heavy duty types can leave marks. When I tried it with fairly cheap, handle operated suction clamps they would pop off after a couple hours of use. Annoying.
Hopefully, someone has a better idea.
Tried the suction cups - they are worthless as far as I'm concerned. I used the mounting units with double sided 3M tape (this stuff is amazing) and attached them just above the window frame of the drivers window. Works great.

RE: Rv Park Websites - Rates

When I go to a CG/RV Park website I expect find: amenities, rates, directions and if they are a seasonal place. The one thing that is a deal breaker is NOT listing their rates.
No rates....just like a menu without pricing, I'm down the road.
Yes - keep on moving!

RE: I5 OMG

My two cents, 1) daily load due to density - remember from the top of the Grape Vine to San Diego (approx 250 miles)is essentially 1 continuous city, 2) funds diverted to other programs - usually social in nature, 3) reduction in funds as the tax base is declining - many with money are leaving both indiduals and businesses. Welcome to the state of unlimited and easy to get welfare. Yes the weather is great but the traffic and taxation is stiffling! Only 1 more year - I hope!!!!

RE: Toyo Tires

Got em! Replaced the original Toyo's about three years ago and used the 154's to replace them. Since this is my first MH and I've only used Toyo's I can't compare to other brands. Most owners I know use Mich's or Goodyear and they have many complaints. I'm fine with the Toyo's.

RE: poorly done ad by Newell

Why would they even advertise? Anyone with the finances to purchase a Newell already knows of them. My guess is the advertisement is to help FMCA get the magazine published which gives us an opportunity to read about the RV life. Kudos to Newell.

Cheaper? What about the price of comfort? I have my RV to travel - the car gets a free ride and rests until I need it.

RE: Motorhome Insurance

I am with Progressive as well. As a former insurance adjuster, I am picky. I am not a huge Progressive fan, but my broker got me the best deal with them and I know enough that if I have a claim, they will end up doing the right thing. I have looked into some other programs. I can't use GEICO or Ameriprise due to bad prior experiences. Good Sams Club has a good program, but my price through Progressive was better.
Same here. My agent got me the best deal with progressive. Said they were very aggressive about getting home, auto, motorcycle, and RV customers.
Same here. For what I have the other companies would not give me.

RE: Dry camping gen set

If you had read my last post you know this is my first time dry camping! so how long can I run the generator? with out shuting it down its a oldschool diesel generator with no temperature gage. all I can do Is keep water in it And hope i dont lost a fan belt. yes I worrie alot but I did put the gen turi pipe on.
If maintained as recommended it will run 24/7 as long as there is fuel. When I dry camp there are times when I run the gen for 5 days straight.

RE: Alternate to carrying guns while RVing

All well and good, HOWEVER, I would guess that 99% of the time when an attacker with intent to do bodily harm is faced with the possibility of being shot with a GUN a sudden change of mind will occur. If no change of mind the person is obviously INTENT and I prefer the .357 range to even 20 or 30 feet. The attacker is apparently "unbalanced" or "medicated" and I've seen these conditions lead to being impervious to most things of "lower caliber". IMHO, of course
That's my position as well.
