When graphics get old and weathered...

I removed the free advertising from my van when it was new, but now some of the remaining graphics are weathered and need to be replaced.
The Mylar film (or what ever it is) is dry and brittle, and fractures when I try to lift an edge. I takes forever to remove just a tiny piece.
Does anyone have a way to remove old graphics without damaging the paint?

RE: What is the new "standard" on a well used engine?

I use Mobil-1 (Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40) in the Sprinter. Yes it is expensive, but buying it in 4-qt containers at Walmart helps.
It does seem to be AECA E7 certified.

RE: What is the new "standard" on a well used engine?

Although the OP is looking for info on a properly maintained engine, I'm surprised no one has brought up oil change interval.
Although not as important for engine life as the type of driving you do, it comes in a close second, especially since manufacturers started recommending changing the oil at 10,000 intervals. (Including my VW-R32 and Sprinter.)
I change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles, and believe this is the single most important thing I can do to ensure long engine life.

RE: Does generator charge house battery?

I'm not sure how PWs are wired, but in my Leisure Travel the house batteries are charged ONLY when the switch that connects the batteries to the 12v house system is in the ON position. In other words, if the 12v switch is turned off, the house batteries won't be charged by either shore power or by the generator.
In contrast, the house batteries will always be charged by the engine alternator. That is somewhat problematic for those of us who have installed AGM house batteries, since the alternator charging voltage consistently exceeds the maximum float voltage for AGM batteries, and will result in vapor loss over time and reduced service life. But that's a story for another thread...

RE: Sprinter shock life expectancy

I replaced both front and rear shocks on my 2004/2005 Leisure Travel B210-3S Sprinter with Koni's within 2 months of buying it. I installed the larger diameter rear sway bar to boot. The improved ride and stability were well worth the cost and I have never looked back.
The original shocks and struts are taking up space and gathering dust in a cabinet in my garage. If anyone wants them, they are yours for the price of shipping.
