Is this what you are looking for?
Your local LOWES STORES may have something similar to this as well...
That is close to the installed unit and it is probably the type I will have to move to since I have not been able to find the original style. The original has a single cover that goes over the whole unit.
Thanks for the link.

RE: Nitrogen in RV tires

Now, if you want to do it right, use HELIUM. Then you won't even have to use an expensive hitch. You can tow your rig with a kite string...
"Huge improvement" to the guy who is selling it to you...
Now that is a hoot!

RE: Nitrogen in RV tires

Mowermech is right on target. Good for airplanes landing at 150 miles per hour and race cars at 170 miles per hour.
On our new Toyota Camery they tried to sell us the nitrogen for just $430.

Outside 110v outlet for a 2005 KZ Durango

Does anyone know where to purchase the outside weatherproof 110v outlet for a 2005 KZ Durango? KZ has sent me one but it doesn't appear to be the correct one. The one they sent has two rectangular holes on the surface that go all the way through the unit. The original has no external holes except those for the outlet connections.

RE: Ceiling light not working

I don't know your expertise with 12v so don't be offended.
Start by checking the switch to see if it is working. If there is more than one switch you can swap the wires to the matching pair. If you have a volt meter and know how to use it on 12v you can check to see if you really have 12v going to the switch. That is a good start.

Old Web Site statistics

Sometime back I found a web site where you could get (let me see if I can describe this well enough) the equivalent of any web sites old historical data. For example, I could go look at what a particular web site had on it's home page for several weeks back. You could see todays rendention of the home page and what the home page looked like several weeks ago. An archive of the web site data.
Anyone recognize this description and what web site I am talking about?

E-470 I-470 Around Denver - warning

Took this road around Denver north to south about 3 years ago and it was about $26 for out 5th wheel.
Took it this year south to north and all the toll gates were closed. We were elated and surprised.
Got the bill in the mail today September 21st for $44.00.
Did I miss a sign somewhere telling me the too road rates and that it was still a toll road?
Had I known how much the rates were raised I would have just take I-25 straight through Denver.

RE: 2011 2500HD short on in-cab storage space

I have found out Chevrolet has two or three items available as accessories. An insert for coin storage and cd/dvd storage that fits in the middle console, an additional drink holder that will fit in the middle console and an organizer that will fit in that "tub" under the armrest. They are all viewable along with many other Silverado accessories at the attached link. I am going to order a couple of the items and will get back with you.

RE: Cost to Change rear end 3.73 to 4.10

Well folks, after about 1500 miles on the new truck with the 3.73 rear end (old one was a 4.10). I am still satisfied with the results. I don't have a good feel for the mileage I am getting while in tow, just the best guess from the instrumentation (avg about 10.8). But, I will get back with everyone on the continued satisfaction (or not).
Thanks for the great collection of information on this subject.

RE: Cost to Change rear end 3.73 to 4.10

Cost is roughly in the range of $600-$900 per axle to do a gear change on a 3/4-ton or 1-ton pickup.
Great! Thanks.

2011 2500HD short on in-cab storage space

Just moved from a 2004 2500HD LS to a 2011 2500HD LTZ and have found the in-cab storage areas significantly lacking. The under seat storage in the back has been reduced because there is less clearance from the floor to the bottom of the cushions, the door panels don’t hold as much both front and back, there is no longer a compartment overhead for sunglasses etc. and since there is a center console you can no longer put a storage unit in front of the old 40/60 split seat.
Has anyone found any devices to add storage? For example a third party console that would mount in the roof area? Or any other methods?

RE: Cost to Change rear end 3.73 to 4.10

I changed my '91 K2500 from 3.73 to 4.11 a few years ago. It cost about $1500 since both differentials had to be regeared.
The difference in towing power was barely noticeable. It was not worth the cost. At the time I installed a "black box" that corrected my speedometer.
More recently, I installed larger tires. I tried to reset the "black box" but it was too old and wouldn't work with any but the setting that was on it. Luckily, removing the 'black box' and putting the speedometer back to stock worked perfectly as the larger tires and different gear ratio matched almost perfectly.
If you decide to change ratios, I'd recommend you go to 4.33 for increased power pulling but your top end will suffer when you don't have a trailer attached.
I would actually suggest you change nothing.
Phil
Great information. Thanks so much. I will definately try this rig out before making a change.

RE: Cost to Change rear end 3.73 to 4.10

One thing for sure, it won't be cheap, but I would think that your TV is capable of towing 8K lbs. as the older, 4-speed models of your TV were rated to carry more. Not sure if you have tried towing your 5er yet but the specs you stated are well within towing limits of your TV which should provide a comfortable and safe towing experience.
Great info. Thanks for the advice.

RE: Cost to Change rear end 3.73 to 4.10

2WD or 4WD?
4WD will double the cost.
You have a 9400# (4WD) or 9700# (2WD) tow rating so why not try it first?
We will definately try the current configuration first. Since I am moving from a 4.10 in the old truck to a 3.73 with this truck I was just trying to think ahead. I "think" I would expect a lower tow rating and slightly better mileage when "not" towing with the 3.73. Or do I have that reversed?? I think 3.73 would give slightly better non towing mileage than the 4.10.

Cost to Change rear end 3.73 to 4.10

I have just purchased a 2011 Chevrolet 2500HD, extended cab, long bed, with the 6.0 gas engine with a 3.73 rear end. I am pulling a KZ 275RK Durango which I "think" will weigh in about 7,800 loaded.
If push comes to shove I thought about changing the rear end to a 4.10. Have any of you done that and if so what was the cost?
P.S. Yes I know, I should have got the 4.10 the first time.. Well duh on me!
