RE: Toadless C Owners, Do You Feel Limited?

No one has mentioned the reduction in MPG pulling a toad. SkipJ You're right of course. Since I almost always have my toad I don't know what the reduction is. I have read other posts that it is about 1 mpg. Of course, the size of the toad has some effect. I don't think you can justify a toad on cost alone. You have to save a lot of gas to overcome the cost of equipping a car to become a toad. IMHO there is no way to recoup any cost by having a toad. As mentioned loss of MPG for towing, cost of outfitting to tow. Now add the cost of early tire wear and other maintenance items from just being a toad.

RE: Toadless C Owners, Do You Feel Limited?

No toad for us either. We have bicycles for getting around, but as mentioned above it's all about planning before you park. When we stay at one campground for two weeks we sometimes rent a "rollerskate"; the cheapest car possible.

Plastic Wood or Wood Strengthener

Hi all. Some time ago there was a post on using a material that bonded with old wood to make it strong again. It was in reference to cab-over repairs. I lost the link. Can anyone help?

RE: Want to Try SW FL Next Year

You'll have to make reservations to get into almost anywhere at that time of year. Ft. Myers Beach has a couple of nice ones. Periwinkle on Sanibel Island is very nice.

RE: I'm going Camping at.........

no one mentioned paranoia or anything else close to it. I simply suggested common sense in sharing info. Some of you are soooooo overboard! lol now you can rant on cos I'm outta here.

RE: I'm going Camping at.........

I've taken this all in good humor, but perhaps you all should take a break and see reality. Thieves read obituaries for funeral times so they know when the deceased relatives will be gone. This is a simple well-publicized example using the newspaper read by how many? Now you come online (with perhaps 100 times the readers) report to everyone on here that you're gonna be at Topsail May 9-17, how hard do you think it is for the criminal elements these days to hack your ISP and get your home address? It's pretty easy to pretend to own an RV and join here in order to phish and fish. Get a clue folks, this is a new age.

RE: I'm going Camping at.........

And break into your home while you're away . Hmm, so would it be wrong of my to say I'm going out of town and give my ex wife's address? Now that's a good one

RE: I'm going Camping at.........

Be careful about posting exact dates except in private messages. Thieves can read too.

RE: hunting island sp s.c.

Plenty of room, actually just across the street is one of the two dump sites at Hunting Island, I turn my motor home around in this area. Very large and wide site. I was there in a 30ft TT. All that is correct. Lots of room. Its fairly open so if you want shade you may be disappointed but sat dish will work. Its right around the corner from a short trail to the beach. wow the sat dish works? I'm amazed, and happy for you lol. We've stayed there several times and most can't get the dishes to work cos of the close proximity of the military. I've been there 3 or 4 times for 2 week stays. Never had a problem with the dish. Most sites are obstructed but I'm not sure I understand what the military does that would cause a problem. I don't know either. The first time we stayed there hubby spent forever trying to get the Dish tuned in, usually only takes a couple of minutes. He took a bike ride through the park and talked to 8 other folks in different areas that had sat dishes. The only 1 that worked was back in the open area right off the beach, and his was sporadic. Two of the folks he talked to were retired Vets and they both mentioned the base in Beaufort blocking signals. We don't bother taking the Dish anymore lol.

RE: Vogel State Park April 3 & 4

You should be okay because it's early yet. Vogel is a small park, so the big rigs stay out. Agree with the above post about Blairsville to Hiawassee.

RE: Tips on selling off "Stuff"

My rule for thinning out items is if I haven't used it in 2 weeks it doesn't need to be in the RV. :D

RE: Bristol!!

Race Day Center. It's directly across the street from the track. Flat gravel sites, heated restroom, showers. Can pay extra for full hookup but we don't. We moved there from Earhart years ago for the same reason. I know they still have spaces available.

RE: Just starting Class C Questions

I would also offer lower money because it's a buyers market right now. You might be surprised at how low they'll go. With the tires, etc. the dealer is throwing in it shows how bad he wants to sell. Sounds like a great deal.

RE: Shower surround (wall)

My shower surround was replaced when I backed into a tree and punched a hole in the back end. We have a Minnie Winnie, and the shower wall was the same laminate used for the entire house construction, just a waterproof fiberglass instead of "wallpaper". Hope this helps.
