Jacks

For those who have experience with more than one brand of truck camper jacks would you rate your experience with each brand and give your preference based on your comparison of the ones you have personal knowledge of thanks

2004 Tioga 27foot

Thinking about selling the truck camper and buying a 04 Tioga motorhome class C it has 27000 miles on it, does anyone know what size gray, black, and fresh water tanks a unit like this has and how many coach batteries it has thanks in advance.. The truck and Truck camper we have are still in good shape but the truck just turned a hundred thousand miles but we average 14mpg i do not think a V-10 on a ford 450 chassis will get over 8mpg or is that way low for the newer gas engines?

RE: Chassis Battery Recommendation

The best coach battery I have found is the sears 100 amp hour agm battery it is a little pricey but what other deep cycle battery do you get three year free replacement and the one I have is almost 7 years old

RE: Crew Cabs are apparently not for carrying Truck Campers

Legal weight: as far as how much legal weight you can have single axle 12thousand pounds dual wheel axles 22 thousand pounds I do not think anyone can legally overload a pick up truck, what the truck can in theory carry may be all together different

RE: Happijac lubrication

Mine are the model 4500 and have been troublesome since day one they have been rebuilt at the factory once and one motor is bad now the other three operate poorly, and have blown fuses since day one the remote has been rebuilt once the controller has been replaced once they are four years old. when i called happijack i was told to send all four motor heads back that their was probably a problem and they needed to be checked and rebuilt, (wish I had atwood jacks) your post and pictures are excellent after I get the motor heads back again I am going to attempt to clean and relube the tubes again thank you for the post and information this is the best information relevant to happi jacks i have read i hope the 4500 come apart the same way

RE: Why not an extra pair of jack for the larger TC's...?

The camper manufacture could use atwood, reico, anything but happijacks or crapijacks I have had a total of three truck campers the happijacks are tbe worst of all three i have had my last camper was heavy and 15 years old the atwood jacks were original and did a great job the camper i have now is three years old the happijacks have been rebuilt once and need to be rebuilt again the remote has failed twice the controller has failed twice. my experience with happijack has been dismal the customer service is good but at three years old customer service should not come into play the electric jacks are a expensive item and the camper builders know the happijack product is inferior on the heavier campers but it is a question of which ones are cheaper just like everything else the rv industry builds maximum profit minimum quality

RE: Truck Camper Insurance?

In georgia i have farm bureau they do not cover my camper but when i bought a 3500 series truck {i upgraded from a 2500} farm bureau lowered my rates by almost $190.00 every six months they told me that my 3500 qualified for commercial rates and full coverage last time i paid it for 6 months was $172.00 it makes no sense to me that commercial insurance is cheaper actually it is a commercial farm policy i thought i would check my rates not long ago i called all that was in the yellow pages once they learned i had farm bureau and the rate i was told we can not even come close so i have stuck with them for 16 years i did have a class B that burned while traveling in louisiana and farm bureau was great my agent even called and gave me a credit card number to use to get home all we got out of the motor home before it was engulfed was us and the basset hound no wallet no money nothing we had to rent the smallest U haul we could get to go home because i do not like to fly commercial aircraft and do not like to ride greyhound with a basset hound

RE: Semi Hauling a TC and a 'Zuki!

It is legal for each axle to have twenty two thousand pounds per axle with a maximun truck trailer combination not to exceed eighty thousand there is what is called a bridge weight formula but it has nothing to do with bridges; there is no way that tractor can be over weight the way it sits
