RE: Rusty basement framing--Winnebago

We bought ours new and within a year (still under warranty) 65% of the paint in that area was peeling off and was rusting. Winnie blamed me, said I had driven on salted roads. I had never seen a salted road with it. Finally they did repaint it under warranty. Check around online, lots of Winnebago rust stories.

RE: Sleeping In Our MH

Check your furance to see if it has a full time run position for the furance fan. If so run it and drown out those noises that keep you awake. Rocking in the wind is another story and I never have got use to that. Also I never sleep good in a strange area the first night or two.

RE: Rubber Slide Seals

Take it back to the dealer as the slide may not be aligned correctly and that's what made the seal come loose. Better yet take it to the factory service center if that's possible.

RE: Looking for overnight CG south of Nashville, TN on 65

This one TEXAS "T" is at exit 27, easy on and off. It's nothing special but ok for a one night stop over.

RE: 5% credit on gas purchase

Chase Freedom will give you 5% Oct, Nov & Dec. You look on their website for specifics. Chase Freedom is 5% July - September

RE: Ford Triton V-10

I have a 2006 model and when I put the VIN number into the Ford VIN decoder, it said mine was 305 hp. Your list shows a 2005, if that's correct you may have a 2004 chassis.

RE: MN to FL in Jan...where do summerize your systems

When we lived in Michigan we used to de-winterize in Kentucky, but I have seen years that it was in the low teens in Kentucky in January. I finally got so the first day I just keep rolling south until I got into warm enough weather to flush and add water. One winter I put on almost 800 miles the first day to out run the cold.

RE: 5% credit on gas purchase

I think Shell and BP are about the only ones I found when I looked a few days ago. But with them your locked into that brand station and I don't find many of either being big rig friendly.

RE: Skylight Blackout Shades?

I have used in the bedroom area a plastic corrugated material very much like cardboard. It's the material sign makers use for a lot of there small outdoor signs. You can buy it from most any sign shop and comes in many colors. To hold it over the skylight use those plastic clips used to hold a mirror.

RE: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 opinions?

1492 I see in the picture taken with the flash your camera has the same problem as most DMC models and that is washed out faces on those closet to the camera. That is my biggest complaint with the Panasonic is indoor pics using the flash.

RE: Looking for a little reassurance.....

For years I always blew out the lines. But one winter I guess I didn't blow out the toilet good enough and froze the toilet valve. $47 to replace it. I now just add the pink stuff. Ive been known to winterize with the pink stuff 2 or 3 times in the fall rather than take a chance.

RE: Fantastic fan ???

Mine did that at one time. I went up on the roof and cleaned the rain sensor strip. It worked good after. It's a easy try.

RE: Veteran Snowbirds - If you knew then what you know now?

We would have left the north and the cold sooner in the fall. Which the last 2 winters we have done.

RE: 2005 Gulfstream Independence Rocks Side To Side

Here is what many of us Ford owners have found to help the side to side roll. And the cost is zero. But do make sure you do not have any broken springs and that the shocks are good.

RE: 2000 Southwind Storm - Need to improve handling

RELAX!!! If you learn to relax behind the wheel you will save yourself a lot of money by not trying to re engineer how a shoebox travels down the road. There will be countless people who swear by this or that aftermarket suspension item but none will have a positive effect if you do not learn how to relax and not over react while driving said shoebox.Randy Ditto x 10! And really should be repeated often. I cringe when I see people adding aftermarket and changing these MH's. If it would have made it handle better they would have put it on at the factory. Start with this cost free fix Free fix and you may not need to do any thing else. Same thing here. If it were meant to be cranked tight on another hole the factory would have done it. I went to look at a used Class A and on the dash was a hole. Asked the owner what it was for? It had to do with some add on to tighten the front end to prevent sway or steering or whatever. He then took me out to his garage and showed me just how great that gadget worked.....a huge broken twisted piece of iron was what he had to show me that almost took his life when it broke off as he was making a turn and he was left without steering on a 40 ft MH. On used MH's - Replace shocks, springs and tires all of these contribute to how a vehicle handles correctly. These all parts that fatigue over time and are 'meant' to be replaced. Just my 5 cents, keep the change! http://i53.tinypic.com/29uud6v.gif Don't knock the free fix listed. Many of us Ford chassis owners have made the change. Many of us have driven thousands of miles since the change with only postive results. It's easy to change, 15 minutes and if you don't think you want it left that way after a test drive, 15 minutes will change it back.

RE: Anyone have thermal pane windows here..worth it?

We are on our second rig with dual pane. I wouldn't buy a rig without them.

RE: 96 F53 Chassis Handling Suspension Upgrades

Here is a very low cost mod several Ford chassis owners are doing and seems to give much better handling at no cost.

RE: Long term hook up. What to do with fresh water tank?

We sit up to 6 months on a site at times. We always use water from the fresh water tank. I figure it keeps the tank fresh no chance of growing those little green guys in the tank.
