RE: Mesa/ Apache Jct, short term, no reservations

We are at Desert Gardens in Florence, Arizona. There is a two mile parameter around the park that is beautiful to walk dogs. The sites ae large. I hear people going out to golf. Check out the website. True, Desert Gardens is a really nice park, with excellent management. Downside is that it is so far from anything else but the nearby prison. A good hour from any outside activities.

RE: TX Hill Country RV Park Suggestions

Has anyone stayed at Buckhorn in Kerrville? We were thinking of heading to it. Buckhorn is a top of the line RV park. We have not stayed there but have been by there many times. It always looks busy. We choose to stay at a smaller, quieter facility a few miles away for about 1/2 the price. Doesn't have the activities or amenities but it works well for us. B.O. We did 2 years ago, and it was indeed the top of the line. Cleanest we had seen. As one other posted, not a lot of activities, but they had home-cooked meals 3 times a week. Had not been anywhere else where they served a 32 oz. t-bone steak, with the all the trimmings for two for $18. Also they policed the park and enforced the rules. They had a 'no pet' section, if you so desired. All-in-all, if we were to return to that area, it would be Buckhorn Lake. Kerrville is a nice Texas town, but the surrounding area didn't have a lot to offer, unless you were willing to drive an hour to San Antonio.

RE: Is the used RV market really that soft?

Boy, did this topic generate a big response and thanks to all who chimed in. I have taken all the suggestions and comments seriously and trying some. Hope to be able to report something better soon.

RE: Best Campground in Apache Junction for us

For short term and also Passport America. Look at one of the Cal-Am parks in and around Mesa. We are at a Cal-Am park here at Canyon Vistas. We have 38 or 40 short term sites. Out of the big city rat race. Jeep club also! Chris X2. Listen to ronfisherman. Met him a couple of years back in TX and he gave me good advice then. We have been to Canyon Vistas and it would be our choice again, hands down, if we were to return to that area.

Is the used RV market really that soft?

We have been trying to sell our DP for roughly 9 months now due to health issues. I have it listed on 4 internet sites along with a for sale sign at our home. The internet sites only seem to attract spam abd the only traffic we are getting are people driving by and seem to be tire-kickers. I have searched similar units and my asking price is right in line with the others. I also have contacted dealers, both local and national who advertise good prices paid on these units, but they all offer in the neighborhood of 70% of my asking price. Do they all make $25-30K profit on these, and is the market really this soft, like real estate in Michigan?

RE: Motorhomes for sale by owners

OH! Well, "SHE" emailed me too - only it was a HE - and the reason was because HE just sold HIS MOTORHOME of the same brand as mine .... blah, blah, blah... then another email offering me help in re-editing my add once I posted on that site. Obviouly, RANCHHAND1 is a "shill". I checked the site - VERY LITTLE there! The BEST site I used for responses (ans FREE for 2 weeks - with an additional third free week offered) is RVT.com. I've had more responses from REAL PEOPLE than with the three others I tried. There really is NO REASON to pay any site - there's no site proven to be worth it. I'm now waiting for MY sale to "go through" the financing phase - and it is to people who saw the RV in my yard. The Internet BS was necesary, but unproductive for me. I cut my price to the lowest in the nation, but it was really the coach that sold itself - not the low price.I've heard from people all over the country - not one actually came to see it. SELLING IS HARD today! I have had it advertised on rvt.com for a while, but no results so far. As of now, the majority of traffic is what people see sitting in my driveway with a for sale sign on it. All of your responses are pretty much what I had anticipated, and my sincere thanks to all contributors.

Motorhomes for sale by owners

We have been trying to sell our DP and have it advertised on a couple of websites. Recently I got an email from 'ranchhand1' basically directing me to a site called 'motorhomesforsalebyowners'. Initially I thought this was another one of those $300-$400 sites that promise you the moon but all they deliver is green cheese. I went to the site which I have never heard of before, and looked at the advertising rates and they actually were extremely reasonable($45 for up to 12 photos until it is sold). That got my attention. One of their major claims is that they filter out all spam(which I seem to be getting a lot of from my current ads)on forwarded inquiries. My question is, has anyone had any experience with this site, either positive or negative?

RE: Fleetwood Discovery 39V

When we were in the market to trade, we seriously considered a used 39V. Loved the floor plan and space, and even put a deposit on it. After we got home and thought more about the huge slide, we got cold feet and backed out of the deal, mainly because of the slide and thinking about the integrity of the structure. That is a long area without any roof support. Maybe we made a mistake, but we probably will never know.

RE: Trade Kia Sedona for Jeep Cerokke for 4-down tow

It should be towable as long as it's not a Grand Cherokee. They are the the ones that have to have the proper transfer case to be towed 4-down. jeepfreak is correct. Our 2006 Grand Cherokee is only flat towable if it has the V-8 engine(has the quadratrac II transfer case). The V-6 (quadratrac I)is not towable 4-down.

RE: What About these Parks in Apache Junction or Phoenix Area?

Where that CG is located, everything is level. The sites were average, but as I said, not well defined.

RE: What About these Parks in Apache Junction or Phoenix Area?

We toured the Arizonian a couple of years ago and we not impressed. The sites were not well defined, all red dirt, and ATV's everywhere, which means lots of noise. If this is what you are looking for, go for it, but it was not for us.

RE: RV Registry

UPDATE- Thanks to all responders and after reading their comments and the link supplied to the other forum, I had already decided to pass on the solicitation. The fast-talking salesman called me back at precisely 8:00 AM to get my answer. I told him that I would list it with them if I could pay him after the sale, and I would need to see a written contract. Of course he proceeded to tell me why that wasn't possible, and he got very defensive with me. That really told me his true colors and I'm glad I declined. Without everyone's help, I may have been out $300.

RV Registry

I have an ad on craigslist listing my MH for sale and was contacted by RV Registry wanting me to let them list it with them, for a fee(of course). They guarantee me my asking price and suggest that it will sell within 60 days. Has anyone had any experience with this company in selling their RV, and if so, what were the pros and/or cons? I'm a bit leery, because it sounds too good to be true, and we all know the old adage.

RE: Mission or Brownsville, TX.

We stayed on South Padre for one month our first year and in Mission for two winters. Then we moved on to AZ for the next winter so we would be closer to our children and we could see them for Christmas. We have been talking about going back to the RGV even if only for a month or so because we MISS the beautiful birds. We loved going to the birding areas. We are thinking that the last week of October and all of November might be a good time to head to the Valley because of the butterfly migration. Ahhh... can't wait to see all those BEAUTIES! The noisey green parrots are great fun to watch and we have owls and several varities of woodpeckers in our palm trees. Humming birds are thick & lots of butterflies most years. We are fortunate to be 2 miles from the World Birding Center at Bentsen State Park and our park is lush with flowers, tropical plants and palm trees. This is why we come back in early October...our community is right in front of the State Park and the World Butterfly Center...we really love being there during the migration...it's amazing and beautiful!! You must be at Benston Palms Village. Very nice park.

RE: suggestions for extended stay in Tucson

Try Justins rv park aka Diamond rv park. Nice park with long term rates. Good location & very private. It is off 86 hiway just up San Juaquin at little bit. Doc Justin will help you with anything that he can. good luck I second that motion! It is a bit off the beaten path, but if you want peace and quiet, this is the place. Doc and his wife are both great help.

Fuel additive

Our DP has been sitting for the last 6 months without being moved. Due to health issues, it appears that our RV'ing days are over and have put it up for sale. I start the genny every few months and 'exercise' it, but the engine has only been started once since I parked it. I plan on taking it for a spin within the next few weeks to 'exercise' the chassis, but was wondering if it would be a good idea to add a fuel additive before I drive it. The last time fuel was put in was in February. Comments??

RE: Suggestions for Mesa Area

We thought about Meridian when we were in the area a couple of years ago and went in to see what it was like. The streets were narrow(old school), and the majority of units were permanent park models, spaced very close together. Decided it was not what we wanted and went to Canyon Vista, in Gold Canyon, a few miles further east on Rt. 60. It is still close to the major shopping areas, but far enough away to get away from the noise. Very nice, newer park with a mix of park models and class 'A's, and 5th. wheels. They do allow pets, but do have pet-restricted areas, for those who don't want to be around them.

RE: 7 Pin Plug on back of motorhome problem (UPDATED)

You failed to mention what chassis your rig is built on. The Freightliner chassis is built with a separate fuse block for the 7 wire plug and it is up to the coach manufacturer to install it, but it is normally put near the rear axle on either side due to the length of leads.

RE: Campground Suggestion Grand Bend, Ontario

The Pinery is by far the best, but I'm not sure it will accomodate the 42'er. It only has one CG with full hook-ups and that one is normally full during the summer months.

RE: Have You Ever Tried to Cancel Insurance for a Short Term?

In Michigan, if the vehicle is parked legally and there is a mishap, it is covered under your comphrehensive portion, not collision so this is a moot point in this case.
