RE: Inexpensive bed saver

is this what you meant to post? http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd467/DQDick/Bed%20Saver/Bedsaver1.jpg width=640 I am installing right now on mine, encase something happens mechanically to my latch. But from forgetting to close the dogs, It won't help you there. My friend has this version, Also has crushed bed rails. He backed in to hook up and someone started talking to him and he forgot to close the dogs(latch) and the bed saver bar.

RE: The electrical has me confused

I think your inverter is the way to go. You have it and should make use it. The way you mentioned will work.

RE: Air springs ( helper ) Firestone or Air Lift?

I bought this kit. JC Whitney. Sale It was on sale a couple years ago also.. I only had to notch the bracket a bit because of my reese hitch mounting hardware. Little notch and a couple washer spacers. I possibly had to drill a hole or two. Wasn't a direct install because of my hitch had brackets bolted to the frame that were in the way and i didn't want to mess with them. I can take some pictures if you would like.

RE: Hauling Golf Carts & Tailgates

I have driven my golf cart in my truck many, many times.. Scares me every time to the point that i take off my gate most sometimes. My straps are in perfect condition.. And still has me worried On my old f150 my cables broke and crunched my tailgate on the bumper. Was a bad Day !.. After inspection of the cables i noticed the cables were corroded under the plastic covering. And Dad only sat on the gate when it snapped. 180lbs Not saying to do it or not to do it.. Just make sure you inspect those cables closely. If you don't like removing the gate. flashman has got it right !.

RE: E- Zee pass

We have it in NY. I have one on all my vehicles.. Don't really pay attention to it.. The camper or its plate is not registered with ezpass. We just go through without issues and charges will show up on email statement (as stated).. If any.. Great system..

RE: Bathroom Tissue

What ever my wife grabs on her weekly shopping runs.. Quality vs price.. Camper is no different from house.. Our house utilizes a septic tank also. No ridiculously thin stuff for us.. Now, a paper that won't block sensors? That would be a hoot !.

RE: Another Lippert Frame Failure

Quickly, And i will probably be flame blasted for customizing. If i don't maybe i will start a thread with pictures, i don't know.. On the underside of the rails i measured the gap.. .062.. Bought some flat stock, .062". Tac welded in a few spots so it stays there. Rolls front to back nicely and snugly. Under the feet there was about .125 gap. Made up rubber pads from a TPO membrane that measure doubled up a few times to get .125.. Used TPO and not metal so can still get in the pins with a rubber mallet.. SO now it is planted securely and snugly.. Lastly i bought a grade 8, 1.5" bolt, and a lock nut.. Cut the bolt to length and drilled a hole for the quick pin. Also made bushings and tack welded into place. The holes in the 1/4" thick frame were egg shaped. Greased up everything, Tighten bolt securely, just enough to take out the slop. Now everything moves snugly, And all this eliminated 95% if not 100% of all the chucking. The only draw back is the top part don't come off as easily because it is now bolted. Just makes the hitch heavier to remove now or you have to go through the pains of removing that big bolt. I am coming up with a winch in my ceiling in the garage to do this. Was going to post everything when i got done mounting the winch. I am back to liking this hitch rather then hating it.

RE: Another Lippert Frame Failure

Just thinking here, that 16k reese hitch could have played a roll in my opinion.. Before i tighten up all the sloppiness, that thing would sit back there and HAMMER back and forth..It slopped on the main pin. On the tracks. on the mounting pins.. Everything. I would bet you a beer it was about a total of 1" slop ! When I was going down the road and look out the back window i couldn't believe i didn't have pin box damage or ripping bolts from of the bed from all of the hammering. It was like taking a sledge hammer and just pounding on the pin box. I was going take my reese 16k slider and toss it in the trash where it belonged but i have figured out a way to tighten it all up.. No more chucking and hammering.

RE: Hitting the 5th wheel hard hooking up.

I adjusted my "emergency brake" cable to the a length that is perfect for hooking up.. The brake cable will touch the ground and at the proper height of the hitch in the truck.. Unwrap my e-brake cord. Lower/raise landing gear so the cable just touches the ground. Back in truck, Camper is @ perfect height every time. Wife pushes in the latch. (my latch won't close itself, Reese 16k) Now back on topic.. People who slam into the pin boxes will be on the forum complaining about frame manufactures and shady welding practices..

RE: Water pressure regulator????

Made a bracket that saddles the rear bumper. The filter and regulator hangs there. High flow watts regulator. Never blew a hose from the spigot to the filter. I put the regulator after the filter, so the filter see's the highest pressure and maximum flow and less pressure drop through the filter. Never blew a filter housing either. Good flow at the shower head is a must. Spigot, hose, Y, Filter, Regulator, Camper. The "y" is for extra hose connection for washing the truck, Feet, Sand off chairs, etc.

RE: Reasonable charge to move camper

90 miles pull down.. Return 90 = 180. 13 gallons. say $52. in fuel.. making roughly $250 for about 4 hours.. $62 an hour for sitting and driving. Reasonable. Can you sign me up for Saturday morning runs for about $1.60 a mile. Do the same.. 180 miles x .555 = $99.99 - fuel $52 = $47.9 in your pocket @ about 12.5 an hour.. not me.. Got better things to do @ $.555 a mile If you were in a pickle, stuck, @ wits end, out of options. Let me know what camper to back up to, I will help you out.

RE: rhino roof? really?

Yup.. That looks sweet. NICE JOB !.. Looks like money well spent.. I like it. My front nose on the 5vr has sun faded logos and and stone chips. I will have to find someone local to do that.. How well does it clean up after black streaking being a texture finish? Thanks for the pics.

RE: Bike rack for rear bumper?

I made the receiver.. 1 1/4" Minor correction, But the picture does make it look bigger. That thing is an old bugger. Done it a ton of years ago. Luckily all my RVs have had the same size bumper. Every time i swap it over, I give it a sandblast and paint. I bought my bike carrier at a yard sale new for around $50. Mine looks kind of like this but without the tilt option> http://www.walmart.com/ip/Advantage-TiltAWAY-4-Bike-Rack/16517833 Thinking about making another, Then i will have two and i can make in a slide in shelf rack for something seeing I am about done with the bike riding.
