RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???

So far today, I have reinstalled the 9 bedroom drawers after putting a little finish on the unfinished parts. Found out that I have 2 freshwater tanks, one under each bed, connected somehow. I wondered why the FW tank I could see was about half full, but only read 1/3 on the gauge. Looks like when the one tank fills, the other tank then fills. Found out the other day that I have 2 grey water tanks - haven't a clue what goes in each of those. Dealer also hasn't a clue, the first Concord he has sold that has the twin beds option.

RE: New tv in mh

As I set up, I look at other RV's and aim my antenna the same as those. Most of the digital TV's will do the search automatically.

RE: Longer RV

I just bought a 2012 Concord 301SS. So far I am pleased with the unit. As is to be suspected, it has a few flaws - the deadbolt won't lock, the privacy curtain doesn't have any attachments in the middle so it hangs loose, a couple spots on drawers that are scuffed. Nothing major, just little things. Haven't taken it back to the dealer yet - waiting to see if anything else comes up.
One thing I'm not real sure of is the dump system. Not sure if I like it or not. Thinking seriously about removing the swing tube and installing some kind of open floor, maybe expanded sheet metal. It works fine for dumping, just don't like the idea not being able to hold the stinky slinky up to flush out and drain. Only dumped once, so I'll see what it's like next time after it has had a chance to sit for awhile. I ntice this set-up seems to be used on a lot of newer units.
Mine is on the Chevy 4500 chassis, and has a lot more leg room in the cab vs Ford. Supposed to get a little better mileage than the Ford V-10. The computer indicates overall mileage so far (1800+ miles) of 11.1 MPG. Of course, most of those miles are empty. Time will tell.

RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???

Yesterday, pulled out half the drawers, sanded and finished the insides. Don't know why Coachman couldn't put a little finish on the insides of the drawers. Tomorrow, I'll do the 9 in the bedroom.

RE: can't fill freshwater tank

I suspect these are the low point drains. In my Concord, the valves are under the streetside bed. Pull the drawer out and there they are.

RE: Financing

I do not understand the reluctance to take money out of a 401K or IRA. After all, what's it for? Didn't you put the money away for your retirement? As long as you have your future old age covered, Long Term Care, insurance, etc., spend it.
Just MHO.

RE: Water pump issues -- normal or needs replaced?

Not a good idea to use the water at the dump station to fill your freshwater tank. It is usually marked "non-potable". Can't you move closer to the house so you can fill from a spigot at the house? Of course, you may not want to travel with a full water tank - a lot of weight.

RE: Dometic flame cycles off/on rapidly

I'm no expert, but sounds similar to the problem I had several years ago. Bad control board. Luckily, mine was under warranty.

RE: Single door vs. Two door refrigerators

Some of us old guys will remember that all home refrigerators used to be one door with the freezer inside. I have never seen a one door in an RV, haven't really looked at smaller units, but assume it is the same thing.

RE: Couch Cushions

It would help if we knew what type of couch or sofa you have. If the cushions are removable as in a sofa bed, then new foam may solve the problem as long as the framework under the cushions is OK. If it is a jacknife sofa, it will probably need to be rebuilt or replaced. A piece of 3/8" plywood under the cushion may also help.

2011 Damin Daybreak 3211

I'm looking at a new 2011 Damon Daybreak 3211. Would appreciate comments from anyone who has one. Any major problems? It's made by Thor, which I believe is a good manufacturer. Thank you in advance for any comments - good or bad.

RE: Help with getting rid of a squirrel

Mothballs. Sprinkle them on the ground under the MH and place a dozen or so in a net bag and put it on top of the engine. You might also try dryer fabric softener sheets.
Good luck.

2X. I ordered one earlier today. Now all I have to do is figure how to hook it up to the front side of the MH.

RE: Location of Water Fill inlet

Maybe it's an overflow or a vent. Since the only apparent way to fill the tank is from the water inlet, there has to be a vent somewhere, and probably an overflow as well.

RE: Rassa frassan @(*&$* power cord!

Do the WD-40 trick. The problem is that the rubber covering tends to grab itself and won't let go. The WD-40, or 303 or Armour-All lubricates and it doesn't stick any more. Been doing this for years.

RE: Airstream Landyacht - Strange noise

Based on the OP's original post, it has to be 12 VDC or something run by the inverter. I'm not familiar with the layout of this coach, but it could be the fresh water pump. It has to be something that is not switched off or a defective switch. It could also be a wasp nest - had one in my house in the wall and drove us nuts until we figured it out and eliminated the wasps.
Good luck

RE: Best outdoor chairs

If you are looking for simple chairs, check www.lawnchairsusa.com. These are the old style webbing chairs that used to be sold everywhere. I have several that are at least 20 years old. I have rewebbed them a couple times and they still are very serviceable. I just bought 2 more at a yard sale for $3.00 each which I will be rewebbing.

RE: 2 Easy/Cheap Galley Mods

Both mods are great. I would just leave the chains hang when travelling and hook the lower S hooks together with a short bungee cord. Sure as heck, I'd loose one if I took them down.
